Just a tip to get rid of the audio noise on the Rode Video Mic Pro. You need to change the on mic switch to +20 db and then go into the manual audio settings in camera then turn the audio levels all the way down and then one notch up.

Another feature I really love in 7D rather than any other crop camera's that super helpful is Manual White Balance and the Levelers to make the records straights.These are so helpful.

I'm OCD with my audio, I use my rode mic and a completely separate audio recoding system unattached to the camera just in case haha ❤ in post , I see which is better and honestly this has saved my butt so many times.... especially when you're on location all day paying people haha!

Great video as usual. I have the 60D which has most of the features you mentioned on the 7D and I purchased the 18-105 L on your recommendation. I am very happy with my results but in order to adjust the sharpness, contrast and color I had to create a custom user setting under picture style. Otherwise, there is no way to change these options. Can you tell me what option I should set the "Auto Lighting Optimizer"? Thanks

I just bought a 7D and it seems Canon added everything this video says it doesn't have. The headphone jack is there now, and it now comes with a dual auto focus option. Love this Camera!

Great vid! I was wondering what would be required to run two monitors from the same camera. I have a Canon 7d and I am thinking about purchasing two Feelworld 7" monitors to use with it. I know I would use a splitter, but would I need a powered one? And do you have any brand recommendations?

You can refocus after you hit the start recording button by pushing and holding the af-on button each time a refocus is needed as a helpful tip. Otherwise great video!

So what exactly is aliasing and moire and is it a bad thing? You say to turn off the sharpness to prevent more of it but when showing the two images with sharpening on and sharpening off, the image with the sharpening on I think looks better. I'm currently using the 7D to shoot for a movie and I just want to make sure I'm getting the most out of this :)

please can you tell me or there are in between better options for "dual pixel. Or is this system still the best. I tried out a Sny 7s2 and 7r2. Both exellent camera 's but not with AF-C. Tried that out together with face-detexion, and without. Even with eye-detection. Nothing helps. And i am lookiong for a camera on my Ronin M, when i can 't fot-pull. Sharpens himself. Stay in a DOF, mostly goes wrong.

i have three dslr cams for video shooting … 5D III , 7D and 550D (T2i) but i recently replaced the 7D with a 70D . the body of the 7D is better but 70D is lighter, has flipped screen , video autofocusing and it's not so expensive

And here we go with another great video as always: you kinda know me Moritz, I'm a "nikon girl" but these tutorials are pretty good in any case...just because some of the things you mentioned here like "flat picture profile", external mic or lenses are pretty much the same. A little question: in your opinion now that 4K is becoming a reality, which camera is the best? I might say...I'm a little confused: Canon C500, Black magic, RED Scarlet or Sony F...*&$7##%! whatever :) there's a lot of "meat" on fire!

We actually had the choice of testing one of the Canon C line cameras: EOS C500, C300 or C100. We chose the C100 because it’s more in our price range and also more interesting for our viewers. We wouldn’t use a C500 on a daily basis so I don’t see a big reason to test it. The RED cameras are aimed at companies that do TV and cinema ads, shows or films and require a lot of accessories as well an intense post production. The Blackmagic 4K camera isn’t different compared to the other ones except that the low light performance is worse and the resolution is higher. The form factor of the BMCC 2.5K and 4K is far from ideal… I don’t think 4K is here yet. Just by looking at the available cameras for less than $3.000 you will notice that. The only ones available are the Panasonic GH4 and the FZ-1000 which is more aimed at families. Nikon has never really focused on video with their DSLRs. Their new D810 and D4s are good step ups but not a revolution in terms of filmmaking. Canon has a problem because they can’t kill their Cinema line by releasing something like a 1DC for a third of the price. I am sure the 7D Mark II will be much better than the current mid-range DSLRs but maybe it won’t record 4K as well. Sony has brought us some great HD cameras in the past 8 months but they also don’t focus that much on 4K. What I am trying to say here is that we just got cameras that deliver great HD footage and those DSLRs have been around for almost 6 years! I don’t think we need to wait 6 more years to have great 4K cameras but just because the GH4 seems to be tempting due to the price doesn’t mean it’s still going to be that good in one year. -Moritz

I must say that I agree with you: 4K is a reality just for big film/commercial productions but is way way far from customers so…spending all that money for RED/Sony/Canon cinema cameras may not be worth it. I can honestly see a “4K” future in Canon DSLRs and as you said, that may not be very far in time from us (like one year, max two). In any case, thank you so much again for your time :)
