Nice video! My sickest capture was on emerald. I had used up my masterball on Latias (not shiny) and was capturing and resetting kyogre cause I wanted a good nature on it. It was rough cause it had rest and double edge making it really difficult to capture it because of crits and recoil damage. I was about 20 encounters in with only being able to capture him on half my encounters when suddenly a pink kyogre showed up. It was the most nerve wracking time of my life, but after a long battle with crossing my fingers to avoid crits or 7 double edges in a row I managed to capture him, I was so happy, exhausted and relieved u have no idea :)

I love that you mentioned the fact that you used to use pencil and paper and counted with tally marks. At the start of my freshman year of High School I started hunting Squirtle in Leaf Green as my first ever shiny hunt. I’m going into my Senior year this September and am currently at 24,000 SRs. After that nearly 3 year period, I am on my fifth sheet of copy paper, and have written the amount of tallies I’ve done above each set of 5 tallies in intervals of 5 (the very first set of tallies has a 5 above it, followed by the next set having a 10, the next 15, then 20, etc. ) Every time I reach a 1,000 milestone I write the number above the tallies darker. While using a digital counter is more effective, saves space and lots of time, there’s something about physically writing on paper that I love. My 5 sheets of paper are a spectrum, with each sheet getting more yellowed and aged as you look back. By looking at the tallies and how neatly I wrote them, I could tell you where I was when I wrote them. Oh these tallies are nice and neat because I was sitting at the table when I was hunting. And these ones are large, sloppy and spaced out because I did these ones while I was crammed in the car for 14 hours while on a family road trip, and the ones right below those ones are microscopic in comparison because I wanted to compensate for the amount of space I wasted with the big and sloppy tally marks. The events described with the differing tallies didn’t last long, as by my third sheet of paper I’d gotten my technique down and can make very consistent marks. I guess they say it’s the journey and not the destination and as much as I want this Squirtle, the 3 years and potentially more that it will take me to finally get this shiny will absolutely be worth it, and the pieces of dirty old, tally filled copy paper will be worth more to me than the shiny I’ve been chasing all this time. I’ve grown and changed so much since I set out on this journey 3 years ago. I’m a different person than I was then, but the pieces of paper I’ve written on are the final bridge to connect the person I am today with the person I was when I started High School. In my hands I hold the connection between the kid that was afraid of this crazy new world called High School that laid ahead of him and the person today that has goals and aspersions of his future, of the jobs he strives to have, the life he wants to lead and the person he wants to be. So if you or anyone for that matter sees this comment, I highly recommend you shiny hunt on paper, it’s worth more to me than I ever thought it would be, and in a strange way I never want this hunt to end, because it will forever be a part of me. And thank you for making it to the end of this very long comment!

I remember my first hunt. I was still relatively new to the franchise, and walking through the Alola region and knew little about the game. Then I ran into a cute little doggo, I immediately knew what to do. I heard about a new way to hunt, called SOS chaining, so continued the game to try and get an Adrenaline Orb. I found the orb, and immediately went back to hunt the blue doggo. It was a really fast hunt, over in about 100 encounters, and thus was my first hunt. A few years later I’m going for hunt after hunt, working towards that incredible end goal of a full shiny living dex.

I remember my first shiny: It was in ORAS. I was training a Surskit and (for some ungodly reason) only had it in my party. I decided to use Sweet Scent for horde EXP and first try got shiny Nincada. But long story short I only had moves that would take forever to kill or kill instantly and these things were barraging me with Sand Attacks. So with a sigh, I used Bubble and watched all of them faint. It's been six years and I've found and caught shinies but I still want a gold Nincada. Unfortunately I don't have Omega Ruby cartridge (or the time) to Sweet Scent for hordes. Maybe one day.

my first shiny was a fever dream it was on SS and I was battling the electrodes int the secret rocket hideout and on my 3rd electrode it was a shiny and it took 5 minutes to process what happened, I caught it and I still have it to this day as i made sure I could transfer it when I needed to just so I could keep it. It was especially cool as it reminded me of the way the pokeballs were in gen 2 on GBC and it felt nostalgic for some reason. I always think back to that exact moment when I find a shiny and was the reason, I always strive to get at least one shiny per generation to pay respect to my first shiny encounter i ran into by accident. This seems like a pretty good video for this story, my first ever shiny Pokemon was a legendary and I don’t even think I knew what they were at the time. On one of my early play throughs of Ruby (probably somewhere around 2007-2008 so I was like 8 or 9) I went to go catch Groudon to progress the game, so I saved in front of him first per usual prior to the battle, however, I was under equipped on balls at the time so it took me multiple trys to catch him. Well, after a few failed attempts I tried again obviously only to find a golden Groudon in front of me rather than the normal red one I expected. I was pretty stocked to actually be able to catch him that time of course. I moved him to gen 4 eventually so he should still be there just left behind (I pretty much only played the gen 3 and 4 games as a kid, although now Im into gen 8 lol)

Been shiny hunting Moltres in HG for 10 years an I finally got it An it wasn't even the nature I wanted and its IVs are even worse So I was very disappointed but I still got a pink moltres to follow me around after which was the sole purpose of me hunting it Lol currently working on mew two an I'm on my 2nd year hunting that in HG

Fair play, 12 years is a madness, congrats on the moltres, Funny side note, didn't know about shiny's until just before sun and moon released, so that was revolutionary 😂 however, only truly shiny hunted once for a feebas, because shiny milotic. I also probably won't again as I'm sure my luck went out permanently after a first encounter shiny zapdos. (Nowhere near as impressive as it was on let's go pickachu 😂)
