#1 The Bleeding. After the success of Hammer Smashed Face, it seems like they decided to recreate that and write an entire album of super catchy songs. A real standout album in their discography.

I fucking love this channel, specially this band's album ranked video. Here is my ranking of my favourite band: #1 Violence Unimagined (just the best for me, all songs are bangers and fell so unique plus it is the one they worked the most in my opinion) #2 A Skeletal Domain (the best production out of all their records and all the songs were so well written, it feels like gallery with that dark and melodic sound but improved and heavier and more brutal) #3 Vile (One of the most agressive ones, Corpsegrinder's Devoured by Vermin scream is what you wanna do to release all the stress and pain, Puncture Wound Massacre: the most agressive in their entire discography possibly) #4 Tomb of the Mutilated (This is in opinion CC's best album and the darkest one with Barnes, banger track after banger track) #5 Kill (Does the tempo of each song change in the whole album? Nah, only in Death Walking Terror and Infinite Misery. All songs are bangers) #6 Bloodthirst (The best production in the end of the 90s and I wish they played more songs live like Dead Human Collection, Blowtorch Slaghter or Raped by the Best #7 Torture (It came back with that dark tone and in this album they release their last super technical song which is Intestinal Crank) #8 Red Before Black (The first CC album that I heard, sometimes it feels a bit tiring because after Code of the Slasher someof the tracks feel a bit repetitive start slow and then they increase the tempo, however they got this underrated and banger songs like Corpus Delicti or Destroyed without a trace) #9 Evisceration Plague (The production of this one feels like Butchered at Birth because of the over-distorted sound of the guitars, but this one sounds improved and catchier) 10# The Wretched Spawn (In this one they wrote two of the most technical songs like Frantic Disembowelment and Bent Backwards and Broken, but for me only 7 songs out of the 14 are really good, the other 7 are just meh for me) #11 Gallery of Suicide (This one is dark, creepy and melodic, which for the CC formula it is an experimental album, it has their best instrumental song, but somehow the sound of the guitars feel a bit weak) #12 The Bleeding (As much as The Bleeding is the favourite one for many it is not for me, it is very dynamic and good but I haven't listen to it very much and Barnes's vocals were a bit bad) #13 Gore Obsessed (I used to listen to this album some time ago, the songs are pretty well written and each one feels unique but not many are very catchy) #14 Eaten Back to Life (I think I've never listened to this album more than 2 times, however it is a very good start for a death metal band in the beginning of the 90s) #15 Chaos Horrific (This album has a rough start and a rough ending, the three singles released before releasing the complete album are bangers but the rest of the tracks are very repetitive, it feels like the discography pushed them a lot to release a new album asap) #16 Butchered at Birth (My least favourite, the production is awful for me bc of the guitar distortion sounds oversaturated, if you like grindcore it is good for you, the vocals are good with a brutal death metal vibe. And the first track has the worst start with those whammy bar sounds and growls for over a minute) I hoped you liked my ranking, this is just my opinion, you can disagree but everyone has different tastes.

15. Gallery of Suicide (#6, 1998) The second album with Corpsegrinder, and in all honesty, I feel this album is a worse effort than the first one. There is honestly nothing that stands out individually. They all sound pretty much the same. The production is not that strong, particularly the guitars; I feel the guitars are a little thin in the mix. It is still a decent album; I really like the groovier moments on the album. However, there is not really anything on here that I would return to again. Standout songs are I Will Kill You, Chambers of Blood, and Every Bone Broken. 14. Vile (#5, 1996) This is the first album with Corpsegrinder. This first album with him definitely shows a sign of things to come from the band. It definitely has a lot of the killer grooves that were present of the previous two albums. However, I think my issues with this album are the production on the album seems slightly thin when compared to previous recordings and some of the songs don’t stand out on their own (none of them are really memorable). This is still a good album, but it is clear that it is the first one with Corpsegrinder. Standout songs are Devoured by Vermin, Disfigured, Eaten from Inside, and Orgasm through Torture for my favorite lyric, “She rips my cock off with her teeth.” 13. Bloodthirst (#7, 1999) This is definitely an improvement from Gallery of Suicide. This album contains the most distinct and memorable songs with Corpsegrinder at this point. They took the grooves of the previous album and added better riffs and catchier hooks. There is nothing wrong with this album; it just fell where it fell because there are albums that I would listen to before this one. All in all, this is a solid release. Standout songs are Pounded Into Dust, Dead Human Collection, and Hacksaw Decapitation (the slow build-up in the intro is awesome). 12. Gore Obsessed (#8, 2002) This is a further improvement from their last album, Bloodthirst. The band is getting better and better with Corpsegrinder as the frontman in the band. They are getting better at writing more memorable grooves and hooks. There are moments where I feel the mix on some of the songs is different (Savage Butchery to Hatchet in the Head) but it could just be what they were looking for in that particular song. Apart from that, this is a brutal record that showcases the continued progression of the band’s sound and style of death metal. Standout songs include Hatchet to the Head, Dormant Bodies Bursting (this reminds me of something that could have been on Tomb of the Mutilated), and Mutation of the Cadaver (opening riff is my favorite riff on the album). 11. Eaten Back to Life (#1, 1990) This is the one that started it all. My favorite thing about this album is the cover (easily one of their best). In terms of the music, I love the thrashy aspect of the album; it reminds me a lot of Possessed Seven Churches, Kreator Pleasure to Kill, and Morbid Angel Altars of Madness. This is a really good debut album. I love thrashy death metal. It would have been interesting to have heard what else they would have done if they stayed with that same thrashy death metal sound, but the band evolved into the one we have all grown to love. All in all, this is a really good debut album. Standout songs are Shredded Humans, Mangled, and A Skull Full of Maggots.

10. Butchered at Birth (#2, 1991) This is where Cannibal Corpse started to sound like the Cannibal Corpse we all know. The album has a lot more catchy groove sections (intro and middle section of Covered with Sores), which makes the album have more memorable hooks. For me, the instrument performances, Chris Barnes’ deeper vocals, and overall production are better on this album than their debut. Although I still am not that big of a fan of Chris Barnes as a vocalist (better than his later material with Six Feet Under), this is definitely a much more improved album. Standout songs are Living Dissection (the groove and solo), Under the Rotten Flesh (the end gallop and guitar solo), and Rancid Amputation. 9. Torture (#12, 2012) This is another solid effort from the band. I still love the musicianship, grooves, and production for the most part. However, at this point, they are beginning to suffer from AC/DC and Motorhead Syndrome, which is where a lot of their songs and albums start to sound similar (maybe due to another muddy production from Erik Rutan), resulting in a lot of these albums becoming difficult to rank. That being said, this album is still a really good jam. Standout songs are Sacrophagic Frenzy (favorite song; awesome groove and riff), Scourge of Iron, and Followed Home Then Killed. 8. Red Before Black (#14, 2017) This is yet another awesome album. At this point, the band is staying in their comfort zone by not doing anything crazy or different. However, the songs and production are still really good. While it is a step back from the catchiness of their previous effort, it still has awesome grooves, chaotic guitar work, great drums, solid bass, and insane vocals. This is a great listen that continues to show why they are considered one of the greatest death metal bands of all time. Standout songs are Only One Will Die, Red Before Black, and Code of the Slashers (awesome slow, groove intro that leads into an all-out thrasher and ends with the same killer groove). 7. Tomb of the Mutilated (#3, 1992) First off, I still have no idea what Chris Barnes is saying without a lyrics sheet (his voice got even deeper). But I do not care. The grooves, the heaviness, the hooks; everything works with this album. They basically took everything that made Butchered at Birth good and made it even better. This is definitely their best produced album up to this point as well (Thank you Scott Burns). Even though the lyrics are basically impossible to understand, I really do not have any other gripes. All of the songs stand out individually. This is a banger from beginning to end. Standout songs are Hammer Smashed Face, I Cum Blood, and Necropedophile (the main riff is one of my favorites from the album). 6. The Wretched Spawn (#9, 2004) This is a kickass album that has some of my favorite Cannibal Corpse songs. I love how heavy and groove-laden this album is. My only issue with the album is that the production is not as “in-your-face” heavy as some of the “classic” Scott Burns-era Cannibal Corpse albums. However, they make up for it by having great riffs and awesome grooves that make a lot of the songs standout individually (Slain is a prime example of this). I don’t really have any complaints with the album. It is a banger from beginning to end. Standout songs are Decency Defied, Festering in the Crypt (nice, slow groove that makes this a top song for me), and Nothing Left to Mutilate.

5. Kill (#10, 2006) Holy shit! This album starts off with a huge punch in the face. The very beginning to The Time to Kill is Now is one of my favorite intros to any Cannibal Corpse album. In addition, everything about this album is pure gold. The production is amazing (perfectly brutal), the guitar work (rhythm and lead) is insane, the drums are spot on, the bass is just right, and Corpsegrinder delivers one of his best vocal performances. This is as close to a perfect death metal album in the twentieth century. Standout songs are The Time to Kill is Now, Make them Suffer, Necrosadistic Warning, and Submerged in Boiled Flesh. Note that the instrumental Infinite Misery has one of my favorite riffs on the entire album. 4. Violence Unimagined (#15, 2021) This album is so good. It is as if Erik Rutan’s different style of writing and guitar playing has given the band a new found energy. The riffs are awesome, the solos are unique and fitting for each song, and the lyrics and vocal delivery retain that same viciousness that is typical for Cannibal Corpse. This is the album that made me go “wow, death metal is more than just noise.” This album has the most hooks in a Cannibal Corpse record since The Bleeding. This is an amazing album, and even though it is the most recent album, it is one of my favorites from the Corpsegrinder era. Standout songs are Murderous Rampage, Inhumane Harvest, and Surround, Kill, Devour. 3. A Skeletal Domain (#13, 2014) Cannibal Corpse strikes again. This album has everything that I love about Cannibal Corpse; awesome riffs, heaviness, killer musicianship, and disgusting, understandable lyrics. It feels like a band that somehow was able to continue to evolve. They found a way to capture the catchy groove that was on The Bleeding. Everything about this album works. This one of the great death metal albums of the 2010’s and one of their best albums they have ever released. Standout songs are High Velocity Impact Spatter, Kill or Become (easily my favorite song on the album; “Fire Up the Chainsaw, Hack Their Fucking Heads Off”), and The Murderer’s Pact (love the groove throughout the song). 2. Evisceration Plague (#11, 2009) This is a killer album. The Erik Rutan production reminds me of the heaviness of the Scott Burns-era albums. I love all of the songs, performances, and the mix. It has my all-time favorite Corpsegrinder-era song in the title track. It is crazy that this is coming from a band on their eleventh studio album; they do not seem to know how to let up on the brutality, the hooky grooves, the chaotic solos, or the perfect musicianship. Standout songs are Evidence in the Furnace, Evisceration Plague (one of my favorite, if not my favorite, songs from the Corpsegrinder era; it reminds me of something that could have been on The Bleeding and one of the few songs where I can distinguish the bass guitar and bass drum), and Shatter Their Bones. 1. The Bleeding (#4, 1994) If I had one word to describe this album, it would be masterpiece. This my favorite Chris Barnes-era album. This is the first album where Chris Barnes is decipherable without a lyric sheet. It still retains the same groovy, heaviness, speed, and the continued awesome production of Scott Burns, but it just has a more understandable vocal approach, which I appreciated more. This is an album filled with bangers from beginning to end. This album is amazing and, in my opinion, one of the greatest death metal albums ever. If I was in the mood for Cannibal Corpse, this would probably be one of the first albums I pick up to listen. Standout songs are Staring Through the Eyes of Death, Striped, Raped, and Strangled (my favorite song from the Chris Barnes era), and She Was Asking for It.

I fucking love this channel. You guys do the best ranking the album type videos on the Tube, man. So much fun to watch, on top of the comments being intelligent and well-informed. Good shit! This one was really tough to do for me, and I think you guys hit the nail in the head - CC has a handful of clear standout records, but everything else is pretty good and generally better than the average death metal band. I first listened to those guys when Gore Obsessed came out. I have a fondness for that record because back when it came out I played the living fuck out of it. In retrospect, I agree with you guys that it is a bottom-tier album, with Compelled to Lacerate and Pit of Zombies being knockout tracks that I still jam regularly. And Nick, completely there with you re: Skeletal Domain. That record is overlooked. I myself completely ignored it when it came out but a couple years later when I checked it out I had it on repeat for weeks, and now I absolutely love it. My ranking, as of today, would be: 1. Bloodthirst 2. Violence Unimagined (unbelievably good) 3. The Bleeding 4. Kill 5. Torture 6. Tomb of the Mutilated 7. A Skeletal Domain 8. The Wretched Spawn 9. Evisceration Plague 10. Vile 11. Gallery of Suicide 12. Gore Obsessed 13. Butchered at Birth (hate the sound of that record) 14. Eaten Back to Life 15. Red Before Black (never grabbed me, but that could change someday)

2 minor gripes- it was actually during The Bleeding sessions that Scott said "mix your own fucking record". Apparently he did stuff like that a few times but it was more of a blowing off steam thing than anything serious. He also told Deicide the same thing. Trouble with Deicide is on a couple albums it really sounds like they took him up on it. 😂 From Skin to Liquid wasn't their first instrumental. That honor goes to Relentless Beating... But the fact you forgot that song kinda ties into the general consensus on Vile...its an easily forgotten record in a catalog of great albums, despite being Corpegrinder's debut. I can never understand how a dude who talks like Newman from Seinfeld can growl like that. I have to admit I fell off the Cannibal wagon after The Wretched Spawn and have just now started giving the later stuff a listen. Shame on me. Kill would have gotten me back on board if I'd paid any attention to it when it came out. And of course Violence Unimagined has been in steady rotation for me, mostly because I'll buy anything Rutan plays on. That guy could put out a five disc set of nothing but kazoo solos and it would have pride of place in my collection.

The Bleeding has some of the best riffs in all of metal. It’s one of those albums I can listen to front to back on repeat. It’s actually currently in my rotation, I can’t stop listening to it. my only real gripe is that while I do like Chris’ vocal tone and annunciation compared to earlier albums like Butchered At Birth and Tomb of the Mutilated, some of his performances on this album are not best. another small nitpick would be the mixing on the drums, I love the tight snare but the drums just don’t hit as hard as I’d like. from a songwriting standpoint it’s a flawless album. It has the perfect mix of technicality, groove, brutality and melody. the riffs absolutely phenomenal, the hooks are catchy and memorable, what more can you ask for?

Goddamn this was fun to watch and well worth the wait. Butchered at Birth on tape was my first Cannibal Corpse album I ever bought and it was the censored white cover that had the band and album name on it only and I can't believe I still have it when I've lost nearly all of my other music due to low life thieves and non payment of a storage unit back in the 90's...my bad. I won't go through them all but The Bleeding is definitely in my top three along with Kill. So, I own the preorder artbook with the tapestry, patch, and sticker for "Violence Unimagined" and I gotta say...their new album is most definitely in my top five, maybe even my top three. Honestly, I don't know exactly where to place it since I'm not going off of nostalgia on this one like I might be with The Bleeding. It's so damn good and Rutan has unquestionably brought so much to the band already. I know this album is still fresh but I can't wait to see what he'll come up with for future albums. Whenever they are touring for this record, I really do hope that they come somewhat close enough to this tiny little town I live in here in the corner of nowhere Kansas so that I can finally see 'em live after worshipping this band over the last 29 years. Killer ranking guys, this is quickly becoming my favorite channel on KZbin!!!

I remember being in the CD section of Wal-Mart as a kid years ago (before I was a metalhead), my dad was looking through some stuff and let out a chuckle: “Cannibal Corpse, that must be a heavy metal band!” He picked up the CD to look at the back, raised his eyebrows and just put it back down without saying anything else. He was correct, they are a metal band. Anyway, great band! I haven’t heard all the albums so I won’t post my own list but it’s still super cool to see your guys’ opinions on them. Imo Torture has to be the #1 album from Cannibal Corpse, not only because I discovered them from that album, not only because there is a good song in that album. The album is a masterpiece, the song titles describes 12 different kinds of "Torture" and that itself is pretty solid for me even tho If I remember correctly that I think it was Webster who said that this album has no story behind it or the song titles had no connection to the story. (Correct me of im wrong). But nontheless this album has a 5* 10/10 album title together with all the amazing songs together. Scourge of Iron was the first song i've ever heard from them from a Spotify shuffle while listening to Slayer in 2015. Seen them twice live, Denmark 2016 and Sweden 2018. Best experience ever!

I'm re-listening to the Cannibal Corpse discography so my rankings may change in the future, but here's how I rank them: 1. The Bleeding (one of my favorite death metal albums, at least a top 5 album. Easily Chris Barnes's best vocal performance. Too bad he couldn't replicate it consistently with 6FU, which he just regressed and that last 6FU was horrible) 2. Violence Unimagined (my God, after 14 prior albums, this one is amazing) 3. Torture (This was my favorite album with Corpsegrinder until the new one) 4. Kill 5. Bloodthirst (Corpsegrinder knocked it out of the park with this one) 6. Tomb of the Mutilated (first album I ever heard. Hammer Smashed Face...yes!, but I think the follow up plus a handful of albums with Corpsegrinder vocals are better) 7. The Wretched Spawn (love this album but fell due to other albums being better) 8. Vile (I like this album way more that you guys did, but that's okay. I'm glad they got Corpsegrinder as I prefer Corpsegrinder over Barnes. This was a change, in the long run, for the better) 9. A Skeletal Domain 10. Evisceration Plague 11. Gallery of Suicide (the title track is amazing, but nothing else was that amazing) 12. Eaten Back to Life (I agree, great production for a debut, but it's an okay album overall) 13. Red Before Black (same as Gore Obsessed, but a little better. It's a little too long as well) 14. Gore Obsessed (this album is their most straightforward, Cannibal Corpse being Cannibal Corpse, but nothing stands out here outside of Pit of Zombies, and it's kinda boring) 15. Butchered at Birth (The best part about this album is the album cover, but my least favorite. The production is awful on this.)

I would argue that Chris Barnes leaving Cannibal Corpse was one of the most controversial changes to a band in rock history. The Bleeding was such a great album if I recall there was some critical praise that came with The Bleeding. So to follow that with the ouster of the face of death metal with sure a technically more sound vocalist but still not a famous name expectations were huge. Looking back of course Cannibal made the right choice. What Cannibal Corpse suffers is the lack of variation in the meat of their albums. There are unique songs on the Corpsegrinder albums but so much is repetitive.
