Bought one brand new in 1996 because Andre Agassi was the face of Rebel G TV ads and he was my favorite at that time. I payed about $500 with kit lens and canon flash. Got thousands of amazing pictures of my kids with it and I still have it in mint condition. Lens and flash I use with my Canon 5D ll.

The 500N! My very first SLR! I still have it, and I am looking forward to part 2 of this trip down memory lane. 😊

Nice! These were great first camera.

@@DavidHancock They sure were. And that reminds me, instead of always going for the F1, Pentax Spotmatic or K1000 when I shoot film, I'd better try the 500N in manual mode with some better-than-kit-lens EF glass attached to it. Thanks again for your videos. Lately I really enjoyed your review of the Pentax D-FA* 50mm 1.4.

Got this for free from the local camera store a few hours ago!! Excited to start my film journey. I'll still keep shooting with my a7iv but something about the vintage soft looks from film makes me wanna keep this for personal uses and my mirrorless for professional works

Nice! I, too, am a huge fan of the A7 IV.

I have this one too but it has quartz clock at the backdoor
@DavidHancock6 ай бұрын
You can ignore that. Those no longer have accurate year printouts.

how do I upload the photos to my laptop
@DavidHancock5 ай бұрын
You'll need to send the film to a lab for developing and after they develop it they'll scan the photos for you and then you can get the digital files on your laptop.

Hi David, I just recently found my dad’s old camera of the same model. It has the same lens attachment, but the AF/MF switch is missing. Is the lens still usable or should I buy a replacement?
@DavidHancock Жыл бұрын
The lens should still work, but if it's going to work in manual or auto focus is likely dependent on what it was set to last. If you find it's not working, the 50mm f/1.8 is a great alternative.

hi! same thing with my camera. it’s set to MF but I don’t think anything is going in focus. I watched your second video through and the dot is not showing up in the view finder and i have the autofocus set to all 3 squares. what am i doing wrong?
@DavidHancock Жыл бұрын
@@cameronkrueger2510 in MF, the dot won't illuminate. I think that's only for AF, IIRC.

So I just bought a used Rebel G, and I want to test it out. I put in film, which it loaded just fine. The LCD is working fine. I put an EF 50mm lens on it. When I press the shutter button to take a picture, nothing happens. The autofocus also is not working. Is this something wrong with the camera itself? Or have I made a mistake using it? Any help would be appreciated!
@DavidHancock Жыл бұрын
Hmm. There are a few possibilities. If you're trying the camera out indoors, try it outside and see what happens. It may not let you take a photo if there isn't enough light for a proper exposure. Also, check that the lens is set to AF. There's a switch on the lens to control that.

Do it have automatic flash? I recently have the canon 2000 and the flash pops up when it sense low light so does this camera do the same?
@DavidHancock11 ай бұрын
IIRC yes. If it has a flash pop-up button, then generally Canon included automatic flash.

@@DavidHancock thanks! Thinking of getting the Rebel g film camera
@DavidHancock11 ай бұрын
@@KywaunJackson they honestly won't get you anything the 2000 doesn't. The 2000 replaced this so it's basically an upgraded G.
@davidfurfaro12862 жыл бұрын
Hi David, how does the camera turn-off? Is it automatic?
@DavidHancock2 жыл бұрын
Video 2 should cover that and all the other functions on the mode dial in detail. In short, the "L" setting on the mode dial locks the camera's functions.

I got this for 5$ today, with it's OG lens, definitely NOT mint condition, but 5$! it's a nice desk set-piece at worst!
