They look beautifuuuul but, as a sicilian, I feel the necessity to make some corrections 😂: in the dough we add some cocoa powder (which give them the characteristic brown color and the slightly bitter taste) and some vinegar (it helps to give even more crunchiness to the crust!). Also we use to mix the ricotta with the sugar the day before, let them sit in order to make the moisture come out and finally we sift the mixture to make it smoother (then we add the chocolate chips). Hope it was helpful!

So I‘m italian and I‘m always so happy to see how John really tries to be as authentic as possible. There are many recipes that ad a very american spin to italian cusine wich is perfectly fine but seeing John trying to follow the original recipe as much as possible always makes me happy.

@@nmpoy Oh get over yourself. If it was your national dish destroyed you would react too. At least he was being nice. Me I would have stated it's not really authentic and the shells are overcooked and overlapping and so on.
@nmpoy3 жыл бұрын
@@Mav_F destroyed??? very overdramatic. the only people that need to get over themselves are italians, like yourself i assume, on youtube who are constantly complaining under videos of italian foods about how “unauthentic” it is and how it’s done like this or done like that. and yet these comments from said italians are never homogenous either on those recipes so whats wrong with the video uploader doing it in a slightly different way as well? again, get a grip, it’s a food video for goodness sake
@Mav_F3 жыл бұрын
@@nmpoy lmao and silly people like you that think its authentic and need to complain about Italians comments on things. Its not authentic and Italians have a right to have a comment and just like you with you BS have to comment on something you have no idea about. Plus I think you are super jealous of Italians. Thank you for your typical keyboard warrior comments.

@@Mav_F not once did i say it was authentic. you might want to read my comment AGAIN and use your brain properly. i made absolutely no justification for people who do butcher recipes. im talking about the incessant comments from italians always complaining. im saying it’s redundant and not worth it. don’t put words in my mouth

I made the recipe for the cannoli shell. I thought it was missing something....maybe a little ground cinnamon. However......BIG HOWEVER.....they were absolutely delicious the next day!! They weren't as crunchy because I had them in the fridge with the filling. BUUUUTTTTTT, they were the bomb!! I will try the cinnamon in the dough next time, and I'll make your filling recipe as well!! They were fairly easy to make with the cannoli metal tubes. One trick that I did to prevent the dough from sticking to the tubes was to push down where the tubes meet to dislodge the cannoli from the metal before attempting to remove them from the cannoli. I'm so happy that I tried this wonderful recipe!!! I'll never have to purchase empty cannoli shells, which by the way are expensive. 😁🙃
