Canon 1Dx - What are my thoughts after 560k Shutters?!

@@joewhitnallphotography Yep. Even my 5D (original) purchased in 2005 stil works. I really don't use the 1DX much anymore (too heavy to travel with) and rely on my R6 now.

I bought one it has all most 1 million actuations and still going strong I believe you can get the shutter replaced.

@@harrygilliland5675 Yeah, they last forever. Mine will probably outlive me, especially since I shoot on a mix (over 20) of cameras. They can be purchase now

I still use my 1dx along with my 1dx mark III as well. Best Press cameras ever. I do not see myself going Mirrorless. Hopefully when the R1’s are actually selling I can buy a second 1dx mark III cheaper as prices go down with everyone chasing the Mirrorless bandwagon.

I just picked a 1D X a couple of months ago in mint condition with only 13k actuation's. I'm loving it with my 300mm f2.8 mark I with a 2 x extender.

I have recently bought a 1D X from eBay, risky, I know but it seemed such a bargain. I won the auction at £419.00. Came with battery and strap. First time out I noticed dust when post processing. So its in a canon dealership having a full service and sensor clean for £180. Fantastic camera (334000 clicks).

I bought Canon 1DX last year in november, it was used 10 years, now shutter count is 562.000 and i am very glad! I am a commercial and wedding photographer. I think this camera will brings me money next 5 years.

Picked a 1Dx last year, so I've had a chance to put it through its paces. It had less than 9000 shutter clicks and was in mint condition, but no box. So not having the box isn't a great indicator of quality. It's performed perfectly, in fact the only issue has been the availability of spare batteries as they're now no longer supported, saying that I managed to get a battery just recently from MPB that again seems to be mint, so overall I'm a happy chappie...

@@joewhitnallphotography Oh the 1Dx came from Wilkinson Camera, total bargain, it just needed a sensor clean. Serial puts it as a 2016 body.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and great reviews Joe. I just scored on a 1Dx fully checked and sensor cleaned for €289 incl. shipping from an online Kamera store in Finland. Only catch is the shutter count is a bit on the high side at 400k+ and when previewing images, there is a line across the LCD that is not present in the actual images when downloaded. Fingers crossed it will be a good body! I have been dreaming about owning this camera since first launch. Looking forward to testing the body with my Sigma 400 f5.6 APO HSM Macro and Sigma C 150-600mm EOS lenses

How do you get a shutter count? My software says take an image and pop card into computer and drop image into it. It’s the same number as is on the screen on the back of the camera is this right?

On the 1Dx go into the menu, Then Battery Info and its there

I asked Goecker in Copenhagen, and they told me of a photografer whos had two 1dx'es with each 2,5 milliom on each body. Original shutters. He wanted them changed for good measure, while still available (no more). 1DX II and 1DX III does not seem to fare as well in general. Kind regards.

I would go with the 5d personally, delivers an amazing image and you don't have to shoot in Manual mode if you don't want too

Mine crapped out at under 400 000 actuations and nobody offers repairs these days. If anyone in the UK can recommend somewhere that still repairs these things, please do. Canon, Fixation, DKAVS and a couple of others have been unable to fix mine.

The tracking on the R10 will be something you will miss, Have you used Manual on the R10 yet? As this will be what it would be like on the 1Dx

Hi Joe, i just bought one from MPB through a friend over in the UK. At 126k shutters, it was listed as Heavily Used (?!) for £350, but other than a few scratches here and there, the only visible blemish was the cracked glass covering the top LCD. Do you think it was an ok buy? Or did I screw up??😅

I still use this camera for ALL commercial work. It has always been solid and IQ is very acceptable for work going into the future. I will never sell it as its made $$$$$ for me.

I got a 1DX MK1 and if you know how to handle it you will never need to buy another camera again. Everything else just ends up being G.A.S and overkill (look at all the PRO images that have been shot using 1DX over the years, just confirming the facts of the matter). We now have WAAAAY more than we ever need, but still some like getting "drunk" through by manufacturers feeding us new spec, new features, new this + that, faster this + that.... even though its not needed to shoot a great photo 99 times out of a 100.
