Canola School: Should you chase moisture when seeding?

Very interesting, been from Australia we have dry sown canola for last few years, some guy did better sow between last year wheat stubble that hold moisture n better soil structure. We burn stubble and sow the usual depth with Flexi coil 820 tine seeder. I reckon finding better seed for dry conditions makes big difference as 2002 drought was fail crop but last year with less rain then 2002 we did better crop with average yields with same seeder but different varieties of seed.
