I also wanted to tell you Miss Patera that your videos even when you are warning about things that could potentially happen are very calming to me. This Grandma appreciates you so much! I have had to stop watching so many channels because I find myself fearful after watching them. Your videos have the opposite effect on me. We remain vigilant while leaving the things that we cant do much about in the Fathers hands. Thank You for all the time and effort you put into giving us your knowledge. I truly feel blessed

The time process is no joke. I just loaded 15 pints of random meats in broth that I got on clearance at the store. I'd rather spend a whole day canning now vs having to cook every single night.

Also make sure your stove is level. Mine wasn’t-DH moved it to clean behind it and didn’t level it when he put it back- I had two loads that half the jars didn’t seal. Checked whether it was level or not and the bubble was off touching one line not in the middle where it belongs. Fixed it and the next batch everything sealed.

Just tried my hand at canning for the first time today. Nothing too taxing, just water bath canning. I had a #10 can of tomato paste that I got really inexpensively and had to open it for a recipe. The rest is being canned today. First batch is done and the 2nd batch is in the canner now. My 82yo dad has an old pressure canner that he is giving me next time I can make it for a visit. I think I'm really going to have fun with canning this year. Thanks for inspiring so many of us to keep busy and stock our pantries.

I would have never thought to can hot dogs at all, but I'm sure with them peppers and onions they will be great! I took today off work and last night I canned 9 pints of black beans and also had my roaster cooking with all the chicken bones that had been in my freezer. Today I'm canning up some turkey, 4 pints of that and then filled up the canner with some more black beans so my canner would be full. Glad I could do that since they process for the same amount of time. Once the pressure has come down, I will pressure can up the chicken broth. Going to see what else in my freezers that I can take out and can for tomorrow.

Can the sliced hotdogs, onions & peppers with beef broth. Makes them really tasty. I get cans of Pork & Beans, like your Nana used with her spam. I sauté some onions, add hotdogs cut about a inch long, a little BBQ sauce, and a little extra dark brown sugar. I can these up in pints, and they are the best “Bennie Weenies” ever.
