I’m getting a miniature poodle who will be 15-20 lbs full grown. I’m having trouble deciding between the small and the mid-size kennel for car travel.

@sophias1670 Congratulations on the new pup! In addition to their weight, you'll want to consider their height and length, too. I ended up using a small for my Toy Fox Terrier puppy until she was bigger, and now at 12.5 inches and 10 lbs, she's in the midsized.

Thankyou for the video. Im about to order one medium Ruff Land kennel to replace my lower quality ones for long distance travel to shows in my Transit van with multiple 15 lb boston terriers. I usually double up 2 in one crate if I bring more than 2 dogs along due to the amount of room needed for fold down wire crates , luggage and all else needed for a week away from home. So my question is, if I need to would two dogs in one medium Ruffland be crash safe? They have the same size crates at home and they're used to sharing sometimes. Right now the cost of more than one crate doesnt fit in my budget.
@CanineCountryAcademy Жыл бұрын
I'm glad you are investing in your sweet Boston Terriers. A medium might work. I'd see if you can look at them in person at Bass Pro or a friend's medium since it depends on the dog's height and length. Ruffland's run smaller than regular crates.

Is it safe to install a small RLK in the back seat on the seat or floor? If so, what would be the best way?
@CanineCountryAcademy10 ай бұрын
I believe the back seat would be okay. You may be able to use the seat belts.

What size Kennel would be best for a mini Golden doodle. Estimated to be 18-20 lbs. once reached adult age. I was thinking of getting a small for when she is a puppy and either midsize or medium for once she grows. What do you recommend?
@CanineCountryAcademy2 жыл бұрын
That's what I would recommend. My guess is medium once full grown.

My dog is in between 12-14 inches tall & abt 22lb, which size would you recommend?

I would look into the intermediate. Curly was about that size and fit it comfortably.

Would a small or a mid size be better for a 16lb dog? He's 12in tall at the shoulder and 14in shoulder to tail (16in tall incl his head w/o ears, 21in nose to tail). Airline guidelines I searched up suggested mid size, but I'm not sure a car kennel would have the same recommendation (since I know a lot of people want a snug fit). It would be used for trips anywhere from 30min to 3hr+. Thanks in advance!

Hi. Great video. Couple of questions. 1). The hook from the ratchet strap will slide through the attached hardware? 2). Size for a pug?
@CanineCountryAcademy3 жыл бұрын
Yes, if you get the straps listed in the description and the attached hardware listed they should. Your Pug will likely need a mid-size or intermediate. If 12-inches tall I'd say mid-size.

Hi Paula. Thanks for your great video! I want to buy a Ruff Land Kennel for my 35 lb dog, Boxer/Carolina Dog mix. I have a lower quality crate in my car at the moment, and I want to upgrade to something that will be safer. The kennel I have now is too big I think. Originally I thought bigger was better, so my pup wasn't uncomfortable. Now I'm thinking smaller might be better, for safety (also because I just bought a Subaru Crosstrek and there is significantly less room than my previous Forester). Most of my travel is back and forth to the dog park, and occasional longer rides. I'm trying to decide if the Intermediate size is best, or if I could possibly go a bit smaller, to the Medium. Do you have any recommendations for sizing?
@CanineCountryAcademy3 жыл бұрын
I'm so glad to hear you are considering a Ruff Land upgrade. Accidents can happen to us anywhere. I would think Intermediate at the smallest. You still want them able to stand and turn around pretty easily. I would measure your pup to compare to kennel inside measurements since weight isn't as important in sizing.
@charlieh22293 жыл бұрын
I’m waiting for my mid size for my 14” terrier. Went for a little snug as she has this habit of going mental when stopped. If she needs a medium I’ll upgrade some day.

Great Video Paula! Do you think the intermediate size will fin a 65lbs Pitbull?
@CanineCountryAcademy3 жыл бұрын
It will depend on your dog's length and height. If you can find a local store with one to try out that is my best recommendation. A standard pittie vs. a "pocket" pittie will need different crates.

The Ruffland door flew off in the crash test & failed, kind of defeats the whole safety thing. Ruffland needs to address their door issues. I'd buy the Gunner or Lucky Dog.
@LauraElkins-v1w6 ай бұрын
Door may not be an issue with smaller dogs but for bigger dogs...

I was in a crash and both rufflands did great. Zero damage. It may depend on the type of accident, too.
