People keep talking about the weight division change in the Bud fight and that’s a factor but the biggest factor is that Madrimov is just a more skilled boxer than people want to give him credit for because he’s not a star. Because he’s a European who was 10-0 casuals thought he was a bum despite having a belt and over 300 wins as an amateur. Instead of people acting like Bud disappointed they should be impressed by the fact he went up to his 4th division to fight the champion in his first fight there and win. Canelo tried to do the same with Bivol and got cooked. Madrimov isn’t flat-footed with no head movement like Canelo either. The advantage Canelo may have in weight is negated a lot by his lack of defense and Bud will exploit that. Styles make fights and that Canelo fight will be easier work for Bud than people think.
