Canlis sits just off the end of the Aurora bridge. In 2015 there was a terrible accident when a vehicle veered into oncoming traffic and collided with a tour bus resulting in 5 fatalities. The bridge was closed for many hours during which the Canlis staff brought food to the responders and victims. Indeed the staff made personal connections with some victims, visiting them in the hospital and inviting them to the restaurant. Canlis is more than a 5 star restaurant, it is a community asset and treasure. I’ve had the privilege of dining there on multiple occasions.

i like the format of this video so much. very laid back, showing atmosphere and focus on the food not the vlogger (also thanks for showing the restrooms undervalued part of any restaurant)

Amazing video. You captured the essence of the restaurant. I enjoy the ice cube, attention to detail. This restaurant is all about the food and not about the quantity. 😂 “Happy belated Birthday!” Nice view of Seattle night lights. The restaurant looks similar to the house we are living now. We have all windows and the back of the house where we have the view of the SFO International AirPort and our window is also slanted. The house is based on Frank Lloyd Wright philosophy of organic architecture, bringing nature into the house. There are a hundred thirty two windows in the house. Take care enjoy your weekend. 🙏🙏🙏

Thank you :) That is a beautiful house you living in 132 windows? 😮 always loved house with big windows. Yes, I thought Canlis was very Frank Lloyd. It is actually built by Roland Terry and was built to feel like a home. I try to deliver the experience more than anything. I feel numbers and crystal clear images all over internet, but the essence and experience are less shared.

This house was mom second house she ever built. She was 77 when she started this project. She would let me know what she wanted in the house and I would held design it for her. For instance, she wanted all windows in the back of the house, because of views of the airport and the bay. For the ground floor of house she don’t want any walls just an open space designed, she also wanted an around fireplace to be viewed from both, the living room and the dining room. In the master bedroom, she wanted an walk in shower. She had chosen Venetian glass tile. (pink tiles glass.) This house will be mom legacy in what she accomplished in America. From working in sweatshops to become a property owner. She build her first house when she was 27, a four unit apartment house in San Francisco. This is from being a farm daughter in China with no education, and work hard, to accomplish what she has. That’s why I respect her so much. In the new house, I was able to utilize my design degree and help put the house together for her, along with the Architect. Mom and I design the interior for the house. It is based on the streamlined design, from the Hollywood Art Deco stage production back in the 20’s and 30’s style, very clean lines. Mom wanted no wall in the ground floor, just open space, it made the house feel and look larger. We have 13 foot windows in the back of the house. Come to think about it, it feels like we are living in a green house with all these windows. Great for tropical rainforest plants. No swinging vine. 😆 We did our own interior design because in the end the Architect stop listening to our ideas. Mom received most of her inspiration from going to see model homes, when they have open house showing and just remember what she likes and what she doesn’t like. I think the features of the house that stand out the most is her walk in shower room. When the sunlight coming in from the skylight and hits the shower glass tile the shower room just sparkling. This house is a going to be a legacy of our accomplishments. Now the house needed some work, I had been caring for mom since she was bedridden for the last five years before her passing. Now that I have more time, time to get to work. I feel like Snow White and Dwarf. “Hi ho, hi ho we’re off to work we go.” So that is about it, I love this house still have a lot of maintain work to do but it will be done. Take care you two and have a blessed Sunday.🙏🙏🙏

@@hopescape6697 Yes I am proud of the house. It was great I can pay mom back for her sacrificial love to us. She was able to enjoy living in her new house before she passed. Hope you folks enjoying your weekend. Take care 🙏🙏🙏 Wait a minute is that a home made Croissant I see at your table? Fat alert! Fat alert! 🚨🚨🚨🚨 Another 10 pounds of fat cell just got developed. How am ever going to lose weight? I’m too old and tired to be chasing girls for motivational exercise. 😩😭 Take care, you folks stay safe. 🙏🙏🙏

My parents went there many years ago and my father said he was given a note as he left requesting they not return because they didn't spend enough money. I know it is hearsay, but I trust the source.
