LOVE CANNONDALE!!! I love all these bicycles!!! it is a dream!!

It would be amazing if there were more reviews of mid level bikes that mere mortals could afford. I feel like it's almost easy at this point to make a high end bike that is amazing, but much harder to deliver an excellent ride at a competitive, and reasonable, price point ($2500-$4000) due to the trade offs that need to be made.

The Lefty is so distinctive. How ingenious (and crazy?) of Cannondale to design it to look like it wouldn't work.
@cup_and_cone8 жыл бұрын
Other worldy at the time it came out! While other companies were still making super flexy forks that bound up on the wiper bushings and felt like less travel than they were, the Lefty felt ridiculously plush because it didn't bind under flex since it rode on pin needle bearings.

Mike Britton I have a Scalpel full carbon and I love it. I have rode a ton of bikes and nothing comes close to my Scalpel. Its so light and it climbs like a billy goat!! n its even better on the descents. I upgraded to mostly Crank Brothers parts rims,bars,pedals n seat. I also put a KS LEV dropper post on it. I don't see myself buying another XC bike in a long time...but I am buying a YT for downhill...cheers mates...

it does pull to the right!!! I have had 3 cannondales with lefty's; 2000 F3000 SL, 2010 Scalpel Team Replica, and now 2015 Trigger Carbon2; ALL OF THEM PULL TO THE RIGHT IF YOU TRY TO RIDE HANDS FREE FOR EVEN A SECOND!!! Yes it rides straight when you are grabbing the bars with both hands but I really miss my 1995 Cannondale F1000 with a headshock. Where I could once in a while take my hands off the bar and ride quite a while hands-free stretching my upper body. All the leftys pull to the right!!! THEY ABSOLUTELY DO!!

I have two Scalpel Carbon Team bikes, one upgraded to Eagle drive, both have ben converted away from the OPI stem. I also have 2 other bikes with conventional front forks. I love the Lefty, the Scalpels are far superior to anything I have been on. That being said, I also have two spare Lefty XLR Carbon forks for a quick change out until I get a chance to do some maintenance if needed. As far as people complaining about price…..my cycling habit with 6 bikes total keeps me broke anyway. Who needs electricity or running water???

@iSangreVerde8 жыл бұрын
So true. I race marathon and XC and it still amazed me to see so many people on 1x. For me, 2x it's perfect. You can spin on the climbs (and more important save the legs if it's too long and step) and rush the downhill with ease and speed.
@cup_and_cone8 жыл бұрын
Average WorldCup climb is under 2 minutes and races less than 90 minutes. The days of long and slow grindouts on big fireroad climbs is over. Now it's just full sprint uphill at race pace. Cannondale was one of the first to adapt 'less is more' gearing focusing on usable gears...while other companies were making triples (44-34-24) 18 years ago, Cannondale was making doubles (44-29). They were also the first to persistently use disc brakes in a v-brake era. Or 1.5" headsets instead of 1 1/8". Or step away from heavy cartridge BBs. And use shaved welds to eliminate stress risers on all frames. And use electronic lockout (ELO). Make tapered tubes common. Etc. Innovative as hell, albeit their bikes had quarks.

@ravichudasama43498 жыл бұрын
why does it only have one suspension fork
@SmevMev8 жыл бұрын
Twin-leg forks can jam up in corners because of chassis flex, so Cannondale designed around the problem by make a single-leg fork, the Lefty, which should stay much more supple in the corners. There are videos on yt demonstrating the idea. There's the added bonus that it helps with the weight and you can fix punctures without removing the wheel. Bit behind in terms of damper performance though, apparently.

Beware: Read Cannondale’s fine print in their Limited Warranty Policy. They may use it against you for their best interest. My $5000.000 carbon fiber frame Jekyll broke after only six years of use. Cannondale never made a finding that it was due to use or abuse. A hairline crack formed at a weak point in the frame. The bike was sold to me with a lifetime warranty on the frame. The best offer Cannondale gave me, under their lifetime warranty, was 20% off of retail - yes, that is right 20% off of retail. I fought them on it over a two month period and lost. So, I am now stuck with a 34lb paperweight. Cannondale has what I feel is the worse warranty in the bike business. If you do purchase a Cannondale bike and something goes wrong, know that they probably will not work with you at any level in your best interest. In my opinion, they do do not value you as a customer, they only value your money. This has been my experience

It went together easily in less than an hour. kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L Make sure the front fork is forward or the pedals will hit the front tire. Tires are both a little soft so it needs air before I ride it. The rear wheel didn't come with a clamp regular bolts hold it on. The front had the clamp. No scratches out of box. Rims are a little off with a slight wobble. They could have spent more time with the spoke tool fixing the run out. So far out of the box I'm happy with it. I did replace the pedals with a nice aftermarket set. After riding it a bit my A$$ is a bit sore so I ordered another seat. Overall I'm nearly 60 and didn't ride a bike in 30 years. I like my new 29" Schwinn. It will be used for casual rides with my friend.

It's money making bullshit.
