I'm from the US. Been reading the book Follow the Rabbit Proof Fence. Never been to Aus so I had to look up the area to be able to visualize. It's beautiful. Thankyou for the views.

Thanks - it really is amazing scenery, and even to Australians a lot of people have no concept of what it's actually like out there in the much lesser populated parts of our country (almost 90% of Australians live within 50km of the coast). When I first read "desert", all I thought of was just endless, featureless sand - but it is really so much more.

Yeah, that joke just had to be done when I came across that track in my stock music provider! Thanks for your comment and glad you're enjoying the series!

Wow! The photography (videography?) is absolutely amazing. What usually prevents regrowth on tracks? Does it require dedicated maintenance? Incremental/haphazard maintenance? Or just regular use of the tracks?

In terms of a "track" like this, really just requires someone to drive down it and trample everything flat now and again...

Hey mate great video Im doing a fuel/ food run from parnnagurr to well 17 in September and just want to know a rough time it will take you think if i didn’t stop to get there, just hard planning my days on these tracks cheers Alan 🍻🍻

So Parngurr would join the track at Georgia Bore, just past Well 22, (I think), and so it's about 6 wells distance to Well 17. While driving, we generally averaged about 3 wells a day, or a bit over 100km, usually driving about 6-7 hours a day. We had better days, and we had worse days, and we had days where we just stayed at places for longer. I measured the distance from the point you hit the CSR and it's roughly 170km - you save a few km because you wouldn't detour off the track to go to Well 18 and 20. You do, however, go through Savoury Crossing, which can delay things quite a bit if it's impassible. If you don't stop and can average 20km/h (which may be asking a lot in some sections) - in theory that's just 8.5 hours, so maybe it's do-able in one day. I'm not sure how long it takes to get between Parngurr and Georgia Bore though as we didn't do this. You're right that it is hard to plan - I think it'd really depend on how fast you felt like driving, your vehicle, the track conditions, the weather, if or how long you had to wait for anyone else to pass...

You need to get into astro photography, you'd get insane photos out there at night :)

I should really give it a go. Wish I had the 13mm f/1.4 I have now (but it didn't exist yet before I left for the CSR), I'll have to try that out when I get a chance.

"Waste disposal track"??
@DropTableAdventures
@DropTableAdventures Жыл бұрын
Track Care WA's toilets are a composting type, and dump into a wheeled cart at the bottom of the platform. The point at which the waste is disposed of by digging a hole and burying it is not located right near the campsite, for obvious reasons :) - said track leads to that.

Like tektites and the like? Interesting - I guess they would stand out on the smooth and white surface.
