Thank you for sharing your grandmother’s recipe 😊; about how much beets would say you used?

I should have weighed them, but I had a very large stainless steel bowl. I typically make the syrup for one recipe and then can my beets that I grow, and if I need more I just make more syrup. If I dont have enough beets and more syrup then I just freeze the syrup until I grow more beets. if you are making this recipe I would probably buy 2 or 3 bunches of beets. Hope that helps

I can hardly walk by the fridge without grabbing the pickled beet jar and a fork. I am and have been addicted to beets since I was a child. I can go through a jar in a couple days.

I use a few layers of cheese cloth for the spices tied off with string in my beet brine. Tea bags you're using are also a very good if a person can get them. Beet jelly is one of my fav's! Thank you for sharing. ❤

I sprinkle a touch of cloves and about 3x as much cinnamon into my brine. Just gives it that little something

I grew beets for the first time this year. Can't wait to can them. Were these water bathed or pressure canned? Thank you for sharing the recipe :)

Pickled beets are water bath canned from the vinegar

I am planning on planting a few fruit trees. But wondering what would be best here. We are in zone 7 a. So we have late freezes. A lot of our trees just die. But every once in a while one makes it. And we have soooo many deer on the property. We have to fence in all the trees or they eat them. The young trees.

You get alit more chill hours in 7a than I get in 9b… so i would check with your local nursery but I think if I lived there I would look into planting Bartlett Pear (cant grow here by me), Cherry, apple and santa Rosa plum. Good luck!

Can you put onions in there
@homesteadpatch86634 ай бұрын
I read online that you can process onions in the canner with vinegar brine that is 5% acidity, so I think that would work. But to be sure check the link for the National Center for Home food Preservation nchfp.uga.edu/#:~:text=The%20National%20Center%20for%20Home%20Food%20Preservation%20is%20your%20source,methods%20of%20home%20food%20preservation.
