Cane Corso Dog Park Fight? Who Do My Dog's Love More?

I am never a fan of going to dog parks. They are too unpredictable and not unpredictable with how my dogs will act but unpredictable with how other dogs will behave. My Cane Corso will not allow dogs to jump on him ever and will quickly correct them if they do.

Last week we took our 10 month old cane corso to the dog park and he was attacked by a labradoodle. Unprovoked also, our pup usually roams around or likes to hangout by us. My husband and I were so upset because the OWNER could not handle his dog. You could see the lack of training. And up until we left, he hadn't leashed his dog. So I completely understand how you feel about not trusting owners. Our pup is a big boy, so thank God he wasn't hurt.

Another superb video! You are so right, because Cane Corso are so big (unaware ppl think they are pit bulls) they automatically judge and assume the big dog is the aggressor. Once I took my Corso boy Tyson into the pet store to pick out a new toy and a medium size dog ran out of the groom room and attacked my boy out of nowhere… the store clerk assumed my dog was the aggressor attempted to say mean things and try correcting my corso… I wasn’t having it, it was cool that the groomer came out to apologize to me and my Corso and also to correct the store clerk saying the dog She was grooming actually jumped off of the table and ran out of the groom room to attack my dog. It’s things like this situation which more people should be considerate of. Love how you guys always put great education and so much heart out there for your guys viewers! No dog parks for my mini schnauzer either. He is chill until another dog jumps on him and then chaos ensues. Never taking that chance again. And there is always that one dog owner that totally ignores what their dog is doing because they are busy texting on their phone.

I agree that going to a dog park can be like walking through a field of landmines. Also, there is a greater potential for catching doggie diseases in dog parks that have communal water bowls. However, this dog park has such a beautiful swimming area it would be a shame to deprive your boys of this experience.

it's the truth sometimes you just have to let things play out. just be there to survive and step in when needed. But its super important to KNOW YOUR DOG. you can just let stuff play out if your dog corrects nicely sometimes and sometimes they can overly correct

I totally agree with dog parks! I won't take my 25 pound chihuahua mix. I'm serious about her training and people with other small to medium dogs, apparently, think there is no point in training.

Dog parks are a crap shoot but I've found that small town parks > any city parks. Small towns 90% of the people are regulars and don't want to get a bad rep since everybody knows each other. There also were far fewer dogs which made things easier to monitor. I lived in walking distance to a dog park and still drove a couple towns out for dog park days because of this. I too let my dog give a warning before intervening. If the other owner didn't step in at that point I would. Usually just by recalling mine and then cutting off the path and using a little spacial pressure on the offending dog. That was usually enough to calm the other dog down. If not that's when I'd leave. It was partially frustrating but it was in someways beneficial because my dog knew he never had to escalate after he asked the dog to back off and that he could trust me when things got too uncomfortable for him.

Took my puppy there (JB) once and some d bag (with 6 dogs off leash) let one of her dogs charge my pup and attack her. Then she said, “oh sorry my dog gets nervous around other dogs!” WTF?

Always interesting to see how a dog will teach itself how to restrain is correction towards other individuals either be humans or other animals. I would assume that this behaviour comes directly by how he's trained. If the master always over-correct him, he will think that he has to do the same when put in the same situation. But if the correction the master applies is fair to the situation, the dog will follow the same guidelines. Incredible animals, thank you for sharing your experience with us.

My mom did the EXACT SAME THING my cane corso was eating the the side of the shed in the backyard and she banged the window and it shattered exactly like that and she had to go to urgent care and had two different cuts on her palm and on her thumb 😂😫

I have a question. I have seen many times before the dogs that want to mount and dominate which usually causes a fight, and I always see people letting their dogs get away with it and not doing anything. while I understand it is an instinctive behavior obviously we don’t want our dogs doing it so how do you properly correct it? And does it stem from a lack of socialization or simply people not knowing how to put it to a stop.

Heel means the dog is walking behind or beside you. Not that they are walking Loosely on the leash. Dog parks are great in my area.

A lot of people take Dog Communication as aggression and that's not what it is. Dogs need to communicate with each other just like Bruce did with that Pitty. I agree nothing else needed to be done, Bruce corrected that dog and that dog got the message. Just like wolves in the wild dogs have rules and boundaries that they must respect or get corrected by the disrespected dog.

Thanks for this video. I avoid dog parks for the same reason. But if my dog doesn't have experience in those situations how will he learn to handle them properly 😅? It's a catch 22 but I think you showed how it can be done every now and then if you can stay on the edge of the park

Honestly yes, I took my puppy to a dog park. For some reason this dog just kept picking at him. I tried recalling him but he was 4 months at the time and the recall was bad. So my dog had enough and charged at the other dog. I chased my dog since I was go going to be blamed due to the guarding breed I have. But now my dog is reactive just because of that interaction. Now I'm trying to train my pup not to be reactive 😭

Well you should never train a dog for "hours" in a day. Use real word opportunities as they come and spend 15 minutes a day training or reinforcing/refreshing and you will have a well trained dog just as Jason has.

I also can never tell when there's going to be a fight. 4:28 I think there was a mutual side-eye, stiffness and raised tails between Bruce and that bully-thingy. At that point I would have tried to separate them or tell them both to "leave it". But they're so close together it's hard to prevent a fight. The wrong energy can start the fight as you saw when the lady praised her dog with a high pitched voice. Would a strong "leave it" have caused the same reaction? There was no fight because the lady had a leash on her dog and Bruce didn't press the issue.

I don't take my dogs to the dog park anymore. I got tired of my dogs always having to defend themselves against poorly trained dogs. Some people wouldn't even allow their dogs to play with our dogs because of the pit-bull stereotypes.

My Corso was attacked in Central Park by a nasty pit on a 20ft retractable leash not being handled by the owner. My dog calmly laid him out with his paw and thought it was over... the pit then proceeded to lunge at my dog's neck and wouldn't release the bite. Thank God Corsos have the neck folds because any other breed would have been killed. I absolutely hate pits.

One reason I don't go to dog parks because of dogs wanting to jump onto my dog. The worse part the owners think it cute and don't realize how it could escalate into a fight. The blk/wht dog just went for BW and the owner delayed a hard pull back on her leash and then she should of corrected her dogs behavior. Instead she did nothing which reinforce her dogs behavior as being ok..that dog is very lucky it was BW. The other dog got to excited and jumped sideways at BW and he corrected the dogs behavior.

Bruce probably just didn't like that style of play so he told the white dog to stop. Kinda like if you're hanging out at the park and some stranger playfully slaps you on the back. Some people would laugh and continue the back-slapping game because they think it's funny. Other people would tell the stranger to stop and make sure they got the message.
