Canon EOS RP // Was it a Mistake?

This entry-level full-frame camera does a lot of things well but it is not perfect. I talk about why you should get the Canon EOS RP. This camera is better in almost EVERY way than the Canon 5D MkIII that I bought for my ex about 10 years ago. At the time, that was one of the best cameras on the planet and you'd generally consider it to be "only for professionals". And yet, here we are only 12 years later questioning whether it's any good. It's my opinion that if you can't take EXCELLENT photos with an RP, you just aren't any good. Are there better cameras out there? For sure! In the same price range? Quite probably. But NO ONE should be able to say that this camera paired with some decent glass, can't take world class photos.

Just as a heads up, if you’re using a mac computer you can use your iPhone as a webcam and it’s much easier to Mount and move etc and it mirrors to your screen so you can use back camera and still see what you’re doing on Mac screen. 🤙🏼

If you really want that 'blurry background', adapting with some EF lenses using the EF to R adapter is the best way to go if you can't afford the RF glass. I've used a Sigma 24-70 f2.8 and the autofocus works like it was native. Or you can bring your camera back further and increase the focal length on your 24-105 to add more compression. It's a great camera, a capable b-cam or travel cam since it's so small and light. I always bring mine in professional shoots or in travels.

Canon should have used the same battery from the EOS R on the RP. As it is, it's using an inferior capacity battery used on many of their lower-end cameras.

Three main reasons is the 4K is cropped, I can only record for 30 minutes and I would prefer bigger batteries. (I have 3 batteries so I’m totally fine right now). Hope that helps!

@@RichieColemanSr Nowadays all canon cameras (i think except the R3) have a limit of 30' of video per file. So when it gets to 29:59 you have to press record again

I love how canon can hijack their OWN products. The RP should never have been made.
