Great video. I dont understand why the other comments are telling ya to stop saying "okay" or "you know" when youre talking to an actual lice audience/ students. Clearly shes confirming everyones okay for her to move on. Its not like she said "ummm" every other word for an hour and 5 mins... Great video. Lots of good information. And again, its not the speakers fault this all happens in seconds ?? How can she control that? Lol what. Mary did a great job! Thanks for the video.

I appreciate the opportunity to hear your lecture and hope that it will help me better interpret the behavior of my dog and other dogs that we encounter. However, if you're going to post the lectures, please show the pictures that you refer to on the screen so that those online can see what you are talking about. Otherwise online viewers don't benefit nearly as much from your lecture. I also recommend that you listen to your recording of this lecture and count the number of times that you say "OK" so that you can consciously stop saying it so often.

Wow. 6 years ago when I got my dog there was almost no information on training, body language, and communication. All of these have exploded over the last few years, great to see!

It would have been helpful to put the camera on the pictures as she's describing what's going on in them. Not sure why we need to look at her describing a picture...? That is not helpful.

Thank you for sharing this! I am a first-time dog owner with a rescue and I am trying to be the best human companion I can be. I feel like I already have a better understanding of Maple.

You need to understand that all these body language traits happen in seconds and transition in even less time.

So , I appreciate what you are saying and I believe dog owners should understand signals from their dogs. BUT, in real life these indicators transition rapidly. In my mind what most dog owners need is education on situational awareness so they can manage their dogs. I strongly believe this is crucial in these days of dog rescues made by people with good intention but no dog experience. Just what I think.Thankyou for this vid, it helps add to knowledge

I wish you could take the mouth, tail, eyes and put them all so I can get the hole picture. Please stop saying "you know" all the time. You seem to have a lot of knowledge! Can you please make s shorter video on how to calm a dog down when it's anxious, thank you.

I watched this video with amazement!!!.In so many cases you are misinterpreting the expressed body language displays, by the dogs. A husky type dog in a" show ring" Is displaying total fear. The dog back end down, ears drawn back, front foot raised displays total submission to the on coming dog. It will RUN AWAY not attack. The "whale eyed" teeth bared dog is not smiling it's about to bite through unwanted attention. There are so many of these videos coupled with training dogs videos that are just plain wrong. However, people will go out having watched it thinking they understand "dog langauge".By it's very nature a complicated subject. All I see in this video is human valued interpretations being applied wrongly to dog behaviour. Look at some of Shaun Ellis videos a man who has devoted his life to studying wolves.Digest what he says and you will learn more than by paying for this lecture. Go and watch dogs interacting.Better still live amongst a pack then you will quickly learn and see how much of this is so very wrong. Watch all this youtube video UNDERSTANDING YOUR DOG . Who am I ? no body with 55 years of experience. It's not personnel just a view.

What a strange response. In ways it's as though we watched two different videos. The person in this video repeated many times, throughout it, to not interpret one sole behavior as necessarily meaning X, to interpret it objectively (not to anthropomorphize, i.e. interpret in terms of human values), to take behavior in context, and acknowledged throughout the limitations of a photo, which is "one moment in time." The dog in the show ring was exhibiting fear, that's correct. It's as though you've never heard of fear-biting or fear aggression. The next step for the judge in conformation judging is looking at the dog's teeth, running his or her hands over the dog's body; meanwhile the dog is giving very clear "back away, give me space" signals, which were ignored. In the instance of the "whale eyed" dog with bared teeth, this wasn't given as an instance of submissive "smiling"; submissive "smiling" was only mentioned in that segment. That dog language is a complex subject was underlined many times throughout this video. I don't know how you missed this, but somehow you did. I appreciate Shaun Ellis' work with wolves, as well as those who came before him, but while dogs have evolved from wolves, and share much of the same DNA, dogs are not wolves. Anymore than although we humans, although we've evolved from apes and share much of their DNA, are not apes. Behavior is different in both cases, and interpreting the behavior in wolves to be the same as in dogs is as erroneous as assuming the behavior in apes is the same as in humans, or vice versa. We, as they, are distinctly different in many aspects, even though we (and they) share some behaviors.

I think I get your message. I so agree, watch dogs interact and learn.
