I have two 5Div bodies, 5Dsr, R6ii, and a ton of L glass. Both DSLRs have grips and are literally extension of my hand. 5D series has been refined to near perfection (same probably goes to Nikon DSLRs). My fingers know the button placement and fly through settings changes without even looking. I feel no disadvantage whatsoever when using a DSLR. 1Dx series cameras are very nice too but more expensive and I like the flexibility of removable grip. Mirrorless camera is fun to use but I find it to be more of a toy and not built as well as pro DSLRs. Time will tell. Accelerated changes in functionality, size and button placement, take time to adapt to. Sure, once you’re used to it, it’s all great… until they change it again just so they can increase their profit margins. Transition from film to digital was more seamless to me and justified. The overall layout of cameras remained consistent with the addition of a screen. But this time the need to change is not obvious. DSLRs, in general, have not exhausted their potential, certainly not in image quality department. The only undeniable advantage of mirrorless is fast autofocus and eye tracking. The autofocus and EVF have brought pro cameras to the masses. Anyone with enough money can now buy R5 and 50mm 1.2 and produce stunning images. Camera will do it all for you. But the underlying knowledge and skills are lost or devalued. Lastly, Canon, what’s up with all the bulky and plasticky RF lenses, even the L glass? Sure, the image quality is great, but why are the lenses so fat and plasticky, especially for the huge amount of money they cost? What’s up with the noisy focus motors on the non-L “cheap” lenses making robot sounds from the 80s? Is any of this going to last like the EF glass? What’s up with heavy reliance on in-camera correction to mask huge flaws in optical design on non-L glass? Locking RF mount for other lens manufacturers is BS. Anyway, I’ll stop ranting here. Lol

Hello, thank you for the video. I currently own an EOS R6 Mark 2 and an EOS 5D Mark 2. Even if you pushed the dynamic range to the limit, there was almost no difference between the RAW and jpeg photos of these two cameras. If the issue is to take pure full frame photos, there is no need to update the camera. However, to keep up with today's trends, I purchased the R6 Mark 2 for its video features.

The R6 is technically superior but I find the older Canon DSLR's much more fun to use. If you already have an arsenal of EF lenses and don't plan on doing lots of video, I'd stick with the 5D. I wouldn't invest too much into R lenses as Canon has a way of dropping formats on a dime. Just ask those, who invested in EF-M equipment. There should be plenty of EF lenses, both Canon and third party for quite some time.

@tammanaq12 күн бұрын
@@SAUGATA It depends. If you only shoot 5.000 pics every year, then it will at least last you 10 years and only cost you 60 dollars per year. And in 2035 you want an other camera anyways. But if you are doing around 20 sessions a year then it will last you at least 4-5 years before hitting the 150k count. I think 600 dollars is a great price for a iv.

One of the big compromises I had to make creatively when I went from point and shoot to Canon 5D markii to iv, was the articulated screen. In the 90s I was lying on the ground or climbing things to get some shots. Digital came around and I used the fold out screen a lot. When I got serious with the 5D, I lost so much with creative angles. I tried to buy high end point and shoots to fill in the gaps, but even the $1000+ ones were too slow. I had to use the shitty resolution of my camcorder sometimes. I'm glad the mirrorless brings the articulated screen back.

A little of contradiction as to camera preference for wedding the 5Dm4 over the R6. Then, you go over and over how wonderful the R6 is the way of the future. Then, why you wouldn't consider the R6 as the primary body for Wedding? Furthermore, what about other areas like portrait. It would have make more sense if you can really compare both covering the wedding. Sharpness, low light performance, focusing, etc. Also, In my honest opinion, all old school photographer still focus and stay in photography, and not really care about videography, or how good the camera will do for video. I think that topic almost all have fail to mention, and point it out. Videography is a whole different subject for old school photographer, because is not just filming, directing, but also editing. Ask someone if they know how to use adobe premiere, adobe after effect?

If I was to go mirrorless from my Canon 5D mark iv, I’d go with Sony. Paired my 5D with a 24-105mm lens and took over 200 photos of fireworks within 20 minutes. Great video! At the moment I have a "luxury" problem ;) I have a canon eos r8 and an eos r7 with some rf lenses BUT I also have 3 f4 EF lenses that I really love. In order to use them I have to fix the RF to EF adapter and then I can use them. The only disadvantage ist, that the lens + the adapter is pretty long starts getting heavy. So I am wondering if if would make any sense to buy a used 6d mark ii or a 5d mark iv to easily mount this ef lenses - cause in my understanding the picture quality is nearly the same (and I don't shoot videos at all). Would be great to receive some kind of feedback, thanks and cheers!

There are a lot of horror stories out there on just about every mirrorless system but none as bad as R6 hot shoes loosening and falling off right around the time they go out of warranty. Huge refinements will come to mirrorless hopefully as the big players fight for market share. To win me over they would have to make something that doesn't feel like a cheap plastic Rebel.

A downside of RF cameras is that the firmware has been fudged to jinx third party lenses. I have several significant Sigma lenses, IQ is as good or better than some EF lenses, only my R5 makes a mess of focussing. With these I use a 5D4 [or 7D2] most of the time, the lenses do work with the adapter, only not all the images will be sharp. When I discovered this I ended up getting an EF100-400Lii as no way could I justify £2,700 for the 100-500.

Thats my priority but want the high shutter speed too, as you mentioned in the video the 5D is almost a thing of the past and it seems better to invest into the r6 but I'm just a little sceptical cos I don't wanna spend thousands and the landscape shots aren't great. I've watched loads of videos and have got the general consensus that the r6 is great and the way forward but lacks in landscape/ travel Is that true? Thanks again

The older DSLRs will carry on working just fine until they physically break. Yes you can get newer tech in the R series of course but that does not mean your old DSLRs (or even film SLRs) will not 'work' in the future. They will, just as long as the actual cameras work. The talk of older style DSLRs becoming obsolete confuses me a little, as they will still take fantastic shots just so long as they are in working order still. Considering you can still pick up older bodies that were made some 15 to 20 years ago that still shoot images, then DSLRs made within even the last 10 years should be fine for many, many years to come. It's all about what you expect your camera bodies to do, and what you are willing to do with them.

The video mode camera is something I don't want to pay for as I will never use a photo format camera to shoot video, that is why they make video cameras. They have better controls and are the right shape and size for video. Best suited to the job. I bought the R7. It beats both the mk4 and the R6 on performance. If you need the R7 to act as a full-frame camera choose a wider lens and crop in. I still use the 5D mk3 for astronomy with the DSLR Controller app, Controlled by the tablet, which does a remarkable job. I find this controller takes the mk3 to a new level, especially for landscapes and astronomy sky landscapes. I am looking at buying a good-condition used mk4 as an eventual backup to the mk3. Unfortunately, there isn't a DSLR Controller app for the R-series cameras and there might never be one. Canon's change of direction is going to be very costly for some. As there is an awful lot of good glass out there that will be made redundant.
