I would highly recommend checking out their brand new album “wolves“ when it comes out next week. It is a masterpiece and definitely the best thing they have ever done in their career. And their new single “My Weakness” is steadily climbing the pop and rock charts and is a brilliant brilliant song inspired by Kevin‘s love of Kings of Leon who were actually inspired by Candlebox… It’s neat how things come cyclical.

Candlebox. One of the forgotten greats that no one really talks about. I can not begin to tell you how many cigarettes I have smoked in front of my house to “far behind” whenever I felt lost and like I couldn’t breathe. It would bring a wave of blissful nostalgia, especially of days back in high school which was so weird because I didn’t discover the song until after I graduated. Their music is just so real, you fucking feel it. “Sometimes” god that song!!! I have cried and broken down to that song and screamed those lyrics like my dying last words. And the climax, his yell towards the end. I have fried my vocal chords singing that many times before. This band is such a gem to anyone whoever stumbles across them.

I first heard (read) about them in the "New Faces" column of Rolling Stone magazine. It was them and Counting Crows. A few weeks later I was at a Wal-Mart in Johnson City, TN and both bands debut albums were stacked directly on top of another. That $6.99 price tag is what I bought the cassette tape for. I bought it, along with 'August & Everything After,' without actually hearing anything from each band. That Rolling Stone article had mentioned things about both bands that I really liked, including where some influences may come from. They wrote about how some Counting Crows sound was reminiscent to Van Morrison and Leonard Cohen. When talking about Candlebox they mentioned the band Saigon Kick, whom I had been a fan of since their debut in the late 80's. I felt that Candlebox were a good bridge between what underground acts like Saigon Kick had been doing and where bands like Extreme had attempted to go. Their debut album is, for my part, one of the best debut albums of my lifetime.

The critic. who said, "They don't know whether they're Soundgarden, Extreme, or Led Zeppelin" must have been the same critic that started the "Stone Temple Pilots was a Pearl Jam ripoff" bullshit. And just like the latter making zero sense, Candlebox in no way, sounds like any of those three bands. Not even close. Good thing critics opinions don't matter.

I moved to Seattle in April 1994. The city had no love for those guys. After they broke up, I saw Bardi Martin's bass amps for sale at Bass Northwest. His name was still on the cabinets. He had gone on to attend the University of Washington law school.

I love Candelbox !!! I was shopping in the mall when the first album came out and the clerk at slackers kept on replaying YOU on the intercom and I went in to see what was playing and bought the cassette and CD and soon after my wife took over custody of my CD in her car ! Best band ever in my book !!! I still listen to them all the time !!!

I saw them open for Metallica after seeing them at a club a year or so before. They had the same energy and were great live. Kevin sure loves to use the word Fuck as often as possible. But he backs it up with one helluva set of lungs and real emotion in every song.

I lived in Tacoma in the mid to late 90’s and worked at a record store so was on the periphery of the Puget Sound music scene. The casual fans liked Candlebox, but the hard core music snobs and pros HATED them.

I just seen them in concert about 2 yrs ago. Sounded awesome. Now, at one point during the show the singer did sound a tad jaded. I think he was sorta joking, but still had a hint of contempt behind it. He said something about how they have more than 2 songs and have released so many more albums since 94-95.

I love the fact that They have songs about Andrew Woods!!!!? And they were against drugs and most of the bullshiat that most bands from Seattle was doing!!!!? But hey “ it’s not really fair that they made it bigger than most bands that were from The city of Seattle!!!!!? But hey it’s all good!!!!!! I love how they play and the song’s that they’ve crafted!!!!!! I love rock bands who also have Blues and soul in their music!!!!!! And when he sings!” You know that he feels every single line of his songs!!!!! And then their musical skills!!!! That is why I love their music!!!! God bless you all today Shalom

Saw them live in Chicago Sept 2021 they were fantastic on stage! The whole show rocked, all the new material was excellent. Both guitarists shred, and I also enjoyed all the acoustic moments mixed in. I have loved them ever since the first album but they usually play suburbs or outside the city. Great to see them play at House of Blues

It’s so funny how they were “accused” of trying to steal the Seattle sound...they had so much more blues influence (at least on their first record) than the local “grunge” bands of the time... Show me one Candlebox song that sounded like Soundgarden, Nirvana, AIC or Pearl Jam...I dare you (at least from the first two albums - sort lost touch after that 🤣)... Always felt like Peter Klett had his own thing for the era...

I dug them. I actually quit playing guitar for about 8 years in the mid '80s to focus on family and work (little cover party / bar band). Candlebox inspired me to play again. Even covered "Far Behind" during a reunion which resulted in another party and bar gig. Sad they couldn't keep it together.
