I have a small orchard here at my house in Wisconsin. This has been my most productive year ever with both apple size and quantity. I didn't even have to get up on a ladder because the low hanging were so amazing. So far I've canned 9 jars of apple butter, 7 quarts of apple pie filling, and 42 pints of applesauce. And I still have apples left over! Maybe I'll try your recipe too.

Use the cores and peels to make your own organic apple cider vinegar. Add a little vinegar from a good quality unfiltered ACVl (with the mother), a little sugar or honey (1 TBLor so) and put in a clean sterilized large jar to accomodate all the cores/peels and top up with water. Put a glass or weight to keep submerged and cover with cheesecloth with a rubber band around the top. In a few weeks you have great vinegar!

I have tried many ways this one works easiest .. experiment it's fun ...can't loose. If you don't have any store bought here's a great recipe. I use the cores and skins as well, -fill a quart jar 3/4 with apple cores and skins -add 4 tablespoons sugar or honey, -fill jar with Filtered water, -stir well with a chop stick, ( no metal) -cover with cheese cloth and rubber band. -Stir vigorously every day for a week or so. I test with ph strip usually it's a 4.5. The warmer your room the faster it ferments - strain well put into clean jar - cover with clean cheese cloth - wait 3 weeks to mature then cap with lid . Enjoy😍

I canned mostly apple pie filling last time, so I’ve decided to can just apples in a light syrup. I pictured a light bulb shining in a word bubble above my head lol. I make my 96 year old grandmother’s apple dumplings recipe…very easy…you could use a few apples out of your jar and still have enough left for your pie: Either start with a can of crescent rolls or make your own dough and cut it into triangles that will wrap around a piece of your apple to cover it. Use a fresh apple, core and peel or use like a piece out of this jar of canned apples either will work the same way. Wrap each piece of apple in a piece of dough then place in a 9 x 13 casserole dish. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a saucepan add 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar or your favorite sweetener equivalent and 1 stick of butter together and heat on medium heat until butter is completely melted. Pour mixture over apples in casserole then sprinkle with cinnamon and put in oven and bake till dough is cooked golden brown. Remove from oven and turn off heat. Spoon mixture in bottom of casserole over dough and apples and return to oven to keep warm a few minutes until you are ready to serve. Also great with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top…yum yum!
