I just picked one of these up for $10! It didn't have a charger or any cables with it so it was a guess if it worked or not but I picked up a universal camera charger from Walmart and after throwing the battery on for a bit the camera seems to be in great working order! I'm super excited to learn to use it as I've wanted to get into photography for quite some time. This video was exceptionally informal and I look forward to watching your others to keep learning more. Thanks for all of the information!

No. It is still okay for photos, but it's only 720p, has no flip screen, no continuous autofocus and no mic input. Your phone is way better than this camera.

Basically, you either take out the SD card and plug it into the computer's SD card slot, or into an SD card reader and select the photos like you would from a USB. Or you can use the camera's cable (I show where to plug it in in the video), and do the same. It will pop up on your computer files once you plug it into the computer, as long as the cameras is on.

I'm not sure what a Canon EO5 is, but the Nikon p900 films in 1080p and seems more well-rounded than the Canon T3, that only films in 720p.

@@YoungStephanieG If you can bump up your budget a bit, you'll thank yourself in the long run, because the camera mount part (plate/handle/etc) is mostly plastic on the cheaper ones, and tends to break easily. If you can afford it (or even save up more) I would get the Canon M50 instead as a starter camera. It's mirrorless, way better for video, has a flippy screen, mic input and better autofocus.

If you are just getting into photography, then it's budget friendly option to learn with. But if you plan on doing lots of video as well, then I'd stay away as it only shoots in 720p.

Love this video! Where can I find remote for my canon T3? I bought one yrs. ago and the uassured me it would work. NOT!! Sent it back to them and they said it worked fine one their camera but it wasn't a T3!!! Told me they didn't make one that would work. Is this true? Thanks for the great vid .I'll be watching more! I need some help. I have a Cannon Rebel t3, it is saying "no SD card" (as if it isn't reading) but I can insert it into my laptop & it will read. could my card be damaged? I've saw somewhere that that could be my issue.

May have to reformat card which means you either lose your files or back them up. Easier solution is just buy another card or two and try them. I suspect my computer has done something to my cards which makes the camera unable to read them. I have 5 SD cards. 2 work in the camera and 3 don't! There are other possible fixes but I think what I described will work.

Hello, I am trying to figure out if they make remotes to control zoom in and out for the t3 I do a lot of videography for wildlife and can’t move a bunch to adjust zoom. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

I have a question. When I try to take a picture with the *Live View Mode,* it doesn’t record the picture. It won’t even let me focus the lens when I half press the shutter button. Is it not possible to take pictures when using the *Live View Mode?* I thought it would be easier to view the image on the screen instead of having to hold the camera next to my face, but I’m not sure if this option exists.

Hi Shawn ! is there a way to copy files TO my camera from pc ? i do not have a cardreader in my laptop and would like to move magic lantern since it seems the only way to find out my shutter count (most apps will tell me to turn off other software while i dont have anything else running ) i am using Windws 10 thanks in advance

I'm not sure, but I seem to remember not being able to do it. I think my students tried to transfer some footage from one computer, back on to the SD card while the camera was connected and it wouldn't let them. So, I'm not sure I can answer whether there's a way to do it. I've never done it, but that doesn't mean it can't be done. Sorry for not being able to help.

That depends on your budget and what you plan on using it for? For photography I think it's a nice, cheap option that can still take nice pictures for a casual user. If you have the money and think you want to get more into photography I'd get a newer model probably. BUT if you want to do video with it as well, I would NOT get this camera. The Canon SL2, the M50 or even like a T5i are all better for video (1080p+) and will give you SOME more advanced photo capabilities as well.

If you are getting it for Photography purposes, then $150 to $200 USD (with kit lens) is still worth it probably. If you want a DSLR for both photo/video...don't get the T3, get a T5 or newer model as they have 1080p for video ($250 to $350 USD). But if you are most into video, then I'd get a T3i ($300ish) or newer model ($400+), as the "i" versions have a mic jack for better external audio options and a flippy screen - or an SL2 is a good intro camera too.

@@GoldenArmz910I would say you can do better than this camera for this price range. as someone who was gifted one of these many years ago, moving to a 500-600d is a better starting point, its about 100 dollars more, but much more worthwhile. currently using a 5d mk3.
