I have two Caniks, and look to buy the Mete compact version for a carry pistol l checked it out at a gun store, and it was one of the sweetest feeling pistols I've had in my hands!!!

I am from Turkey and let me tell you. You have experienced the typical customer service of Turkey. In Turkey if you buy something and then need a warranty service 9 out of 10 times this is the exact same experience you will get. If you try hard enough you get a replacement or your money back eventually so I wish you good luck 😊. Thanks for your honest review btw.

@@2AlphaCrew When I emailed them it was fast but it took almost 3 weeks to get the MC9 back. Paperwork shows it sat in their shipping dept for a week before they shipped it back to me and they didn't notify me it was being returned. Luckily I was home the day FedEx dropped it off. Sold the MC9. Too many issues with it.

Had just as bad of an experience with customer service on my polymer rival. Took a month and a half to get two site plate screws, which at the end they told me i could buy at a hardware store. Communication was short and vague the whole time. Same day the package arrived, was same day a customer service rep emailed me to tell me, id have to wait til next shipment came in. Internally They are clueless, so ....buyer beware! If i have another issue, ill pay any premium to switch to another firearm brand/manufacturer that has a customer service department that actually knows what their doing.

I bought a Rival S in hopes they had fixed the FTF issue where the bullet jammed against the base of the feed ramp. I tried hundreds of rounds of factory 115 and 124 gr ammo and I stocked up on Canik factory mags. I had so many FTF jams I just said screw it. I took my lumps and sold the gun. No patience that. Too bad because it was super accurate. But I have a CZ Shadow 2 OR and the difference in refinement is day and night. Maybe I should have endured the growing pains and sent my brand new gun back to Canik but with the Shadow 2 in contrast, I just cut my losses. My time is worth something to me. I know a lot of shooters love Canik and once they prove themselves they are great. I simply didn't trust the gun to work.

@@DalePeterson-w1r I have no regrets cutting my losses and letting go of the Canik Rival-S. It was problematic from the start. That's just not right. and my CZ Shadow 2 is worlds better. Just have to adapt to the DA first shot. That is going great and less of a deal than I thought it would be.

Out of curiosity who did you call? Did you call Canik themselves or Century Arms? I would've called Century first seeing as how they're the importer of the firearm.

the caniks have a mag over insertion issue. thats a fact. Slamming mags in at slide lock is likely why its breaking for some people. Carry optics shooters usually use followers that dont allow last round hold open. So thats probably why some people arent having this issue. Put the mag in the gun at slide lock and just push up on it. the ejector is whats stopping the mag from going up any higher. Not the mag catch. They know of the issue and are changing the mag catch design is my guess on why the gun and that part are impossible to find right now.

@@2AlphaCrew it’s so unfortunate. Because they had the hype. They made an otherwise great gun and the OG polymer rival had zero issues. But they are def plagued with issues with the release. Mine runs fine so long as I don’t use speer brass. 1 out of every 200 rounds will fail to extract. Easy fix, sort headstamps. But I have so many friends with the mag over insertion issues it’s crazy. I feel bad because I’ve been an advocate for the gun since it came out. I ran the polymer version all last year. Hopefully they get it worked out and everyone is made whole in the end. It sucks being the beta testers.

That could possibly also explain why the rival s's are currently out of stock almost everywhere. They might have completely halted production until they found a way to totally resolve that issue, because it seems to be a major issue

i have the Canik TP9 SFX Rival Black Polymer!.... And i have prolems with my Canik aswel! All +/- 10 Rounds it fails to go fully into baterry! Now i send a Mail to the Dealer. We will se what happens next =( In Germany you have to pay a lot for the Paperwork to get a Licence for a Handgun. In my Case it was 105€ . So if i decide to get rid of this Gun i have to pay 25€ more for Registration. And then Pay another 105€ to get a new one! Im verry pissed! Never had a Gun That doesnt Work!

After much use the trigger would not reset on one of my sfx. Just got it back from Canik. Took 4 weeks. They replaced the trigger bar and ejector block. Decent service.

Can confirm, customer service is clueless. They've been more helpful than your experience but seem to not know much about the guns they sell. I have not had this issue and hope I don't but mags do have an issue with over inserting with the plastic base pads, not so much with the aluminum ones. I plan on running mag extensions in the future and afraid I'll run into the over insertion problem again. Time will tell.

I thought I had problems . I’ve had the tpsfx 9 for over 30 k rds. No issues The SFXrival I bent the slide stop spring, replaced it today going to test it tomorrow I got the TT combat and first time out it gave me fits. Not all the rival and tpsfx mags seat properly so you ca can only us standard 18 rd canik mags and the extended TT mag that came with the gun . I ran that mag full no problem. Going to test it with only 18 rd mags tomorrow These are great guns. Just be careful with the magazines

If the mag catch is sheared off, how are you successfully loading the magazines as you are doing in the video. It would seem to me that if the mag catch had sheared off while you were shooting it, the magazine would have fallen out. Apparently it did not based on what you explained. Improper seating of the magazine or a problem with the cycling (failure of the slide to move far enough back to load the next round in the chamber possibly. Due to a heavy recoil spring.) of the handgun sounds more likely. Have you removed the magazine catch and examined it? Nothing you showed or explained in the video indicated you did. I hate to hear that you are having problems with your handgun. I hope things get better for you.

Yes… i took the gun apart. It’s not completely broken off. The mag will sit when I’m not shooting. Every shot, the mag falls out. I tried 5 different mags. All the same issue. I’m not the first either. This is a major issue that pretty much everyone has faced.

Also. With the slide off, when you insert a mag, you can easily push it out from the top. It’s barely held in

I agree with you, if you spend a thousand dollars I expect quality & I got that with my Shadow2 and my 686+. I was considering purchasing the Canik Rival-S or the RAI 5.0 but now I am having some reservations about the Canik. Is the catch metal or Polymer ?

I think you should look into Tanfoglio. At a stock lll or limited master that is a stock lll frame as well. You get what you pay for brother and I promise will totally eat that Canik alive if it was in normal functioning order and definitely any Glock. I am talking not only in accuracy but in reliability as well from a company who is very responsive that will go out of their way for you if you ever would have a malfunction weather it was their fault or the owners. Not poking at you with a stick just trying to help you see the light because i want to see you and everyone succeed in bringing out the highest accuracy potential they have. Also the triggers in the Tanfoglio's will blow your mind

I have had mine for months now and I have never had any issues yet with mine and I have well over a 1000 round through mine already. My mete mc9 recoil springs was bad when I first got it but just a week later I had my new part up and running flawlessly.

@@2AlphaCrew I had problems with mine too. The mag started dropping, but I switched to the polymer version mags and It stopped. Also, the red dot broke. Mecanik Broke the stripping around the lens gateway and the whole thing opened up like a little garage door. Yes the customer service sucks.

I bought the Canik SFX Rival. I didn’t get through 2shots when the extractor wouldn’t eject the spent casings. I discussed this with the gun shop where I bought it. They tried to shoot the gun as well. They had the same experience. It’s been two weeks since I first bought it. I will try to get my money back. I’ll stick with the Glocks

Im a Canik Mete SFT user I love it. However I agree Canik has a real problem with parts replacement and stocking issues. Its near impossible to get them to respond over a few days. Its usually weeks before they send a garbled response. They never have Mecanik accessories in stock, never have spare mag bundles available. Its a mess. They are growing very rapidly but unlike Glock they are struggling with parts replacement, spares availability. Glock makes everything in house for a reason. They need to learn that from the Austrians.

From what I had heard… the customer service was great. Sadly… not my experience. The reputation of Canik is amazing. The original SFX RIVAL (I just posted a couple videos shooting it) is ridiculously awesome. The trigger is stupid nice. Ergonomics are the best I’ve felt. Check out my match video (USPSA), and my range day video from today. It’s fun to shoot.

Canik is nowhere near a hi point. You don’t see hi point winning national USPSA matches. They are very well made pistols. The Rival S is legitimately the only pistol to have a design flaw. Check out the video I just posted running the polymer Rival. The pistol is second to none

Hard to say this stuff is as good as a Beretta, HK, Sig etc. (or even a Glock)😆with a straight face. But to each his own!

@@tylerleavitt2715 Bro as a Glock guy if you search for them there are PLENTY of people who have had issues with Glocks, Berettas, HKs, and ESPECIALLY Sig. Canik makes a much better pistol than Sig. Also, for what its worth the Turkish Military and Police have adopted the Canik Tp9. They're the second largest NATO military so that does say something. The US showed some corruption by awarding the Sig M17 contract, everyone knows by now the Glock was the better option. The Canik would've been better too. Despite the absolutely phenomenal trigger in the Canik TP9 series of pistols I've never heard a single report of one discharging in a holster or from being dropped. Sigs are known to go off in holsters when not even being touched and that's now caught on video by the way.
