I remember one fight where he hit his opponent one too many times as the guy was going down before the ref could step in. The look on his face showed how angry and disappointed he was with himself. You could visibly see him trying to pull his punch before it landed. He won the fight by knockout, but he clearly wasn't happy about it. I don't remember who the other boxer was, but when I read your comment, I instantly remembered that moment.

Don't forget he is a devout muslim, and in Islam boxing as a profession is pretty much forbidden (because of head injuries). So that's the main reason why he doesn't like to "hurt" his opponents although he wants to complete his career before retiring. Same story with other muslim caucasian combat artists like Khabib who said he preferred a submission win over a tko/ko because it is safer for his opponent.

It’s unfortunate the Beterbiev/Bivol fight has taken so long to make. Beterbiev is 39. Father Time gets us all. Bivol’s management were smart to take their sweet time.

Who is here after Beterbeiv won on a decision against Bivol.I realize that Beterbeiv is really good and can fight you at a technical style they will confuse.I seen it in that Beterbeiv vs Bivol fight.Beterbeiv was walking down Bivol in the 10th,11th,and 12th round Bivol was struggling against him and looked like Bivol was going to get dropped.Beterbeiv is a monster in that light heavyweight division nobody is gonna to beat him in that division

@Sasskin You may be right, I rate the fight a tossup. Bivol will have to fight a tactical fight and take him in late rounds and tire him out. :)

Amazing how Bivol’s just held on to that one belt since 2016 and kept away from Beterbiev. Only now, after 8 years, whilst Beterbiev’s been collecting all the belts, and age, has he signed on. That added injury, a gift from the Gods. The fact that it’s the knee ? Chef’s kiss.

To be able to produce so much power at the age of 39, outclassing nearly all of his opponent by his raw strength and very underrated boxing abilities is unknown of. We might be witnessing the new chapter of the 175 weightclass right there.
