I have 3 R5C’s and the ONE thing I cannot stand is the autofocus. When going back and forth between the R5, you can really see the difference. Also, IBIS… please Canon.

The EOS R1 will be released in the first half of 2024, and you only need one question mark ;) The EOS R3 has already dropped in price, going on sale as much as $500 off. More discounts are likely.

The R1 is a completely different camera for a different segment. Its release will not affect R3 pricing. The only major pricing reduction for the R3 will happen when/if an R3 MKII comes out or is announced.

To some, but IBIS is not a common feature in cinema cameras. Its only us coming from photography cameras that miss it ;)

I know right? The EOS R5 II and EOS R5c II should come out at the same time. I'll get the R5 II when it comes to, but likely won't get the R5C II as it may not be enough to justify the difference.

I feel like they’re better leaving it alone as a one off. The R5c solved issues for the R5 overheating and then after the recent fixes with firmware the R5 became more compelling. I’d rather they go all in on a C50 model, a “FF C70” because I feel like the only things missing from the R5c Is IBIS AND BUILT IN ND filters. Imagine file sizes from a 60mp cinema camera, no thanks!

We had a lot of rumours on cinema cameras, but very little has come to pass. The R5c also offers a lot of good codecs.

I would have bought an R5C and sold my R5 with the exception of NO IBIS in the R5C, having two separate systems to deal with (i.e., photo and video operating environments). If the R5C Mark 2 has IBIS; then I will get one and sell my R5.

IBIS on the R5 is very nice, but it is common for cinema cameras to not have it. I'm curious if they decide to add it. While I use a gimbal, I don't like to travel with it and that is where the R5 shines, but all those video capabilities including onscreen waveforms and better codecs... that's tough to pass up on.

If they could pack in a built in ND’s, full size HDMI, and better power solution, the R5C mk ii will just Rip!! Some want to see mini XLR and C-LOG 2. I had heard they’re also working on C-Log 4, no idea which body it’ll debut on.

Can built in NDs even happen in that form factor of camera? You need enough space in the body to shift those filters in and out of the way… doesn’t seem possible in a SLR type form factor.

How credible are the rumors for the R5II releasing in about 8-10 month from now? .... because I'm sooo damn close to hit the order button on the R5 for 3150 € 🤔, which seems a good price to be honest. Tough decision, wait or not wait?

That price is probably an import model = No Canon USA warranty.

@@Lil-JensStudio It's actually an European model with 2 years EU warranty and since I am from Europe, this should be fine. In the end, when the R5II comes out and it is worth switching, I'm going to sell this body again and hope not to make a too big loss.

Canon Rumors is usually pretty good on the things. I'm not ruling out some sort of announcement later this year with shipping in Q1. No one knows for sure yet.
