Canon has a knack of "almost" making amazing cameras and then they make this, with a crap HDMI port. I'm still on my 6dii and no intention yet to move to mirrorless. If they can come up with an RP 2 budget mirrorless, with full 4k and an LP6 (get rid of that dreaded Lp E17) and no record limits, I'd wait for that. And the amount of people complaining of lockups/freezes on their R5, R6 and now unbelievable the new R3's, this is a worrying trend. We'll see what happens with the R5c and any teething peoblems. Its a great camera, but I could never afford one. But for those that can, enjoy.

Excellent video as always! I have an EOSR and have been waiting for 3 years to upgrade to a better mirrorless. The heating issues of the R5 (and the fact that the production company I work for has one) made me pause on buying one but this looks INCREDIBLE for us hybrid. I get the issue with no IBIS for stills, however, my EOSR and NONE of the DSLR cameras I have shot stills with has EVER had IBIS so that is not a deal killer for me. The R5 had the side edge wobble issue with wide RF lenses that made many users HATE the fact that you couldn't turn IBIS OFF...so no IBIS in a cinema camera is no problem. That's what the Ronin RS2 is for, right? I cannot wait to get my hands on one of these and for all practical purposes have a C70 and R5 in one!

I'd be very interested about the DR and hoping the put CLOG2 in it soon. I would jump ship from my metabones adapted GH5s' to get incredible autofocus in full frame. I find I'm using my NDs way less than I used to for outside work, because I don't care to have much depth of field when doing b-roll, whether I'm on a gimbal or handholding. It makes focusing easier and seeing everything in focus is pleasing to the eye. In additon, the Tascam XLR adapter is what I've been waiting for. Huge for my corporate work. There was a time when I wanted IBIS in all these cameras, but now, I just want a camera without rolling shutter, and one that can be properly weighed down for smooth handheld work. IBIS MATTERS big-time when shooting stills, unless you’re shooting on a tripod in a well lit space (and if that’s your shooting space and don’t need IBIS that’s fine, you’d probably be better off buying a 90D or Eos R or RP, and buying a separate cinema cam like the C70 for video work).
@Marlow9252 жыл бұрын
@@CrisisActionTeam So you didn't watch that review then, I gather. IBIS has not been around in the Canon space until the R5 and R6 were launched. And we got along just find with IS in the lenses. The R5c additionally has Digital IS, which complements the IS in the lens now. For stills, that's more than sufficient. Additionally, the R5c is a video centric camera and floating sensors are seen as a liability in the movie industry. If you're so hooked on having IBIS, then the R5 is what you need.

As a side note: it really shows how well Canon does UI/UX here - so many buttons, and amazing menus in both photo and video modes! I'm still a bit sad that they haven't come up with this sooner. So many Canon DSLR users upgraded to the R5, because they like the brand, Canon's colors and image quality fully aware of the fact that they will have to deal with the known overheating issues. Thanks Canon for giving such a great option for cinematographers! One thing that I wanted to know is if the battery life with the LP-E6NH is different when using it in photo mode. Does the video mode and the photo mode calculates the same amount of battery life. This question might seem to be a stupid question, but since both modes are completely separate in the same body, and the fact that we can control the fan, does it gives the same battery information and capacity?? Is the battery life capacity in photo mode only is the same as the R5?? Or it is the same in video mode even if we use it only in photo mode?? I know the camera is more video-centric and has 8K RAW modes, but logically taking JPEG and RAW stills is not as demanding as taking these big video files with the LP-E6NH. Maybe I am wrong with that statement but wanted to have some clarification about that.

that HDMI port is going to break, no matter how hard you try not to break it
@ProAVTV2 жыл бұрын
Yes, the Micro HDMI port is one of my only real disappointments on this camera. I do feel like they could have managed to fit a full size one on there if they wanted to. Apart from that its pretty impressive! Carl

Not sure it’s for me. After using cameras like the bmpcc6k pro, filming on mirrorless is hard. But I may buy a canon r5. My eos r is chugging as my photo business picks up

Hey Carl, Newsshooter mentioned that in video mode there is only DPAF I not DPAF II. Is that true? That would be kind of a downgrade in terms of AF? Great video btw. Probably one of the best channel on KZbin! Greetings Furkan
@ProAVTV2 жыл бұрын
I don’t think that’s quite right. Canon have 2 AF systems, a stills one for the R5 etc. and a cinema one for the C70. This has the stills one in stills mode and video one in video mode. Thanks! Glad you liked the video Carl

Hi Carl. Ah ha! I'm interested. Saw a hint about it a few days ago but did not really believe it. I need to think about placing a deposit. Now, what questions to ask? Well, does the BG-R10 battery grip fit and if so does it extend recording times? Or is a new style of grip required? The only other thing I would really like to see for it would be a Sony style variable ND driven off the extra RF contacts. Any info about drop in variable ND filters - one that went down to zero ND for example? I understand why IBIS has had to be taken out, some 'shake' handling tests would be much appreciated by me but this is so much easier to mount on smaller gimbals, if only they took out vertical shaking........
@ProAVTV2 жыл бұрын
Yes, BG-R10 works perfectly. Agreed, a electronic variable ND inside a mount would be fantastic. No ND option like that goes clear without swinging out of the way though. And theres no space for that in a mount. Carl

@@RockyMaiviaMiami Yes, like I said in the conclusion of this video. I think there is still a market of hybrid users that need the instant switching of the R5 / S1H / A1 etc. I have asked Canon if they can put in even simple video recording as an option in the stills side. Maybe the regular line skipped 4K of the R5, something like that. Carl

amazing video as always carl i always come to you for more info i do have one question with the 8k60 what are some other battery source we can buy thats smaller and will fit on a tripod that will allow the 8k60
@ProAVTV2 жыл бұрын
So you will actually get 8K 60 on an LPE6 battery, but it will limit some other features like som lens functionality and use of the tascam unit etc. due to power draw. I got Iris control and AF with an EF lens though. But for other battery options, there are PD powerbanks like the one Anker make, theres the coreSWX powerbase edge and Anton Bauer Titon Base that I mention towards the end of this video, or a Vlock system of some kind. Carl
