Stop-Motion Transformation of Cang Toys CT-Longyan-01 Stegsarow. Snarl is my favorite Dinobot. Glad they started with him. The knees are very confusing. There is an internal armature. In robot mode there are tabs that lock into that internal armature but as far as I know you don’t lock them for leg mode or steg mode. I try to show the orientation of it for leg and steg. Robot mode is simpler: Definitely with the tabs locked into the armature and then it ratchets all the way until the leg is straight. Steg is about halfway (about a 45 degree angle) and leg is almost all the way. Also I got the orientation of the backpack a bit wrong. It does NOT have to rotate 180d between steg and leg, ONLY when it is in robot mode. I snuck the rotation in going from primordial to robot, so use your imagination on that rotation. It’s your obligation. Not trying to cause a sensation. Oh, also I show the backpack locking into that silver block (behind where his head would be) going to leg mode, but you should not bother with that because it holds the whole assembly out too far to lock the tail tips into the gold leg bits. Leg mode is a bit of a mystery that will only be resolved when I have other parts to actually attach it to.

Production Note: My camera died when I first started to shoot. It made a sound like the shutter thoroughly mangling itself and then showed the dreaded “Err 99”. Fortunately I keep a spare, so now I’m going to have to get a fresh spare off of eBay. I’m trying for a full primordial shoot with this set which I’m sure I’ll regret at some point (if not already). My dumb computer had some sort of conniption and I had to reboot, so NATURALLY the only reboot option was “update and reboot”. I swear to god, Microsoft.

If you want to follow along, I recommend skipping to the speed run and using your , and . keyboard keys to advance by single frames. Every step of the transformation is documented in the frames of the video, in what I consider to be the best sequence. With minimal rubbing and minimal parts-parking.

This design gives me more of a Diaclone reboot vibe than it does Snarl. Like what the Stego Robo would have evolved into if it was a Diaclone-only design instead of Transformers.

Great review like always, brother. The main thing I love about your videos is the uniqueness to them that sets you apart from other fellow reviewers. I've been waiting for this one ever since I got my hands on this figure. The transformation between dino and robot are a breeze (at least for me anyways), but leg mode was a bit of a challenge. Especially in the area where the front legs for dino mode have to be manipulated a certain way in order to tab them into the sides of the body that forms the lower part of the leg. Speaking of which, I have a question. I know that based off the instructions, the ab crunch is involved in the transformation for leg mode. My question is, does the body stay leveled or is the top half of the body supposed to be at a certain angle before plugging the legs into the sides? According to the instructions (which are pretty much useless), the top half of the body is supposed to be at a 45° angle or at least until it can't bend any further forward, then once situated, the front legs tab into the sides..

I have no real idea. The leg mode will make more sense when I have a thigh and a foot to connect and another shin to compare height with. The instructions are the worst. Any instruction should have a picture that shows where the part is AFTER the movement. You know where the part is BEFORE the movement, so an after picture is a million times more useful. Hasbro does it that way. But too many 3p companies show a before picture and a nebulous arrow. Cang at least tries to give the degrees of movement but without an after picture it's kind of useless. This Carefray jet I'm working on came with the best instructions I've ever seen: There is a before picture with an arrow AND a stand-alone after picture for every step! And the instructions have both directions documented, even though the before and after pictures could easily be used backwards.
