For our 30th wedding anniversary I made reservations for two well in advance and asked for a nice table on the upstairs level. We had enjoyed an afternoon showing of Pericles at the Seattle Rep and were looking forward to our dinner. I had been there before and had great meals and service. That night we arrived, fulfilled our reservation and were led to the stairs that went down to the lower level and seated right next to the swinging doors of the kitchen. I immediately complained and asked for a better table. Our host went away and didn't come back. I went up to the reservation desk and explained the situation without luck. We left bad mouthing the staff and I have never returned. Later through a review of the M.G. it explained that many of the Seattle sports team members were big clients and had dominated the upstairs level for the dinner for months on end.

☹️ that’s not the way anyone wants to spend their 30th anniversary at a restaurant. I am sorry to hear that. That’s not pleasant.

If you want a great steak, go to the Melrose Grill in Renton. Best steak in Seattle their ribeye is to die for. It’s a local place. Very unpretentious service is impeccable along with their wine and food. You would not go wrong to visit there save a few bucks and still get an exceptional meal.

I’ve been here and also ordered the ribeye. I agree, this place is unreal. Highly recommended

We had two different steaks, the bone in ribeye was exceptional. The other cut was good but the ribeye was amazing.

What a shame to order a California red while in Washington and not drinking our wonderful deep reds. Try one next time!

What would you recommend? Something that wouldn’t break the bank

Great video. Hate to say but there is no way that was a 36-ounce Porterhouse. I would be surprised if that was a 24-ounce cut. The bone-in rib steak did look great, though. That could easily have been 28-32 ounces.

The 36oz porterhouse is at a weird angle in real life, it was much bigger than the bone-in ribeye. Thank you for watching. :)

That definitely looked like a 36 oz steak.

Stag's Leap is the BEST. Not sure about the final price of the meal, however.

Can't go wrong with a Stags Leap Cab ! Noticed they charge about $150.00 which is about 3 times retail, so the house banks $100.00 profit on 1 bottle, ridiculous.. Places rip you off for wine, ruins the experience IMO. Also noticed a bottle of Ste Michelle Cab was $39.00 which is 4 times retail, again, I'm appalled...

I can help you with this one. If a bottle is corked, the restaurant has to eat the cost. They also have to pay for the proper storage of the wine, the staff, the electricity and gas, the rent, the cleaning, the wine and spirits license, etc. Also, it's a business; they're there to make money. If you don't like the price, don't go. The steak also costs ~4x what the actual piece of meat costs, does that ruin the experience for you too? 😂😂😂
@rogeeeferrari6 ай бұрын
@@SuperHogss Yes it ruins it for me, so I don't go. Yes, it's a business, one that rips people off...
@SuperHogss6 ай бұрын
@@rogeeeferrari literally every restaurant does this...that markup is industry standard. Restaurant margins are generally ~10% and that is for a successful restaurant. If you don't go out to eat, then why do you care about the prices?

We ate there last year. Good meal but not great. Overpriced for sure.

I really enjoyed the bone in ribeye, one of the best ribeye. May be we just had really good steak that day or vice versa. I agree it’s pricy, but you know it’s a steakhouse.
