Nice video! My sickest capture was on emerald. I had used up my masterball on Latias (not shiny) and was capturing and resetting kyogre cause I wanted a good nature on it. It was rough cause it had rest and double edge making it really difficult to capture it because of crits and recoil damage. I was about 20 encounters in with only being able to capture him on half my encounters when suddenly a pink kyogre showed up. It was the most nerve wracking time of my life, but after a long battle with crossing my fingers to avoid crits or 7 double edges in a row I managed to capture him, I was so happy, exhausted and relieved u have no idea :)

Funnily enough, the first shiny I hunted was also moltres in fire red! I didn't keep tabs on how many it took, but I can safely say I did it between BW2 and X/Y. I didn't have a strategy in mind so looking back I'm just glad I got my hot flamingo!

This seems like a pretty good video for this story, my first ever shiny Pokemon was a legendary and I don’t even think I knew what they were at the time. On one of my early play throughs of Ruby (probably somewhere around 2007-2008 so I was like 8 or 9) I went to go catch Groudon to progress the game, so I saved in front of him first per usual prior to the battle, however, I was under equipped on balls at the time so it took me multiple trys to catch him. Well, after a few failed attempts I tried again obviously only to find a golden Groudon in front of me rather than the normal red one I expected. I was pretty stocked to actually be able to catch him that time of course. I moved him to gen 4 eventually so he should still be there just left behind (I pretty much only played the gen 3 and 4 games as a kid, although now Im into gen 8 lol)

My first shing hunt was Ralts in Omega Ruby. It took several days, about 8 hours in-game, and 270 dexnav encounters before getting a true beautiful blue Ralts, and she became a powerful blue Gardevoir who could mega evolve.

I literally remember every shiny i've ever gotten and they were all old game full odds shinies (through general playthroughs). Though there was the first pokemon i had attempted to shiny hunt and i'd spent months on and off at a time (spanning years since) attempting it (Rayquaza in pokémon ruby). Ruby was my first pokemon game and Rayquaza was my favourite pokemon. I had been playing Ruby for so long that I had to cut out the old battery and replace it with a new one. I also realised at one point I was trying to shiny hunt a static encounter with broken rng due to the dead battery (a few weeks into a session), so yay wasted effort. I was around 10 when i dabbled in shiny hunting Rayquaza but only took it seriously last year (i was 26) and was in a state of confusion when it finally popped up.

So funny story about this Moltres. Way back when I was about 12 my brother let me borrow his copy of leaf green because he didn't want to beat it. I thought this Moltres fight was mandatory to progress, so I went at it with my over leveled charizard and made it faint. I immediately soft reset, thinking I'd failed it. Having no other pokemon that wouldn't either die in one hit or faint it in one hit, I tossed out a crappy little level 20 ponyta and just spammed stomp. And that was how I learned about abilities.

In sword and shield, I dont have the shiny charm and idk why I am doing this right now but every once in a while I shiny hunt legendaries in the crown tundra. I've found 2 full odds with in 20 encounters. So the odds for a shiny legendary for me are 0.3% And getting 2 of them under 20 encounters blew my mind.

In older generations (where struggle doesn't do massive self-damage), you can just throw balls at full health pokemon and you're nearly guaranteed to capture them before they die since the base chance is actually rather high all things considered. Any ball works, even the completely basic one is good enough, although better balls are obviously better and sleep/para are also nice but not mandatory. This is still mostly true in the newer games, although if they have a bunch of low PP moves and start struggling early you might get unlucky and doing it the usual way would give you appreciably better capture chances.

I remember finding my first shiny in Pokemon Ruby. It was a Duskull. Literally wasn't even trying. Was heading for Lily Lilycove to battle a trainer who just called for a rematch. When it flashed, I honestly mentally blanked for a second, it taking me that much by surprise. Almost didn't get it though, because I didn't have a spare Masterball at the time and ended up burning it. It was 1 turn away from fainting and thankfully stayed in the ball. Second random time was a shiny Mightyena, also while trying to get to a trainer rematch near Lilycove. Thankfully, I had a spare Masterball this time, because it had roar, so I could've easily lost it through no fault of my own. Still have both of them, now in my Alpha Sapphire

just some friendly advice you don't need to reduce the pokemons hp to 1 the maximum bonus for catch rate is around 30-33% (low yellow health) to help five your self some buffer room for they use struggle in the future
