David Regal has released an Any Card Prediction System called Canon. This clever deck of cards allows you to have a spectator freely pick any card in a deck of cards and the performer will immediately have access to a duplicate of that card to be able to reveal however the performer desires. This in my opinion is a brilliant system that works great for a newer magician or a working professional. I have put a lot of road testing on this deck and hope my review is helpful for you if you are considering the release.
If you are interested in this release it is released through Vanishing Inc Magic and any Murphy's Magic Retailer. It is broadly available.

appreciated the thorough review. i have to say though, you mentioned you showed the trick to people including in zoom sessions with the camera close-up and no one noticed. I have to say, I hear magticians say that all the time, and i GUARANTEE YOU, I could show this to a selected group of people here in my area, including KIDS (10-12 yrs old) who do not do magic, and I guarantee you SOME of the would notice. I don't know what it is, other magticians say this ALL THE TIIME, that audiences don't notice things, but audiences here in my area DO NOTICE. And I'm not regerring to MY skill, I can show them the trick being done by the exact same performers who tell me no one notices. I would also disagree with the assessment that those watching it will not be interested in looking at the cards or envelope. I have NO IDEA how you guys get away with such things, Lol. The people I show tricks to, they are DRIVEN to want to figure tricks out, and they WILL AbSOLUITELY AND MOST DEFINITELY ask to see BOTH.

Hello Scott, I really appreciate your comment because I too share a similar suspicion of when magicians say "and no one notices". I suspect that many times they are fooling themselves or not being honest with themselves. I asked for feedback after performing virtually and while no one said they understood how it worked, I often think people want to be polite and not hurt the performers feelings and therefore do not say what they think the method is. I was pretty conscious of that as I said it in the review and know that if I were on the other side of the camera I would be sharing the same suspicion. For me on this specific gimmicked envelope it is not something I use in real performances as I think ultimately it is for those interested in trying to solve the method will go with the most obvious method that the envelope must be gimmicked in some way, and given the way this envelope is gimmicked it does not allow any real way to negate that. In many ways I think the gimmicks (cards and envelope) for this release might be good for a new person in magic but for those who are experienced it is preferable to use the same plot but rather ditch the gimmicked cards, and use a different gimmicked envelope or method for pulling a card from an envelope. On a positive note I do like the way these cards are gaffed and the way it allows you to get to the chosen card with ease. Thanks so much for leaving the comment and the level of honesty and willingness to call out the concerns and your perspective. I genuinely appreciate it and I feel like it pushes me to be a better reviewer. Thank You.

Thanks so much John. I must admit that I love the Pachabel Canon on the violin. It really is a beautiful tune. I wish I had a quartet to perform this with. We are planning a relatively quiet Christmas at home, no plans to travel anywhere this year and jus plan to do some relaxing. I hope you have a great Christmas and thank you from the bottom of my heart for being a loyal viewer. I always look forward to seeing your comments. Cheers.

Hi Jonny, as i see from other comments that bit of fiddlin' was really appreciated. Beautiful piece of music. I listened to it several times. How about you playing your top 3 favourite pieces. A bit of Fiddlin' Magic to see the year out or New one in. Oh yeah ... And a great detailed review. I like the idea but i dont need another one trick pony. I've already got a stable of them. Merry Christmas Cheers Gary

Hey Gary, thanks for the comments on the fiddlin. I have been wanting to up my game on the fiddle for the reviews and have been thinking about adding backing tracks to play along with, but that just takes more time to figure out but I would like to make some improvements. I wish I had a band I could bring in weekly to play along with me but that is unrealistic. Anyway thanks so much for being a loyal viewer and leaving comments. I always appreciate it and value your voice. Take Care and have a great Christmas.

I will follow up by saying, I totally agree that an experienced performer can often work around many such issues by good audience management, so I'm not saying this trick is unusable, or that it cant be done without people demanding to see it, certainly good audience management would be ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED in order to get around these issues, but I'm just waying, there WILL AbSOLUTELY be people who want to see the deck and envelope, even if there are ways to get past or around that issue. I also know I would definitely spot what is happening if you did the trick for me in the way you showed other people. Obviously I'm a magician and I m not saying lay people would catch things to nearly the same extent as I would, but I often hear other performers say things will fool even magicians, and I have ALWAYS been able to tell what is happening if they actually do a demo video without cutting away at the crucial moments. I definitely picked up on what David was doing the first time I watched it. I don't know the exact way the card box was gimmicked, but I have some pretty good ideas. Overall, your tutorial was very helpful in answering some of what I strongly suspected and was enough to convince me this isn't for me.

Hi Scott, thanks for this addition. I do want to add in an effort to help. In this release the deck of cards are gaffed but the card box is not and the envelope is gaffed as it probably quite obvious. Again thanks so much for your comments.

Hi David, I actually thought of you as I was doing that intro because I know you will work on what the key is. I promise next time there will be no reveal of the key. I hope you are doing well and that the weather in your neck of the woods is tolerable. Take care my friend.

Thx for that. The trailer for the effect kinda gives away the method, no?
@fiddlinjonny
@fiddlinjonny 6 ай бұрын
Hi John, Yes I think so. I think for a newer magician they may not immediately recognize the method but for anyone with some experience will immediately be able to reverse engineer it. I do think that it is the deck that is the special part and the envelope is the low point of the release. I hope that helps some and thanks so much for being here.

I do like David Regal but I think the next thing I'll get from him is his Color Changing Knives. Thanks for the review and Merry Christmas!

Don't waste your money on colour changing knives. They are just ordinary pocket knives. It's just the paddle move. It is lame. Nothing new. Ignore his hyped up trailers!

@@fiddlinjonny I am on Regal's mailing list and have seen the knives up close as a friend got them. I will admit they are well made but not really worth what he was asking for them. Also it's just the paddle move and very over exposed. It's even in most beginner magic sets. The problem is that a lot of these effects are recycled every 10 years or so when a "creator" just repackages an old effect. Generally these effects are massively overhyped by rent a post crony magicians on the Magiccafe who rave and were "gobsmacked/floored" by an age old effect doing the rounds again. This is to ensnare a new generation of teenage magicians who don't know any better. It's a bit like Peter Nardi demonstrating to his son Harry at Alakazam. Harry is always "blown away" and astounded by very well known stuff. What I think we should be looking out for is really original stuff not continual rehashing or minor performance variations.

Hi. I have David Regal’s Color Changing Knives, and they are great. There’s a few features with these knives that other sets don’t have, and the Swish Army Knife gimmick is outstanding. As a matter of fact that’s the only knife I use in my routine. Yes, they are expensive, but there’re well worth it, and they do fool people. Thanks-Marty

Great review. I would never use that envelope. Way too big. Like producing a sponge ball from a suitcase
@fiddlinjonny
@fiddlinjonny 6 ай бұрын
Thanks Eric, your comment about the size of the envelope is good and something I didn't mention in the review. When I was jamming with another magician friend of mine he had substituted the provided envelope with an envelope you might get a birthday card in and closed it with a paper clip. I found this way more practical and easier to carry with me rather than the large envelope provided, also it could be handed out at the end and completely clean. Thanks so much for being here and leaving the comment.
