I'm the same way when it comes to tech stuff but when I got my EOS R I fell in love with how it captured video and photos. I realized it's more about the look you're personally going for more than the latest and greatest technology. I still love watching tech reviews but think I'll be sticking to my EOS R with my RF 35mm combo for some time.

EOS R is a great camera. By the way I was planning to sell it but still keeping it for some photography :) Canon makes me study light more since their cameras are not perfect. I pushes me to only shoot in good light.

Very true words! All the technical stuff can kill our creativity so fast. As someone who is doing this video/youtube thing solely as a hobby, I decided to put out a video each week since November, no matter the circumstances. Sometimes the kids were sick, we had little time, I was in a bad mood, I didn't feel super inspired, etc., I just kept on pushing and learning with each week and having a simple goal in mind definately helped to go through those crazy times. I won't keep up this pace forever, but sometimes it is so important to just create and not think about technical stuff.

I totally relate to and get what you are saying. I spent 6+ months glued to camera reviews, watching was what new, and trying to figure out what I needed. Do I stick with Canon or not? Do I go with a 20MP, 30MP or 45MP sensor? I was driving myself crazy. I had to let it go. Eventually the most important decision maker work up inside me... my gut, my intuition, my true self, and the core of my creativity. This led me to the Canon R6. I needed the AF for bird photography and the rest for street, macro, nature and landscapes with the option of video if I chose to go that route. I realized it comes down what works best for me with my creativity. As you mentioned, it is the fun and focus on life and the moment that is most important. If the EOS R was faster with the AF, I would have bought it. Thank you for sharing your experiences, strengths and hopes.

@@MikeyCruise Fuji has a lot more color information. If I need to push a difficult grade it is technically much better than Canon. Also F-Log is more flat than C-Log. But for general use if the light is good I prefer editing Canon colors since they are already pretty close to my end result. I do less adjustments for Canon.

Great video! I’ve been using the EOS R for all my channels videos for over a year now and I just can’t seem to get a picture quality I’m pleased with. I’m shooting in the Neutral picture setting, in HD All-I with a Sigma 18-35, in 24 FPS mostly, except my slow mo of course. But it’s just not as good as I see others getting.

First of all, this was the best footage I've seen with this lens. The location and footage were absolutely beautiful. Near the end of the video, the close-up of her one eye 👁️ was unusual but over all the video and music were excellent. Did you shoot in C-log 2? What ND filter did you use? Can you send me a link?

Hey Thanks James! It was shot on EOS R in clog. I believe R does not have clog2 or clog3 available. Not sure if they added with a firmware update recently though. I did not use an ND filter

Thank u! Haven't tried with Atomos yet. I have a couple LUTs I created before. I use it as a base layer but usually do manual edits on top of that.

Thanks! I didn’t use any filters. Also no post work for highlights. It was probably the combination of good light and slight mist in the air.

Did you use an ND filter with the lens? I'm going to Alaska at the end of summer and would love to create a short film very much in the style of this video. I loved it! The color grading was beautiful and the music choice was excellent! I planned on bringing the 24-105 f4, the 35mm 1.8, and an ef 70-300 usm II. I didn't know if it would be worth getting a separate ND filter for the 35mm or not, or even if I should get a microphone.

Hey, Thank u! For this video I didn't use any type of ND. You can get a step up ring for your 35mm and share the ND with 24-105 and 70-300mm.

As far as I remember this was shot in 4K. With 1.6x 4K crop it is around 56mm
