Pat doesn't get near the recognition and respect within the guitar community that he deserves and I think it's simply because he plays death metal. His rhythm attack, riffing, and leads are sick! He's a badass!

He's a technical machine, and a total riffmaster, but I never really liked his leads or solos. They always sounded too random and without thought. Chaotic maxspeed shredding is cool at times, but when none of your solos ever contain any melodic elements and you never try to follow the underlying chords, it gets a little boring. To me, the solos James Murphy recorded with Death, Obituary, Cancer and Gorguts in the early 90s, are still the best Death Metal solos ever written. Can't really say that I've listened to the entire CC discography though, so Pat might have some gems out there that I've never heard. Still an amazing guitarist that doesn't get the recognition he deserves.
