hi Paul i lost you there for awhile as I'm busy home schooling children and basically in front of a computer most days. I agree we need a de-stresser and i finally got to put up jars of chunky tomato gravy for future use in many things. Your plumb sauce looks amazing and I'm sure on top of chicken or pork will just enhance it more xx take care and be well.

Not sure exactly where you are but the Walmarts in my area do carry star anise in the Hispanic spice section. You get a few in a little bag. I make a different version of plum sauce, it normally doesn't last long in our house.

Thanks for the tip on the star anise.😊👍

@@PaulsRuleofThumb Welcome. I went HUNTING for it like 8 yrs ago for another recipe and I found it by luck. I didn't even think to look in that section.

Hi Paul I was wanting to know if the plum sauce should be pressure canned because it has onions in it.
@PaulsRuleofThumb4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sarah.. the onion is not a significant ingredient and the sugar and vinegar create an acidic environment so it is safe to water bath.👍

Looks delicious. I'd leave it chunky since I love plums and prunes. I naturally self isolate for the most part. I usually only visit Dad (Lee's) and Mom (mine). Both are widowed. Mom is isolating right now but did drop some food off to us wearing a mask and staying six feet away. It's the first time I haven't hugged her before she left. We still visit Dad. He has a 10 lb. limitation from a previous surgery that left a hole in his belly and has to wear a bag to collect his urine. We help him out with projects. For instance recently Lee cut down the non producing apple tree that was leaning on Dad's electrical line and roof. The rest of us hauled the limbs to a burn pile. It's the only time Dad cooks larger meals as well. Lee and Daniel also go to their friends Mary and Charlie's house. I don't want to go as they have things there that I'm allergic to like 3 cats and either whatever their house smells like or the laundry detergent they use. I mostly stay home and it's the one place I can do all of my hobbies. I can't really drag around my consoles and dvd player that require a tv to work, all of my compact discs, and all of my kettlebells. Since we lost Thomas to SIDS nine years ago my hobbies are even more important to me. They are the only things that keep me from over thinking about my loss. I unlocked a game on my tablet and recently purchased a larger binder as well as sturdier dividers and paper so I can combine my video game notes (the things I tend to look up online for times I can't go online), general notes (I only clearly remember things tied to strong emotions and everything else is hit or miss so I keep extensive notes of what I want to remember), and my dream journal (I dream every night, during some naps, and even daydream a little; recently while I was awake I picture me teleporting to an arena where I tamed a beast onlookers thought would maul me and whistled for the Pegasus I befriended upon arriving in that world to fly me out of it; I've played games and read books where things like those exist).

O if I only had the plums. I love plum sauce. I just need the plums. For those that don't have a spice bag or an immersion blender. For the spice bag, place spice in a coffee filter and staple it shut. Easy to remove and pitch. For the blender replacement I used my Grandmother old Turkey roasting pan and set the extendable sink strainer over the pan. Dump the plum sauce into the strainer and run a wood spoon, or I used a spatula and just pressed it through those little holes. You think before you start. Genius your youngest Grandchild will be a grandparent before you finish this. No it is much faster than pulling out the devices and the clean up of them. Oddly. At least for me. I did this when I made the Plum Jelly. I thought maybe it would look funky but my BIL held it up to the light and put his mag lite on it and just as clear and pretty as could be. Plus any little pieces of pit or stem you will find in the strainer. Not in your sauce. Good to see you back Paul you men know I love ya. My family and friends so far so good. I hope y'all are as well. From me and mines to you and yours a Very Happy chag Pesach samech. I hope I got that correct. Be safe. Be well. Together apart, doing our part to win this war. Hugs. Love you both.
