This video just made me realize I don't have the latest version. I don't have the contacts for the Zoom adapter. The 18-135 was my first lens ever with a 70D and I still love it. I did a less involved review on the lens as well and I found your video searching "canon 18-135". I've been looking at the Sigma for the past few hours and you got me thinking. Hey Asfilm 👋! Thank you! The Nano USM version is the latest version of this lens. STM and USM are the focusing motor tech used inside the lens. Stepping motor vs ultrasonic motor. In my experience, STM is a little smoother for video but all of Canon's newer lenses have good, quite focusing. I've only used the Nano USM version of this lens on my 80d and it's focusing is great for video and photography. Hope this helps and thanks for the comment. 👍

I just ordered the 18-135 stm used in exchange for my 18-55 iii kit lens I mainly want to use it for video since my kit lens has no stabilization , and as a backup to my 50mm 1.8 I paid 120 USD for the exchange . Please tell me I'm doing the right thing and i got a good deal 😅 lol ,thanks , your video is great and made me love it even more

I use the STM version of this lens on my Canon C100 mk2. Bought used from MPB for £172.00 and I've never regretted buying it. The autofocus and stabilization are great and with the C100 the aperture change whilst zooming is automatically compensated for. Yes you got a good deal.

Does it perform really much better then the 18-55mm IS STM ? In therms of sharpness/image quality?

Hey Cosmin Danes 👋! The 18-55 is just a tad sharper if you pixel peep... but the 18-135 gives you more reach and little better stabilization. If I was shooting video I'd get the 18-135. For photography I'd choose another lens... Probably the ef 70-300mm. It really depends on what your shooting.

@@iamToddNorris thanks mate, but how can be 18-55mm sharper than the 18-135mm? I heard the opposite, like you said "a tad sharper" but in favour of the 18-135mm. I mostly do landscape where i got my 55-250mm and for portraits i got my 50mm f1.8.. i was thinking at the 18-135mm more as an walk around lens. (For the moment i got my 24mm pancake to do the job)

@@cosmindanes9435 there can be variances in each copy of the lens due to the precision of optical manufacturing, but generally speaking, it has been my experience that lenses with bigger focal ranges have to make sacrifices some where and usually that's in the optical performance. It's just physics. In most cases prime lenses are sharper than zooms. With that said, the difference between these two lenses in regards to sharpness is minimal, especially on the wide end. The 18-135 gets softer and looses some contrast after the 120mm mark but it's minimal. That's been my experience anyway.

Mas, my Canon 18-135 is nano lens is loaded with 80 D, it's totally dead, bro... The auto focus doesn't work... after I unpacked it, it turns out that the flexible cable didn't break... so what's broken? ...?? Please help..

Hey sandi Idris 👋. Did you check the auto focus switch on lens? It will say AF and MF. Make sure it's set to AF.

@@sandiidris1918 Sorry to hear that Sandi. Contact Canon and see how much it would cost to repair. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a new lens. I wouldn't recommend putting the lens back on your camera until it's fixed. It could short out and fry your camera too.

Hey Basileos 👋. Yes. I haven't had any issues with any ef-s lenses on my M50. Just make sure you get the right ef-m adapter for ef-s lenses.

Hey Rahul 👋! This lens has strong barrel distortion at the wide end and pincushion distortion when zoomed in - if you're shooting RAW. If you shoot jpeg, the camera will auto-correct it in camera. Hope this answers your question and thanks for the comment.

@@jacquesbarendpetromay3539 the 24-105 is a full frame (EF) lens. So if you plan on upgrading to a Canon full frame camera in the future it might be a better option. You could use it on your existing camera and when you bought a full frame camera you'd already have a lens for it. The latest version is going to be sharper than the ef-s 18-135 too. But if you don't plan on upgrading to a Canon full frame camera in the future, I'd stick with the ef-s 18-135mm. Lenses like these that have wide and telephoto focal lengths are not always the sharpest. Their strength is that they're versatile because you don't have to keep changing the lens for different focal lengths. The downside or cost of that is you lose image quality. Hope this helps.

@@jacquesbarendpetromay3539 it depends on what you're wanting to shoot. Are you doing video or images only? Are you going to be shooting indoors or outdoors? Sports or wildlife? Or are you looking for a general all purpose, walk around lens? I always recommend the ef-s 24mm stm or ef 50mm stm lenses after someone's outgrown their kit lens but if you have something specific your wanting to photograph I'd recommend a lens specific for that. Another great lens for your camera is the ef-s 55-250mm (the latest version). I have a couple of reviews on my channel for these lenses as well as some videos with shots I took.

what is wrong with your contrast?

Hey tibfox. On my earlier videos I was producing videos that color's ranged from 0-255, where 0 is black and 255 is white. While this looked fine on my end, some displays expect broadcast safe color range from 16-235. This caused issues on those screens. I've since moved to a broadcast safe color spectrum of 16-235 so that my videos are consistent across all platforms and display technology. I apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your feedback 👍.
