Had to crawl in ontop the walkers of the 850 Massey a few times. Never a fun job. Used to ha e problems with the chopper plugging too if it got tough or the weeds weren’t fully dried down. Don’t think we ever went one complete harvest with it without dropping some straw. Rained on and off today again. Didn’t amount to much but sure didn’t dry much either.

Same kind of day here with only about a milimetre of rain but no drying happening.

haha if i had a dime for every time i was sent on top or inside to unplug one of our old massey's i would be rich, but i do miss it. hate to hear the rain put a pause on things but luckily you got less than we did. i have two gauges around the yard and both read over an inch of rain. hope it dries up soon and harvest runs smooth for you

Thanks. Somebody said 4 inches at Cupar.

Didnt know this was up. Sheesh. Just popped up. It rained here again this morning. We havent combined since Saturday now.

KZbin never notifies me about new videos either. Got in a day on canola today as the standing wheat was still over 16% this morning.
@jeremycherny20412 ай бұрын
@roosty6 that's good to hear you got rolling. Worst case 16 wheat will keep for a year. Apparently, some of mine was that tough when I hauled it in. 🤷♂️

Oh that’s so neat ,you got a 7721. Very cool.

Thats one thing I've never done is plug up the beater when we used to run JD walkers. But we don't cut the big thick crops you do either. How did you get your pump rebuilt?
@roosty62 ай бұрын
On those machines they used a skinny little belt to drive that rear beater that it seems to be the weakest link in the chain. That cylinder drive won't slip though. Hydraulic pickup motor was really hard to get the right seals for. All the jd numbers checked out yet when the kit came one seal was not right. Ended up a hydraulic shop in the city had the right one and my brother installed it. JD wanted over $1700 for a new motor so that was not a good option. Seal kit was $120.

Good evening Roosty. I don't miss plugged walkers. Spent way too much time inside, digging them out.. usually had to take a walker or two home to fix..
@roosty62 ай бұрын
Hi Ed. Thats one problem we won't have on the axial flows.

@@roosty6 although, we have plugged the rotor a few times..

I only recall plugging the rotor once in 25 years on some greenish durum straw.

G day Ed what does 20 litres of hy-tran cost down there. Boy things r getting crazy Ths
@GosselinFarmsEdGosselin2 ай бұрын
@@donvoll2580 good day Don. I honestly can't tell you, when we need it, we just get it. The last price I remember hearing, was $125/5 gallon bucket.. I think it's higher now. Crazy!!

getting something done is better then getting nothing done lol

Thats true but it gets late real quick and I don't want to have crop left out when snow comes.

@@roosty6 ya the crops wont like that lol..

still think theres a market for a modern pull type
@roosty62 ай бұрын
As dessicating crops becomes more popular, swathing becomes less popular so that eliminates the use of a pull type combine.
@goatfarmmb2 ай бұрын
that sure doesn't sound like fun climbing ontop of the straw walkers and laying on top of em, hope ya don't have to do that again this year. hope that rain stops for a few days with some nice warm weather oh was wondering did you combine that wheat field that you swathed awhile ago? awesome video as always
@roosty62 ай бұрын
Hi Urs. That wheat field I swathed was only 40 acres and it was the first one I combined. Then combined another hundred acres or so before the rain. The rest is still standing. Hopefully to be straight cut by the 1660.
