i feel like i understand the plot of the story now, at least the hidden version. in the actual creepypasta, the author theorizes that this is Gold coming to terms with the fact that there isn't anything more for him to do (considering he has all 16 badges, 251 pokemon and has probably beaten Red) and that he will eventually die. and while I agree with that theory the hidden version has a lot of messages that i haven't seen been talked about much. my theory is that the hidden version is Gold reliving some of his past, but in a much darker way, thinking the world has turned on him. for one, it's pretty clear that the Typhlosion that Gold is seen with had just laid a Cyndaquil egg, but unfortunately didn't survive due to complications. this is why it is shown to have split in half and disappears. Gold most likely believes it to be his fault that his starter pokemon died considering the player is scaling down mt. silver as she is trying to recover and there is no access to a pokemon center. the reason Hurry had nightmare is due to Gold remembering what he did. In the way he sees it, everyone (silver as well as all the gym leaders and lance in goldenrod city) blames him for the accident, that he let his pokemon die instead of helping it. Silver calls them even when his Feraligatr is killed since now both of their starters are dead. He finds no more reason to be alive, and lets death consume him. if this isn't the literal story then all this could be a metaphor for him dying, but who knows. this is super long sorry about that

This was a really long and thought-out explanation. I never thought of it this way but this is one of the best explanations I've seen. I always though of it as maybe a sequel to Buried Alive, where that was a dream that the protagonist stopped breathing in his sleep so everyone thought he had died in his sleep due to 'Buryman' dragging him down and suffocating him, so they Buried him Alive (hehe), so he actually suffocated. But now I think that this was his twisted replay of life, as his pokemon kept dying

I enjoyed watching this cause it was getting to see the other route I hadn't heard of, only being familiar with the original story. Also you have introduced me to Pumpkaboo and their evolved form (albeit only cause I looked it up not knowing the one in your video), which makes me wanna go back to X/Y and try to get one for my Sapphire. But there's just one thing. The text boxes keep seeming to be cut off in places and it's kinda spoiling the whole thing. Was it just a bad patch or ROM or something? I know I've seen a video of the path following the story, but didn't know about the other route at the time. EDIT: Nevermind, looked into it myself. Just the game being somewhat hastily/poorly done as the creator's first Game Maker project or something. It's a shame they didn't take more time to make it actually function right. In case you couldn't tell, the story started out with Gold having the normal amount of badges. Later on, it increases. The amount of badges continues to increase, and by the end, they are all gone and he is dead. It was supposed to carry the message that no matter how hard he tried, no matter how many badges he obtained, once he reached the hall of fame to be recognized, he was deleted and forgotten. He is forever tormented and reminded that he is only a character controlled by a game and once he is used for his purpose, his dream to be recognized, he is forgotten and replaced. Just as he replaced Red, and someone will replace him.

I think to sum it up....if you choose no at the start you get sent to a hellish dimension (until it loops you around), if you choose yes you are cursed and fight with yourself for your life as a played out metaphor. you are shown in a grave before you continue, at which point you have no arms and you lose more and more as you go on. this represents you are decomposing in your grave, or perhaps losing your grasp on this world and slowly transcending to the afterlife. your unknowns in your inventory says you are dying then dead, which also supports this theory..... then you are a ghost at the end and you leave the house, and eventually cross into the light where you see yourself say a final goodbye, and at the end you are at your grave the second time, ending the game.
