I would really like to know the difference between using the acid additive and just straight pressure canning if you know. My granny taught me canning but never did corn cuz she said it never worked. She didn’t have a pressure canner and corn is low acid. I’m doing my first batch ever of corn right now in my pressure canner only adding boiled water and a 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Am curious to know if one method is better than the other. Just did a batch of taters, chicken and hamburger (something granny never did) and am truly amazed at how darn good it is not to mention the fact that if our electricity goes out (it does a lot) I won’t be out hundreds of $$ in ruined food in the freezer but I have more room in my freezer now as well. With the food being canned & cooked it takes a fraction of the time to throw together a beautiful home cooked meal and you know it doesn’t have chemicals & crap in it.

Timber -- can you give us an UPDATE on the family? Who's gotten married, any nieces/nephews, or Kids of your own? How's Mountain Man? And, if you wouldn't mind, is there an update on your mother? Thank you

Hi! Loved your video! Just got a pressure canner! Can you tell me where I can get the corn acid from? Thank you!
@icecreamladydriver1606 Жыл бұрын
Honey you don't need corn acid. I have never even heard of it until now. You pressure can low acid food such as veggies and meats. Contact your county agent for instructions or find a copy of the usda canning book. County agent should have it.

I couldn't catch what you called the powder you put with the corn.? I do know a couple of old recipes called for a slice of tomato on top of each jar before putting your kids on. I suppose for adding acid to the corn.

I pressure canned creamed corn for 90 minutes, just like the ball book said, and it ruined it.. What is corn acid? I know what citric acid is, is that what I need?

If you water bath corn for 3 hrs. What temperature should it be on?
@markjob77365 жыл бұрын
212 degrees Fahrenheit. Water boils at that temperature.

You can not water bath corn, it must be pressure canned. Go to NCHFP site or look up Ball canning recipes for proper canning procedure. Not trying to be bossy but I would hate for you or your family to get sick from canned food that has not been properly canned.

I've canned corn for years! Put a slice of tomato, for the acid, on top. Seal and can for 3 hrs at a full boil. 1 in water over the lids, always. Keep boiling water handy to top off the water in the canned about every hour.

How come the ball book says to can it for 55 minutes? And you only did for 30

You say god bless so I’m assuming you’re Christian but your love of guns says differently. One of the commandments is Shall not kill. So I’d say that’s being a hypocrite.
@bonniegarber99154 жыл бұрын
Please, don't judge! Nothing in the Bible says you can't defend yourself, doesn't say you can't get your meat or protect your animals. I'm sorry you have such a dismal view of Christians. One thing I've always told people, don't look at me, look at Jesus. So look at these videos as a common sense way of doing things. Have a good day.

Not to be rude, but if you live where she does I’m pretty sure there are bears, raccoons, bob cats, etc. you gotta be able to protect yourself and a gun comes in mighty handy to bag a wild pig or a pheasant or two. I’m sure the pioneer christians wouldn’t have made it without firearms. Edit. I forgot to mention snakes as well.
@ConniRandwulf3 жыл бұрын
Just because you don't care for guns doesn't mean that God condemns us hunting and doing self defense. Killing is about murder. Not self defense.
