A few years ago my cousin was at her wits end with a forest fire bearing down on her ranch and 80 horses to evacuate...the neighbours started pulling up with their horse trailers and somehow all the horses were loaded and moved in an hour and a half!! In British Columbia, Canada...

In Northern CA we know the devastation of wildfires. I've been evacuated three times. When you started to tear up, so did I. I think there will be many in northern CA who'll send what's necessary to the south, as they did for us .Last time, I volunteered at the local fire station sorting donated clothing for those who lost everything, and then went to a restaurant that was packing food and made sandwiches for the firefighters and those with no kitchens. There are always ways to help, and it's so appreciated. Thank you for providing help to those with livestock in need of a place to keep them safe during your bushfires. This reminds me of the importance of keeping the go bag up to date. I'll have to check mine tomorrow. Also, because of the wildfires over the last few years, insurance companies here upped their rates, doubled and tripled, and many couldn't afford it anymore. What a sad commentary on our times....I hope they get the fires under control soon. It's so disorienting to be homeless, or evacuated.

Dear Libby, believe me when I say i share your grief over animals in fire. My house burned to the ground while I was visiting my daughter out of state. All was gone but the only heart wrenching loss was my 4 kittahs, my little canary colony, my house plant of 50 yrs., and my dear fish in their tank. Love all those around you each day--

Its all such a heartbreak, Libby. As an Angelino living in Colorado I watch in horror as my favorite places and friends' homes burn to the ground. The animals, yes. I've cried watching the fires in Australia, too. The poor koalas. I remember them all: that fire in Greece where people had to run into the sea. Maui. It's all such a heartbreak. I live in Glendale CA, next to Pasadena, and the winds on Tuesday were whipping around in gusts of 70-90 MPH. It was very frightening hearing things being blown about and knocked down. Every time I heard something knocked over or falling I was startled. Once the fires began it felt as if we were being surrounded by a ring of fire, and I started thinking about how I could evacuate if need be. Fortunately the wind died down during the day Wednesday and I was in no danger. Now, the positive side of any catastrophe is that friends check in on one another and offer help. I felt loved, and in turn I contacted others to let them know I was thinking about them and praying for them. Of course I offered my house for friends who might need to evacuate. The lesson here is that people care and they come running when you need help. Love wins!

It is so hard to watch people tie tags in their horses manes or write on their hooves. We recommend GPS tags ties in their manes now. I survived a house fire and I still remember it after 25 years. We lost our dog in the fire and I still can hear his cries-I still get emotional thinking about the whole thing. Yes things are replaceable and lives are not. But also think that the being out of our home was not by choice and had no closure. Because when you move out of a house, it’s a choice to move on and get closure. We had nightmares for months afterwards. I’m so sad to see anyone go through that kind of situation.

😭💔 I'm emotional too about the people in LA. I've been through two house fires myself and have been chased out due to wildfires twice as well. It is horrific! A terribly scary time. My Mom (at 89), sister and nephew all lost their homes when the whole town of Lytton BC burned down, I believe in June '22. Mom passed before she could see her new home being built, they are just starting to rebuild now.

My brother in law was in the CFA in Victoria Australia for 43 years and fought the big fires we had over the years Marysville, Ash Wednesday and black Saturday my sister was hosing down her roof while he was saving other people’s houses. Ah Libby, hubby came in as I was watching this & had to tell me something, so I missed what was said but looked back up as your emotions grabbed you & my heart lurched as I thought there was news on Team Granny. I wound the video back & yes fire is devastating. We went through a horrible fire here in 2020. Just east of us, several towns near complete loss & one was total loss. It got within less than 6 miles. I packed up the car, or dogs items legal docs while hubby cleared his work calendar. It was one of the most frightening experiences we had to drive north & west for more than 2 hours just to get out of the smoke! We sure respect fire now. Thanks Libby for your readings. Thank you so much for your well wishes for us here in Los Angeles. Our area was able to quickly put out the fire on our area. Yet we are close to the other areas with fire damage. The air quality is poor. We are wearing masks. Due to the low water pressure, we must boil our water to drink and/or cook. However, we are thankful and seeking methods to help those affected. If you can hear me across the seas and you're affected by the fires. From experience, massive fires took everything we had here in South Australia in 83, pregnant, two littlies, only the clothes we stood in. All record of our lives before were gone. (no computers, no mobiles) A few pointers. Trauma feels really really weird. It really does have stages. If down the track you start exhibiting any kind of out-of-place behaviour and someone says 'but surely you're over that fire, it happened years ago' forgive them. Get as much counselling as you can, accept kindness though you'll feel guilty, find a field or valley or stand in the sea and scream until you fall asleep. Don't be shy in reaching out. If you've got kids you'll function to keep them feeling ok. Family is everything to them. If you're not burnt out and want to donate. Please do not give the victims your old rubbish, things that are broken, especially toys. It's devastatingly cruel. There's a mindset that says 'well, you've got nothing so you should be grateful for anything'. These people become outraged if you don't thank them for shit. Look them in the eye. They have no idea. Volumes of love and support to all of you - we are all connected, energetically, cosmically. We are one consciousness. You're not alone.It will mean little if you're in shock. Try not to lose yourself but if you do disappear, i promise you'll come back, remodelled, more compassionate.
