Love the glasses addition, i dont usually see that in blanks/foam bases.

The hinge style will work for just about any mask you can think of. The only issue with something like the Hollow mask is that it will be harder to disguise the hinge and leave it unhindered enough to freely swivel.

Any kind of teeth really, though it is suggested you use a canine/wolf taxidermy jawset for realism and use something lightweight. You can use jawsets made by other costume makers and get most all of them to fit but it's not a guarantee, which is why I'll be sculpting my own version soon.

I'm not really interested in making a fursuit or anything like that, but this is still really cool! Props to everyone who actually makes stuff like this.

Awesome overview! Another suggestion for the fogging-glasses issue would be to use an anti-fogging liquid on your glasses before putting a suit on (something that's usually used in gas masks)

Acrylic paint is recommended. You could also try something with an enamel base, like model paints from a hobby shop. You might need to prime the surface for painting to help prevent chipping or cracking depending on the paint or techniques you're using. You can spray/airbrush or paint it on with a brush. Biggest tip I can offer is thin your paints & apply in multiple layers when doing it by hand, it will minimize visual brushstrokes/cracking. Seal with any gloss, I like Krylon Crystal Clear.

Foxes tend to have very narrow muzzles so if you don't mind steering away a little from accuracy on that account, then I don't see why you couldn't get it to work! The markings and ears will help sell the idea of the species.

Do you also do like bird masks? Or do you only do dragons and dogs? ( sorry if that sounds rude)

I cannot predict how the mask will fit you best and in turn your preference on how much tension there is. I can include elastic but you may need to tweak it further
@CanineHybrid12 жыл бұрын
You can cut them by hand with an excto but it's very time consuming. However it's also a great way to be very precise.
@CanineHybrid12 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! They'll just need to be padded up in the inside to make it small enough to fit properly

Oh absolutely! It's a popular resource on KZbin that's very outdated- that seriously needs to be fixed. It's been on my to-do list for awhile but I simply haven't been able to find any time yet. I will be making a new pair of canine feet for myself this December and could likely tackle it then.

Yes indeed, feline is scheduled to be next and I'd like to re-make the dragon one sometime afterwards (or at least do a few different kinds of dragons) from their I think I will most likely run polls to determine what kind of masks people are most interested in.
@CanineHybrid12 жыл бұрын
The mask could be used in a quadsuit, the biggest problem is that I fear for most designs this head is simply much too small in proportion to the rest of the quadsuit body. You can bulk up the mask with foam padding to make it larger but to do that properly, it may be quite time consuming and difficult to get it to look right.

I am just beginning to dive into the molding and casting world, so props and weapons are definitely something I would like to invest some time in learning for the future! I'm making an LED gauntlet right now for an Ezreal cosplay project, and I'd love to learn armormaking techniques too. Resin is a great choice for propmaking since it is light and durable. If you've ever heard of Volpin Props, he does all his work with the materials I'm using now. We'll see what I can come up with down the road!

Sure, you can do big manga eyes on something like this! You may need to modify the brow shape to accommodate them better. Most people cut toony eyes out of plastic bowls to give them stability/shape and make them shiny.

Really nice and detailed overview of the blank. 'Cause of the space for glasses I'll have to consider getting one in the future. That's definitely something I've been wanting in a suit but I haven't been able to do it myself yet (or at least I haven't been able to fit glasses on comfortably) and some blanks/suitmakers don't offer space for them.
@evancrow302710 жыл бұрын
Do you also sell realistic eyes, possibly that glow as well? Oh and another thing.. Do you sell custom requested full suits?
@CanineHybrid12 жыл бұрын
A real taxidermy wolf jawset fits very well in the mask and Monoyasha's jawsets should be rather close to this size- based on the measurements posted on her website, you may need to cut back a little of the gums but it should work perfectly fine!

Nice tip on the glasses. Another method you can use, I forget what it's called, but they make an anti-fogging spray coating for glass. It's often used by divers to keep their masks from fogging up when diving in deep cold water, Might be a tad expensive, but it supposedly works quite well and lasts for a long time. For those experienced suiters who will be at events where they are wearing a mask for extended periods, it's probably worth the investment. Good luck with your business. Nice mask btw

At the moment I am not offering complete heads with fur because I simply do not have the time to do them. I might offer pre-made heads for auction but that would be very rare. Very cool! two questions though. One: Will you be creating a model that can incorporate the 'following eye' effect? Or can this model be customized to do so? Awesome base, i have a question. If you buy an uncut base how do you cut it if you dont have all the fancy tools XD, is there any other/ easier way to cut them?
@CanineHybrid12 жыл бұрын
1) Yes, the 3D "follow-me" eyes can easily be incorporated into the mask as there is plenty of room in the inside to accommodate them. I have some clear 3D eyes curing in the mold right now, but simply were not done in time to show for the video. However they may not fit if you are wearing glasses as they will compete for the space. 2) I can attach elastic for the jaw no problem, however the amount needed for the back of the head needs to be done by you- everyone's head size is too different.

I will soon be offering resin eyes but there are plenty of other builders who also offer them too. You will simply need to glue them on. The white eyes I'm demonstrating here can be popped off and replaced with something else since they were glued in separately.

Sorry for making it a little confusing. I'll fix the wording to make it easier to understand. "Hinged: (+$25)" in this case does mean that the mask is both cut AND hinged by me. You could also get it plain "Cut: (+$15)" and order the hinges separately ($6 for a set of hinges) so it saves you $4 to drill a hole in the hinge and glue in place yourself. I'm changing the wording to now read "Cut & Hinged: (+$25)" that hopefully makes it clearer. Otherwise the hinges are not included with a mask
