Many of the features seem pretty decent on paper but the need to run an external power source for 8k60p and the 1/1 memory card slots, no external ssd options, no ibis, clunky form factor with the cooling fan seemingly slapped on the back... I don't know why but in a sense this camera seems rushed. You can't easily operate this camera at full capacity on the go without the need for an external power source and either a gimbal or tripod. In typical Canon-style: "Much ado about nothing." Big deal here seems to be that there is a MODE SWITCH, you can go from photo to video ad back. So, you can now either shoot photos or video -- but not both without switching between them. Hmmm..... That would be worth how much extra over the regular R5? And seriously -- a whopping 45 MP sensor -- for shooting video? Heck, even 8K only requires 33 MP. For interfaces -- 3.5 mm audio jacks, micro-HDMI for video. Sort of smart phone types. SD card slot -- seriously, Canon? In a "cinema camera?" Maybe you guys should look around what your competition is delivering. On the plus side, the recording codecs are nice. Ugh. No IBIS. WHY does this matter if it's a "Cinema" camera? Here's why: most working videographers are not shooting movies. We're making content for clients. A lot of that content has to be made FAST by a modest crew. Not all clients have budget for $20k/day crew and rigs. Enter "run and gun" b-roll shooting for corporate, weddings, documentary, etc. Lots of times when IBIS is the difference between getting the shot (or gig) or not. This camera has a place in the universe, but not having IBIS leaves a huge hole of places it could have gone… but now cannot. Bummed.

In reality, it's a little too heavy for me to use for long periods handheld and a little too clunky to easily/reliably balance on my RS2. The autofocus underperforms as well. Other than that, it's a fantastic camera. The R5C solves the C70's size problem at the expense of the ND filters and XLR ports. I despise the micro, yes MICRO!!!, HDMI (which should be illegal), but being able to get excellent video and photos in one camera is more important since this would be my B camera and the C70 my A camera. Does anyone know if there is a hot shoe wireless lav receiver that would work with this? That's what I use with my Sony A7R3 and it's nice and compact. I also wonder about the dynamic range on the video end, if it improved at all. I'm assuming not since it's probably the identical sensor. All the camera companies keep inching toward the perfect hybrid camera. Nobody's nailed it yet, but I'll keep hoping!

"Perfect hybrid cameras?" Well, other than the smart phones, I sort of doubt there is anything like that. As for this new EOS R5C -- it has one great feature, the codec. For the rest -- not so much. There is no way on Earth I would be spending USD $4,500 for this body. Check out the latest FF offerings from Panasonic, Nikon, Sony. Dual CFexpress card slots, for starters. In other words -- professional media.

@@frankfarago2825 Yeah, I hear you. If I wasn't so invested in Canon glass, I'd probably get an A7S3. The Canon lenses I've used on my A7R3 are almost unusable as far as autofocus, so I'm not optimistic they'd work much better on the S3 or other cameras that aren't Canon.

That music just doesn’t fit. It bout put me to sleep. Couldn’t finish it at all but thumbed up because of the presentation. Music sounds like motivation music for weight loss.
