Having come from the US to Portugal, where I now permanently reside, I was searching for a reliable used gear company. I have heard of MPB but have no idea if they were trustworthy or not. Well, having seen your videos for a while now, I feel I can trust your judgement. I actually shoot with the M50 II and am looking for a 11-22 and the 22mm f2, to go with my 18-150. Now I feel a lot better in doing business with this company. Cheers.

He Luis - I am pleased to hear that. I have been dealing with MPB for a while now and can only report good things. I have always been impressed with the condition of the gear that I have had from them and there are big savings to be had compared with buying new. I hope your experience is as good as mine. Not sure if they have a centre in Portugal, I think the European branch of the company is run from Berlin, Germany.

Interesting view Chris. I started using my M50 (which I bought for video) as my main stills camera as the weight of my full frame "pro" body and lenses was causing problems with an old back injury. That was supposed to be a temporary solution and 15 months later I'm still using it because it is such a good setup and, as you said, much underrated. I have the native lenses (11-22, 15-45 and 55-200) and these are excellent and have the advantage of being small and light like the camera itself. The weakest of the lenses is the 15-45 in my opinion and even that isn't bad. I also have a nifty 7.5mm fisheye that is great for some creative stuff. Thanks for sharing your thoughts
@ChrisSalePhoto2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Ralph - I have sold prints taken with the 15-45 but it can be a bit hit and miss - I have found it very prone to chromatic aberations in certain light. I have said it before... if Canon did L series lenses for the EF-M mount I would switch immediately!

Sorry for the late reply. The efs 18-135 (newer version) is my favorite walk-around travel lens because the focal range is so practical. A newer purchase is the 55-250 STM (newer model) and it's pretty sharp. Bought it based on great reviews on several sites.

@alexandermenzies99542 жыл бұрын
How does it have a 900mm "reach", d? Does the sensor plate detect the 600mm lens and then tell it to somehow increase its magnification? Or did you mean the angle of view, not its magnification, is equivalent to a 900mm lens?
@KevinNordstrom2 жыл бұрын
@@alexandermenzies9954 because the m50 is not a fullframe camera that replicates the size of traditional 35mm, where as a crop sesnor camera like the m50 has a smaller sensor and crops the edges of the photo to produce a tighter image automatically puts the 150-600, to a 240-960mm lens

@@KevinNordstrom Mmm, I'll have to think about that..:-).
@KevinNordstrom2 жыл бұрын
@@alexandermenzies9954 has it's pros and cons. Pro being lighter. More portable. More reach. Cons being typically worse in low light conditions. @ChrisSalePhoto2 жыл бұрын
That extra reach is why my 'back-up' for the FF DSLR is a cropped mirrorless camera. Turns my 70-200 into a 112-320 with no impact on image quality from what I can tell. That extra 120mm makes all the difference and means I don't have to blow a bundle on a 100-400mm.

Hello. It's been many years since the 80D/77D came out, but I'm asking myself the same question. Now I have a Canon 600D, and I no longer lack its capabilities (of course 😅). I choose between 77D and M50. My main task is to shoot photos (I want to shoot commercials: portraits, custom family scenes, and some street photography). The video is most likely secondary (although I don’t know for sure). There is no money for a full frame yet. What do you recommend from these two devices? The bad ergonomics of the M50 and the lack of control buttons, as it is on the 77D, scares me (How do I quickly change the settings in manual mode when my hands are gloved in winter?). However, they tell me from everywhere: "2023, buy a mirrorless camera (they mean M50)"

I upgraded to the m50 mkii from a 2000d for photography for precisely this reason. It’s compatible with all my old lenses. The ef-s 55-250mm st, is my favorite lens to adapt. I have absolutely no desire to get a native telephoto anytime soon as a result. Pair it with the ef-m 15-45mm kit lens and a ef-m 23mm f1.4 viltrox prime and I have pretty much every basis covered. Wide, telephoto, and low light. All fits neatly in my 6L peak design sling. The ef-s 18-135mm (the non stm version) is a great lens, but it’s a big boi. Haven’t tried adapting it yet partly since I messed up the auto focus when removing a lose screw that was dangling about in it and haven’t had time to fix the AF yet. I mostly haven’t tried because of its size. Don’t think I’d use that lens on the m50 with the existence of the much smaller ef-m 18-150mm. Still love that lens on my 2000d though for an allrounder lens. When ever I let my friends borrow my cameras they always gravitate to its versatility over the primes in my collection.

For me it comes down to the price - the EF-S 10-18 is more than £100 cheaper then the EF-M 11-22 at the moment on MPB. And it is only 20g heavier - even with the adapter, I doubt I'd notice the difference. Another thing that I have found is the because I have big hands, the M50 can be fiddly to hold with an EF-M lens attached. Adding something like the EF-S 18-135 (which is actually pretty heavy, granted) makes it easier for me to handle.
