I saw your video today December 30 2021 and I previously saw from Home stead Heart Channel. The texture of course won't be the same like cooking the rice in normal stove way but as an emergency storage food for me is perfect. Iam puertorican and canning is not a Hispanic tradition but I love it. I start learning from Home Stead Heart Channel and now I see yours. Thanks for your tutorial. In April I got Covid I was in Intensive care unit for 24 days and then 1 1/2 in regular room,I almost past away. God has Mercy on me and during that process my family 👪 didn't suffer for food because We were prepared with can food. I appreciate all you tubers for these tutorial God bless you all and againg thanks.

Hi there. First of all, I am so glad you pulled through. May God continue to bless you and your family. I love being self-sufficient as possible and can appreciate anyone else who does. You are right about the rice being a food source more so than the texture of rice we are accustomed to. I mentioned HH in the video because I have got the idea from her. I have another video showing how I prepared the rice once I opened it as well. Stay encouraged!! Happy New Year to you and your family!!

You can buy commercially canned spanish rice, what is the difference? I think I read the commercial canners, get the temperature up very quickly and bring it down very quickly, and for some reason that makes a difference between how they can it and doing it at home. In my opinion it should be safe, it you don't let it sit on the shelf too long, which may make the flavor not be optimal.

I live. In NY it’s been hard to figure out my altitude but I keep everything at 2000 cause that max only goes that low How many minutes should I could cook the rice for I’ve done it before and wheww it came out super mushy but it didn’t go to waste I made a Spanish dish that called arroz con dulce I want to try again but as I am on an income not allowing me to waste food I hope someone can give me an idea of how long I should cook the rice for I hope I made sense 🤷🏻♀️

Hi there. I actually made rice cake/Patties with mine. I did not get the exact texture I wanted but I keep in mind that there is so much you can do with this rice in a grid down situation. If you choose not to can this parboiled rice, should you freeze it before storing it? I keep seeing people freeze rice. I bought this same rice from Sam’s in bulk. I’m just wondering if I should freeze it before I put it up. Thanks in advance!
@greenlifegardenhomediy34142 жыл бұрын
Hi there. Most say they freeze it to kill pest. I personally would try different methods. I put bay leaves in one container to help ward off any pest. Look that up. Thanks for watching!🌸
@amycalladine4092 Жыл бұрын
Freezing does help kill off any larva that may come in products from different bugs etc. After bringing in moths in cornmeal one time I routinely rotate flours, mixes, grains , pastas, rice , nuts etc in the freezer just to be sure. I don't know how long you are supposed to do it, at least a few days I think.

The only way to get "true" minute rice is to dehydrate or freeze dry your cooked rice. It comes out exactly like minute rice. I have done it for years. I am very picky about my rice. I can't stand it to be mushy.
