One of your great strengths is that you separate your reviews for full and crop cameras. I don't know how much time I wasted watching reviews for lenses on full frame when I only have crop and don't plan on changing soon.

I have an APS-C Canon camera and own the 24 and 50. Very good lenses, especially considering the price. They are quite different, though. I would describe them as "general photography lens" for the 24 mm and "portrait lens" for the 50 mm.

Excellent review. The 40 was the first I bought 2 years ago, cause I wanted to try a prime. Recently I tried to shoot different motives, and nothing seemed to work. Bought the 50 first, and 3 weeks later the 24. I love all of them and they improved my pictures drastically. I never use the kit lens again, as it just garbage and gave me so bad results, that I almost quit photography as a hobby.

When I bought my Canon, I bought the "Zoom Kit". In the box, I didn't get the standard 18-55mm, but I got the Canon 18-135mm IS STM instead. Can't say that this is a bad lens. :) But, obviously these lenses are from a different quality level...

Very comprehensive explanations and more importantly, it has demonstrations and examples galore. (VERY important for people who are looking to purchase lenses!) I like the conciseness of each segment that was covered and its thoroughness. Great summary, too! I'd give 50 'likes' if I could but sadly, I can only click it once. Thanks for the awesome review!

I don't have the 28mm, just the 50 and 40mm. There is no doubt, at least on my lenses, the 50mm is sharper and has better focus than the 40mm. Because I've been so disappointed with the 40mm, I'm selling it on Ebay. I really wanted to like the 40mm, but after using the 50mm STM lens, I'm spoiled. I use it on both full frame and crop. I can't believe how sharp the 50mm is. I had several missed shots with the 40mm. Just one person's opinion of course.

On 24mm the manual focus is practically impossible. It is very good only with auto focus. On far and small subjects autofocus doesn't work well. So it is a good lens for all day photography, tourism, family. I use it on A+ mode and it works just great. I don't like it in landscapes because I don't like autofocus in this situations. i have 77d. for video which one would be best ? 24mm or 50mm ? in terms of focus speed etc! i mostly need for photos with bokeh and video with fast af. shall i get 24mm and 50mm both or get the 10-18mm ? i currently have 18-55 stm kit lens.

10-18 is extreme wide angle with slow aperture; you won't get shallow depth of field with it. 24 and 50 will have similar focus speed on 77D. They have completely different angle of view, it's up to you what you need.
