I definitely dig this design over the g1 a whole lot. It manages to still pay respect to the g1 while incorporating a lot of angular modern elements to the figures. If I had the money & space, i’d definitely pick up.

You're right about razorclaw and the predaking head being just a bit off. I really like the parts forming bits becoming their own thing instead of just being extra parts to store away and lose.

Simply an incredible piece! I have exactly ZERO room to display him, which is why I've literally messed with none of the pieces aside from popping the boxes open for a whiff. I'm actually on the fence as to what I like more, though - the combined mode, or the individual alt modes. I really dig it all - the feet transforming, the sword, etc. Super cool all the way around.

The "mouth" could just be a stylized version of the faceplate, similar to the Oni masks of ancient Japan.

It blows my mind that they added a dedicated bot for thighs and the proportions are still trash. Huge hips, tiny waist, short thighs, and a small torso. If the individual bots looked better, I might have gotten this for a non-combiner team, but I remain in search for a Predaking that can stand next to Constructor.

I 100% agree with the chest and head looking a bit too small but either then that it's a very good TF action figure combiner set. The materials, build, hardware, overall engineering, sculpt, paint, look in all modes and value per dollar are very good. This set will display amazingly in any of the 3 modes, my least favorite is the combiner mode and that is manly because of the chest and head size. Thanks for the review Mr. Skullface.

I have to admit, I'm impressed. I don't regret not going in on it but it's a nice piece. Honestly, more than anything it makes me want to get a Predaking statue and I don't collect statues. Good review. Nice to see you bring a friend.

No!! Am the Same way! I thought he was the largest of the Combiners too! Yes, I think it was due to the Teletran 2 files saying he can lift 500 tons without straining a circuit, no planet is too big, ect and on Top of that the Predaking Toy was much larger than the rest. Also the Machinima Transformers power of the Primes introduced him as a Really large combiner as well. As always great video review Bobby.

Forget adding a new head to it, what Cang Toys (or an enterprising 3D print modifier) should do is come up with some feet covers for the animal feet in bot mode for Razorclaw and Divebomb. That's where these guys lose me.

All that needs to be done to fix the faceplate is have a slide down third segment to cover up the teeth if you want that way the mouth can still open that way you get the illusion of the original faceplate

I ordered mini divebomb and got him in yesterday. Very nice figure. Some really tight joints and the instructions for transformation suck but worth the $50. I've pre ordered the rest. The only thing I'm disappointed in with the mini is that the hands and feet are not transformers like in the large version. I thought that was a really cool thing with the big version.

Its funny that you mention that he should be bigger as if you watch that character intro you speak of his combination is a 2 part step.....step 1 is they combine and then when they are combined into predaking step 2 is predaking then increases in size and DOES get bigger.

I have no attachment to the G1 design, in fact I always thought they looked pretty lame, so I think this thing looks fantastic. And I don't have any issues with the head and torso either. If the head were slightly bigger and had an optional mouthplate that would be cool but not a big deal for me. And I think the torso design ties the aesthetic together even if it does make Razorclaw a pain in the ass with all his pointy bits. The wings help to balance out how narrow the torso looks in my opinion so it all works out. I have half the team already. Still waiting on Rampage and Tantrum to finally assemble this beast.

Another thing that hyped him as large and in charge was a bit of artwork - possibly Studio OX given how janky it is - that has a bunch of Combiners going at it...all lookin' like a bunch of Micromasters compared to Predaking. _ALSO_, the G1 toy was literally bigger than the other G1 toy Combiners, so that probably only added to that. Especially considering that in recent years, there's been downsized KOs *of the G1 Predaking toy*, which is just pure lunacy. (I can understand somewhat if someone wanted a downsized KO of like Power of the Primes Predaking to match the other Combiner Wars/PotP peeps. But why would anyone want a downsized G1 Predaking???) This set looks cool, but that's about it. I'm impressed that instead of being the six-man squad they've been hyping (because of the ape that becomes the hips and thighs), it's actually an eight-man squad (because the feet transform, too). But it's definitely not for me. Especially with that goofy tiny Predaking head. I'm gonna have to go back and look at the Razorclaw review again, but did you compare the Cang Toys Razorclaw by itself to the MMC one?

I had my doubts about this set as time went on, but I have to say that the final result is nothing short of spectacular. It's easily one of the most impressive figures I own. Is it perfect? Nope, mainly because it doesn't gel as well with other combiners due to the stylised look, and I'd love a better/larger head sculpt (plus maybe something a tad more g1 for the chest), but at the end of the day, it's a stunning set and a nifty bit of engineering all round.

Try removing the mane pieces that connect separately around the lion head. It gives it a cleaner look and allows the lion head to look more g1.

Didn't expect this review to be as positive as it is! Cang won't see a cent from me again, but I hope the people who went all-in enjoy it. Very curious to see how the joints last over the next 18 months. That being said, the Dinobots they've teased look horrible, if they weren't labeled as such, you'd think they're some Aliexpress KO. Its a shame Cang fell into the hyper stylized abyss that the 3P Gundam models have Fallen through over the past few years. Just a bunch of sharp angles in a pile.

There are some rubber pads that helps with the feet thankfully. The face sculpt I'm not crazy about but I reckon we'll see something to get it closer to G1 eventually, if not I may paint the silver bits of the mouth gold to reduce it. It has an amazing presence (wings always help that) and overall I'm really happy with it despite its foibles.

Actually, if you’re going for cartoon configuration accuracy, Divebomb and Headstrong are Predaking’s right side, whereas Rampage and Tantrum are his left side.

A G1 head would be the worst thing to happen to this beauty, but you know he's right, some silly head will be made. G1 Predaking is by far one of the ugliest G1 designs and lore wise, sucks. THIS is what Predaking should have looked like. The only other acceptable version is the MMC Feral Rex. As to why Bobby thinks he should be bigger, it's cause Predaking should be bigger. The Teletran II files said: "Predaking has no equal. As a weapon, has no known weaknesses." Well he just hadn't met SkyLynx yet.

One of a handful of times where an updated look far exceeds an OG design and does it better by concept. This is by far the best combiner to date with MS Raiden on that exact point. I don't know what these companies are on but please, more. I don't mind parts-forming but I know damn well that a combiner can be made to work without it, though this set took its creative liberties by making each individual component a figure in its own right. I don't like calling things a 10/10 but like... come on. What are we really shitting on this set for?

I don't see the point in having bespoke pant/shoe guys only to STILL have to attach miscellaneous other gubbins to them to get them to do their job. The excuse I usually hear is that having the pants turn into a guy is better than having them just be separate parts... but if you wind up with separate parts anyway you haven't gained anything. The final product is impressive but ultimately there's just too many design decisions here that don't work for me. Can't say I regret bailing. Also, the upper torso is just too small in relation to everything else.

I don't like the presence. It's not for me. I have an issue with that skinny waste, and small upper body in proportion to the rest of him. I am impressed by his size, and he should be bigger than the rest of the combiners. I still love the aesthetic of the MMC one, but it's not big enough, and it's not stable. I'm going to hold off to see if Zeta sold the blue prints to their Pretaking to someone else. Possibly Moon Studios?

When they first started coming out, I was all in. Then they started to move away, further and further from the G1 Aesthetic. Then there are the Color choices. Too many. Very ZOIDish. Not my style, as I was hoping for an Ode to G1. Stylized can work, if it's done tastefully. I would be curious as to how the Team would have turned out, had they kept to their original Game plan. I can overlook the Feet and Hips, it's original and more importantly it works. Is it Very Impressive? You betcha. He is Definitely Imposing. Would I have preferred a more G1 Aesthetic? ABSOLUTELY. I also would much have preferred the Original color palette throughout. Too many colors, just makes it too busy. If there are upgrades in the future, I would like to see GOLD Foiled Wings, a better G1 Accurate Sword and Head. They could also REPAINT Rampage and Tantrum to match the others, I think this would help. Criticism for the vid, I would like to have seen actual comparisons of the others, such as Devastator and Superion, not a stand in.
