Thank you for this. I started experimenting with candles since last year and I never thought I would enjoy it as much as I do. I'm fascinated with the science behind it. I've been stuck on what wicks to test and what containers I like. I found what waxes I enjoy (Coconut for container, soy hybrid for melts). Watching this I realize I've been stuck on only a couple wicks to use and have been measuring fragrance oil by fluid oz instead of weight! Such a "duh" moment when you mentioned that. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos. I just found this one today. Subscribed.

Really great video! I've taken a couple of in-person candle making classes and started making candles about a month ago. Everytime I think "I got this", I come across another problem. I love Kevin's KISS (Keep it simple, stupid) advise. I generally don't keep ANYTHING in my life simple 😂but he is 100% correct about this. You really have to keep it simple, be patient, and stay focused. I'm determined to get this right and these videos are incredibly helpful. Thank you, Kevin!

The temperature they hold while making etc. I learnt more of it and my ideas are more clear now.❤️

Hi there. I just wanted to know. Some suppliers say the pouring temp of fragrance oil for soy wax is always 85°C, regardless of the type of soy wax but some suppliers say that the pouring temp of fragrance oil depends on the type of house. What do you think of this? Additionally, what's your take on adding coconut oil to soy wax for a better hot throw?
@ArmatageCandleCompany Жыл бұрын
I stand by 85°C from the perspective of a candle design. If a fragrance house creates something that volatile, it's unlikely it would perform under the scrutiny of the melt pool/flame temperatures the blend is exposed to when in use. Re: coconut oil - I'm all for experimentation, but I like to keep things simple if I can 😁

I’ve been told to add vibar etc to my wax for candles however it never melts down all the way with the waxes (in use various grades of paraffin depending upon the type of candle such as a pillar or Hurricane. In any case have you ever found it necessary to add vibar or also mottling to get a marbled look? I’m just curious if I’ve been wasting my money on those additives bc it sure feels like it. Thanks in advanced for any replies,tips, or suggestions.

Treat it a lot like soy wax in the way you cure it, but treat it like palm wax the way you heat it. Go to 200F, add fragrance, cool to wherever you're going to pour, and let it cure for 10 - 14 days.

Thank you Kevin! This video really help me❤️ Can I use pure essential oil instead of fragrance oil in my candle?
@natb99192 жыл бұрын
It's not recommended. Essential oils evaporate very quickly when heated so when you burn the candle the first time most of the essential oil will evaporate in that first burn and when you light the candle again you'll barely be able to smell it. Fragrance oils are made to use in candles so they're the best option.

can you please help me with these issues i am having? Using soy wax from amazon and also 464. I have tried all eco wick sizes 8, 10, 12, 14. So far sometimes the 12 wick gives an even melt pool, but only sometimes. The flame becomes too small and eventually blowing out once it touches the melted wax. What is the issue? I am using 8% FO, and ive tested this in 3.5 wide tins, 2.5 glass jars, same outcome everytime. I have not tested the candles yet with only soy and no FO added.
