@markwiemels3 жыл бұрын
@@caelandelgiudice2661 I think it’s the most interesting of the focal length coverage. The really wide, and really telephoto, are shots that most phones can’t get. So working in those focal ranges is a point of difference. If I could only have two lenses, that setup would be in very strong contention. You can pick up the 15-45 or 18-55 on eBay for under $100.

As another M6 MkII user, I really appreciate all your excellent and practical videos. Based on this video, I picked up the Rokinon 12mm f2 and a vintage Helios (with speed booster) and they're both wonderful. I'll just add one other for your consideration -- I recently got the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 35mm f/0.95 for M-mount for $300 and just love it. A manual lens but sharp in the centre wide open and by pushing down that f-stop really achieves the equivalent look of 56mm f1.4 on full frame with buttery smooth background bokeh -- a perspective which up until now has been elusive and not achieved by my Canon 32mm f1.4. Despite that our M system is likely going the way of the dodo, I now feel no pressure to upgrade for a full-frame look and have the sweet spot for quality on a budget. Thanks again for your work.

I bought me a M50 mark II with the 180-150mm zoom as the kit lens. This is such a useful range. I didn't go for the 15-45 and 55-200 kit because from my older days working with prime lenses I know that one always has the wrong lens on the body. Whatever I had on the camera was either just too short or just too long. The 18-150 doesn't give me such problems. I also bought the 11-22mm because I got it at an excellent price, new at 2/3 of the price. I am very happy with everything. It is an amazing camera. Hi! I'm writing from Italy. I have bought a used Canon M5 to replece my Canon 7D mark I. I usually used a Tamron 16-300: not a vary sharp lens (same quality of a kit lens but with a very impressive focal range). Now I have discovered that Tamron 16-300 is not compatible with Canon M-series (and my flash Yongnuo YN568EX II too!!). I have also other lenses: EF 50 f1.8 STM, EF-S 24 f2.8 pancake, Canon 18-135 STM and the EF-M 15-45. I have two choises: 1) I could try to sell the Tamron and the Canon 18-135, then buy a sigma 17-50 f2.8 + a Canon 55-250 STM. I hope this set up improve the sharpness/quality of my picture and cover all the focal range. 2) Buy only a EF-M 32mm f1.4. I'm not interested in video. Surely I'm not a professional photographer, but neither a begginer! I shot in every situation: my family want me to shot at weddings and baptisms, but I love portraits and streetphotografy, landscape and nature. Can you halp me?

I often use my M50 on my 35-350mm EF L, 100-400mm EF L and 200mm f2.8 L to great effect with no loss in performance or speed. I own and have experimented with Fuji (selling that system) and Olympus / Panasonic M43 systems, and only the M43 system is the one I would pick if the M system wasn't in existence already.

Mark, Thanks for the run through on the 16 lenses reviewed in this video and he ideas where each best fits a particular use. Some of these I will be taking a look at as all of the lenses that I have for my M50 are stock Cannon EF-M lenses. I guess my only version 2 video request would be that the lenses be split talking about those with the native camera mount, then those requiring an adapter and may be a plug for a good adapter. I say this because I had to scrub back and for the to determine whether an adapter was being used or not. The other question I have is whether there are are additional lenses that could be considered as part of the toolbox if using a speed booster as opposed to an adapter, i.e., the Viltrox Speed Booster for the EOS M50.

I have a cannon M50 and want to know if the 15-45 kit lens is good enough for interior photography like furniture or do I need another lens for it, if yes then which one would it be? To get an idea, the photos will be of interior furniture, sofas, dining tables etc. Want to make photos look professional like they could be on an architecture or interior design magazine.

Yes, it will work fine for that.

I have been looking for an in depth video like his for a long time, I'm in the market to buy another lens for my Canon M50. I only have the kit lens right now. I'm doing car photography but want more options for focal length. The 18-55 is looking very enticing and I've gotten more information out of the first 10 minutes of this video than I have watching like 20 other videos! Thanks so much!

Hey, I’m trying to decide which second lens to buy between the Sigma 56 and the Canon 32, both seem to be similar in price and both seem to fit my needs like close up shots and candid photos of my wife and kids. Which one would you go with as a second lens to put with the kit lens for the m50?
@markwiemels3 жыл бұрын
You want the 32mm for sure, it’s a more versatile focal length for those purposes. It’s also one of the highest quality lenses I have ever used on any camera system.

Great content… I’m fairly new to photography, and currently only have Canon M50 with an 18-150 lens, and looking for something to compliment that lens, for day to day use, photos of family, maybe some street photography.. I like the small 22mm lens. However I do like have a bit of zoom on a lens so I can adjust the frame, but maybe I should just use the 18-150 for those situations.. Would anyone have recommendations on a solid general use lens?

I am new to the photography and video and I wish I knew a person as yourself to mentor me in my journey of video and photography. Hmmm that's actually a good thought! I wonder if anyone has put something on KZbin like that? Mentoring a newbie via split zoom on KZbin... Hmmmm, What's your take on that?

Thank you for sharing your collection of lenses Mark, that was superb and informative. I don't quite have the number of lenses available to my M50 as you but I'm getting there. Instead of the Canon 32mm F1.4, for cost I chose the Sigma 30mm f1.4 as it was about 60% the price of the Canon. I also bought the Sigma 56mm f1.4 for portraits. I also own an SL3/250D so with an adapter I can use the EF/EF-S lenses that I have for my SL3 like the 10-18mm f4.5-5.6, EF-S 24mm f2.8 & Sigma 17-55mm OS f2.8 at a push.

Yah that sigma 56 looks really good. Yes, you need an adapter for the Sigma 18-35mm. The M6 II is practically a cinema camera with that lens in it, the images are stunning.

Do a video on the manual lenses and how you shoot with them, like the Rokinon 12mm f2, on the street, landscape, portrait, and astro. Would be a good video, that could be useful with manual mode on autofocus lenses as well.

Thanks for the video, Mark. Love my Sigma 16mm and just picked up a Sirui 35mm 1.33 anamorphic for video. The Sirui has a modular mount system, allowing it to be adapted by consumers for Sony E and MFT. Do you know if my Canon-brand EF-Ms can be used in any interchangeable-mount cinema cam? Heard something about Z Cam having good mount compatibility, but EF-M seems locked down by Canon. Guessing MFT is probably my best upgrade path.

The Lowa 9mm is an amazing lens, the only copy I have had in my hands was a bad/non-sharp copy, which has put me off trying it again. I hope to own a sharp copy of that lens some day, the FOV is amazing. I almost brought an 18-150 the other day, it could be the best do it all lens for the mount, buy all reports its' an excellent lens. I have the Taukumar 135mm and really like it, will keep an eye out for the 55.
