The problems he talks about with shooting video (the crop and the bad autofocus) are only pertaining to 4K video. Shooting in 1080p makes use of the really good Dual Pixel Autofocus, also 1080p is not cropped in like 4K is. I'd say that the best features of this camera are the fact that it is a really solid really small mirroless camera with interchangeable lenses. This setup is great for street and travel photography. The kit zoom lense that comes with the camera is absolutely fine, but getting a fixed lense will make an incredible difference, making this a fantastic little camera. For more serious video work, get a more expensive camera. For a fun, very usable, beginner friendly camera that you will take everywhere with you and learn to shoot with it - absolutely get this one.

Agreed - I upgraded to the Sony A6400 and it was a huge improvement on the video front! And getting a good lens is paramount; it really does change the whole experience of the camera body.

I just bought one for $299 on clearance. I’m a semi pro Nikon (D800 and F5) shooter, not looking for video, just a decent backup camera, one to carry when I fly (pilot), or to hand to a 16 year old cadet to take decent photos. So far I like it.

Yeah, the right lens can do wonders for photography. I got this though for portability as a bring anywhere camera. I have had the Eos RP and Fuji X-S10. Gonna get a 22mm f2 pancake for this. I'm not a videograper and just a hobbyist. Oh, i a like new 2nd hand M200 for just $250 Canadian, so win win😅

Canon R50 auto focus is perfect in fact its light, small and extremely easy to use. Relatively cheap also.

Thanks for the insight! The R50 is definitely good value for the money, but with kit lens it's about $200-300 more expensive than the M200 - definitely one to consider though depending on your budget.

Well that lets me know I am making the right choice. I decided this morning to purchase the Sony ZV-E10. I was debating between a small handful of cameras such as the Canon M200, M50 mark II, and the M6 or the Sony a6300 or ZV-E10. They are all good cameras it just comes down to price point & features for me. Thanks for the video

I’d say the M200 is a better camera body, but you’d still need to get yourself a nice lens to ensure decent photos. The kit lens it includes is only decent in terms of the quality it outputs.

I bought this camera as a beginner camera for photography. Some say whats the best camera for photography. Yes not a pro camera with apsc. Im looking into a fuji as my next camera for photography on apsc. However i have learned how to use what i have. Got a tripod and shoot low iso with slow shutter speed. Or shoot prime lens on a speed booster and compromise on raising the iso max 1400 iso till it starts looking bad. Also noise in photo can be artistic. Definitely not ment for night photography sports but very nice for night landscape photography. Things i wish it had are in camera body stabilizer. A view finder. A full frame sensor lol. And cheaper frames.

Using prime EF lenses, such as a 50mm f1.8, and a Speedbooster (0.71 magnification) adapter; I find that this camera does very well in low light situations.

Does it overheat while making 4k video?

It shouldn’t, but that’s also because at 4K capture it’s limited to 10 minutes of recording per clip. Shooting at 1080p you can record up to 30 minutes of video per clip, and at normal operating temperatures it shouldn’t overheat doing that either. If you’re shooting outdoors then your mileage will vary, this camera doesn’t have a fan to cool it so if it’s warm outside and you’re pushing it with video it will probably overheat before too long.

While it is very good value for money, if your budget is a bit higher I’d go for the Sony. More availability for lens and it would be more reliable for longer recording jobs.

it is a camera, not a computer. An Iphone takes a lot af images, stich them, recombine, invent some things and then the photo is done. The camera is doing what you configure. A Tesla or a v8 😂

I haven’t used the A6000, but I’ve owned the 6400 and 6700 and both were definitely a step up from this model!
