It's just crazy how good B&Ms are overall for the general public and enthusiasts. All there different types have completely different feels, the general public like the sit-down loopers while enthusiasts like intense inverts but both sides enjoy them all, especially hypers. It's just the patterns on how some of the layouts are to simular to each other or feel to simular. Canobie Coaster would say: Number 14: Katun at Mirabilandia. This hulking invert is very forceful. The first drop is one of the best of the genre, as it has whip at the start and some floater airtime afterwards. Then you have six intense inversions. The vertical loop is an automatic greyout for me. The other five inversions are notable for their snappiness. This coaster holds its speed well and is tucked a bit back from the midway, so it gives a sweet night ride. If I ask you, which restraints does Katun use? What color are the restraints? Always great to see a coaster countdown from the #1 best coaster man on the planet, Mr. Canobie! My Favorite B& M's for me, not in order are Raptor, Gatekeeper - because the air in the front clears out my allergies, 325, Orion, and Nitro/D-back tie. A few of the peeps I went to Cedar Point with loved Valravyn the most in the entire park. The the first half also hits you with positive Gs rising into an Inmelmann and also a big turn into the mid-course brake run. The second half kicks things off with another steep plunge with good floater airtime and a fur near-miss, but the end sort of just fizzles out. If I ask you, which restraints does SheiKra use? Canobie Coaster would say: Number 8: Mako at SeaWorld Orlando. Considered by many to be the best B&M hyper in the US, I see the argument. The outward has some uber sustained floater airtime, particularly on the first camelback. The return run is not as airtime focused though. Instead, you have some highly banked turns above the midway and water. The visuals are nice, but I would prefer some extra airtime. The ride's first half and setting by the water are more than enough to elevate it above most of them. If I ask you, which restraints does Mako use? What color are the restraints? Canobie Coaster would say: Number 43: Silver Bullet at Knott's Berry Farm. This inverted coaster starts off with an embarrassment of a first drop. I know ramps that are steeper. But honestly I love everything that follows. The vertical loop has some really good force to it. The funky wave turn offers some neat views and a pinch of weightlessness. The cobra roll is pretty good too, and then the finale really picks things up. You have a floaty zero-G roll, two decently snappy corkscrews, and an extremely forceful helix over the water. I love the sequencing. And this one has seemed to get better with age. If I ask you, which restraints does Silver Bullet use? What color are the restraints? Do you think they are an issue?

Then you jump into the coaster section. This is one of the smaller dive machines, but I do like the elements. You have a really good drop. Plenty of airtime and it goes into a misty tunnel. The inmelmann is just ok, but I love the float of the zero-G roll, the force on the helix, and the airtime on the final bunny hill. This company's original hyper coaster's airtime is not as strong as their newer hypers, but it is still very sustained at least. That's especially true in the back row on the first drop and plunge into the far turnaround. This may have the best setting of any of their hypers as it runs through the woods and drops down to the water at several points. Canobie Coaster would say: Number 10: Goliath at La Ronde. This ride may not top 200 feet, but it may have the most floater airtime of any B&M. This ride is just one camelback after another. Some may call the layout bland or unoriginal, but I will never complain about a seemingly endless barrage of airtime. It's all floater airtime, but each moment is very sustained. This one also doesn't have a mid-course brake run just like another Goliath you'll see higher up on this list. B&M is a company I have sadly little experience of: while I've been to multiple parks that had some, the only one I've actually ridden is Batman: The Dark Knight at SFNE, a smaller-than-average floorless which (mostly metaphorically) lives in the shadow of the park's top two coasters. It's a solid, enjoyable ride that is all about a series of forceful inversions, but somehow lacks an X factor that makes it stand out. It has a near-clone in India: Nitro at Imagicaa, India's biggest roller coaster. That seems to be a slightly larger and generally subtly improved model, with a punchier first drop and an extra turn at the end.
@CanobieCoaster Жыл бұрын
Batman isn't one of the better floorless coasters. It's a fine ride, but it doesn't have the power of their bigger coasters.
@MattMcIrvin Жыл бұрын
@@CanobieCoaster The way I think of it is, if it lived at a small park, Batman: TDK would easily be one of the standout rides, maybe the park's main draw. But at a Six Flags, at least a Six Flags with that one-two punch, it's just not. I missed my chance to ride Dueling Dragons/Dragon Challenge and pre-retrack Hulk on my one trip to Universal Orlando, thanks to stomach trouble that had me a bit timid about big thrill rides. And on my one adult trip to Hersheypark, the need to escort a small child cut down on my big-coaster riding and Great Bear missed the cut.
@MattMcIrvin Жыл бұрын
...You can also, though, look at it in a glass-half-full way as the foremost of Six Flags New England's supporting coasters. The rest of that lineup has a lot of filler, but Batman is solid. People have been speculating about what SFNE could replace Goliath with, whenever Six Flags gets around to building stuff again, and I like the idea of putting a B&M dive there, maybe one of the smaller ones. They're crowdpleasers and it's something the whole region doesn't really have; Canobie's Eurofighter is about the closest thing that exists, not really the same. Might require taking out the other Boomerang, but who cares.

It was my first time riding Raptor 4 years ago with no expectations and it blew me away (only other B&M inverts I've ridden were: Silver Bullet, Batman and Flight Deck). The first drop was great, the inversions were definitely snappy, the dive after the mcbr was surprisingly good and I enjoyed the helix (my least favorite element on most coasters). My #4 favorite ride at CP. Batman is pretty good and intense, but too short. The drop does nothing for me as well. Flight Deck was even shorter but had a surprisingly great drop. And it has a very similar layout to the aforementioned Kraken, just with an added corkscrew and a bit more power. The inversions have good force or snap with the highlight being the insane zero-G roll. The train is violently pushed through it, inducing wicked laterals for all. If I ask you, which restraints does Dragon Khan use? What color are the restraints? Do you think they are an issue?

You've got Candymonium a lot higher than I do, that's for sure. I've found it to be fairly weak every time I've ridden, essentially a family coaster given inflated stats. I thought maybe it was that I had ridden enough coasters that B&M hypers had lost their luster but since my rides on Candymonium I've gone to Carowinds and Kings Island. Intimidator was great and Diamondback was as good as I remembered. And I'm perfectly ok with Candymonium being weak! It balances Hershey's lineup nicely. If I want a good hyper at Hershey I'll go ride Skyrush.
@CanobieCoaster Жыл бұрын
I like how Skyrush and Candymonium are in the same park. Two hypers with wildly different airtime.
@urbex_coasters Жыл бұрын
@@CanobieCoaster Yep, they balance each other nicely. Candymonium and Skyrush are as different as Phantom's Revenge and Steel Curtain (2 PA parks with 2 hypers that are wildly different from each other, huh). Resulting from that, I end up not being the biggest fan of Candymonium (heck I'd take Comet over Candymonium, grant it I rank Comet higher than most but still) but I recognise Candymonium is exactly what Hershey needed: something big that will please the GP who don't do Skyrush. That's my opinion at least. Maybe I've just gotten unlucky with it (and seeing how high a lot of enthusiasts rank it, I'd say that's likely). It'll get another go this year when I go to Hershey to check out Wildcat's Revenge (planning a Lakemont-Hershey-Adventurepark USA trip).

Canobie Coaster would say: Number 9: Goliath at Six Flags Over Georgia. This is one of the more powerful B&M hypers. Every single drop and bunny hills on this one seems to give stronger floater airtime than usual. And the far turnaround is one of the best B&M has ever made. It is an extremely intense downwards helix that causes me to lose my vision. This one is also super well-paced and I like how it runs outside the park's main boundaries. If I ask you, what would you rate it?

Out of the gate in your 50th spot is one of my top nine favourite B&M coasters I've ridden: Riddler's Revenge. My others are Gatekeeper, Raptor, Tatsu, Behemoth, Leviathan, Yukon Striker, Nitro and Raging Bull. Next on this list of yours comes my 10th favourite B&M I've ridden: X-Flight. @#46 you have Raptor. I don't think it'd be my favourite B&M invert id I'd ridden all the ones you have, but it's the best I've ridden so far and it's also not only my 1st B&M but the 1st coaster to break every stat record on a coaster for me when I rode it May 21st 2018, beating out Rolling Thunder at SFGA which I rode in 1981. (R.T. sucked. Even then I knew it didn't hold a candle to Coaster at Playland in Vancouver) Raptor still remains the coaster I've ridden most likely to cause me to grey out due to its long duration of positive Gs and I like it better than Maverick at the same park. Gatekeeper: This is Cedar Points most underrated roller coaster by a long shot. I like it even better than not only Raptor but also TTD and Maverick as well as Magnum XL-200. I only prefer MF and to Gatekeeper SV at CP. Before riding Raging Bull I'd heard that it's a twister layout. That's true for the last 1/4 of the ride, but I also found no less than seven clearly noticeable airtime moments on Raging Bull the 1st time I rode it in row 5; (1: drop; 2: Camelback, 3: Twisted dive drop after that camelback; 4: Drop off the MCBR; 5: Following camelback; 6: dive under the lift hill into the twister section &: 7: last dip before the final left hand turn up into the EBR) all of which were better further back in the train. I've never ridden Apollo's Chariot, but I don't see how it's better than Raging Bull. Nitro is the most efficient B&M hyper when it comes to drop vs length but really gets elite considering it's 36 passenger 3 car ops trains and the fact that most of the layout is serviced for guests. Not only that: it goes out into the woods and gives graceful rides for everyone. I can't even see how anyone, even anyone that hates roller coasters can hate Nitro. It also provides the best view of NYC (also visible from El Toro, Medusa and possibly Green Lantern) since Nitro is the tallest coaster at SFGA except Kingda Ka where there's not enough time to even get a chance to see NYC. I've never ridden Diamondback or Intimidator but until I ride both I'll never understand why anyone can like Intimidator better than Diamondback. Diamondback has two untrimmed camelbacks immediately following the drop, but Intimidator has a turnaround after the drop instead, immediately followed by a trimmed camelback which keeps being repeated with another turnaround and another trimmed camelback. Even without the trims: the layout is still inferior to Diamondback and the settings only reinforce that. The only thing I could think of that might change that is that I've heard Diamondback has a worse rattle than Intimidator, but but this isn't the time or place for stupid rattlesnake jokes. Yukon Striker: Best Dive coaster I've ridden. Also: (and I copyright this claim): As of February 18th 2023: Yukon Striker has the biggest drop of any coaster that features inversions. Yukon striker is pure thills from drop to MCBR. Now that might not sound like much, but you and I know it is. In fact: Yukon Striker IS the best B&M Dive coaster with the possible exception of Griffon which I've not yet ridden. I can understand putting Montu ahead of Nemesis, but I can't understand how you put Nemesis in front Katun or Leviathan. Goliath at La Ronde looks awesome but if I correctly recall: last time you put it behind Behemoth. Behemoth has staggered seating 8 car trains but Goliath has straight across 9 car trains with shorter drops which is so far a fair comparison. I love the amount of untrimmed camelbacks following the drop before the turnaround of Goliath, which is more than the other B&M Goliath or Diamondback. But like Diamondback: Behemoth has the longer trains, more airtime and the longer ride. I like it better than Leviathan by a sliver. I'm less passionate about how you think Goliath at La Ronde and Behemoth compare, but that doesn't mean I don't care. Unless I'm mistaken: the last time I checked you liked Behemoth better than Goliath at La Ronde. That's ok; I guess it's hard to choose. In any case: Goliath at La Ronde is the most beautiful coaster in the world to look at from an off ride POV. As of now: my only bucket list B&M coasters I've not yet ridden on this list are Diamondback and the top four. This B&M countdown was epic, thanks for posting!
@CanobieCoaster Жыл бұрын
I always preferred Diamondback to Intimidator before 2022, but the latter ran untrimmed and is smoother. I rerode the Canadian ones this year so that's why their placement moved around.

@@CanobieCoaster Fair enough. It is a shame Diamondback is as rough as it is but I also think Diamondback and Goliath at La Ronde have the best layouts for sustained airtime. I'd love to see a giga sized version of either; starting with a drop of at least 345'. That'd be my dream B&M.
