This camera is such a gem in 2023. All cameras today are going for an overly sharp, clarity look with cheap optics while this camera lens has the signature canon bokeh and soft falloff - I have to agree the macro mode is amazing! Another thing I actually like is how dramatically the highlights clip on certain shots - I have always shot Nikon before and it’s interesting to get a taste of how canon does it with a more contrasty composition and less emphasis on vibrant colours (which you can retrieve in the 14 bit raw if you need it) but here’s the real selling point of this camera. The JPEGs are gorgeous straight out of camera! The same can NOT be said for any of my other cameras I’ve owned (Ricoh gr3, Leica tl2, Nikon z5, sigma fp, sigma dp2m). Don’t tell me iPhone 14pro because that thing has been an absolute let down. Absolutely incredible little camera that will make you enjoy taking photos - I imagine Fuji x100v will similar and even better in some areas because it has a prime lens 😮, but you can’t shoot with a closed aperture with that thing because it has no stabilisation… so you’re stuck shooting at f/2… I couldn’t be happier with my canon g1x iii

@@dylandigby1776 but canon does it way better still. I’ve spent hours editing a canon raw to make it look better than the sooc jpeg. I’ve spent 10 seconds on raw files from the other cams listed and immediately got a better result. That’s real science. You want more science? Look at the iphone 14pro vs 13pro. 14pro has superior sensor but worse image due to worse processing for that particular new sensor (but over time gets software updates. The g1xiii has a Digic 7 processor combined with matured sensor from canon 80d. And then weather sealing and dual pixel af is just yet another reason to get it

I just broke my secondary "everyday" camera (Sony Rx100 m4) and picked up a G1X MIII over the Fuji X100v after handling both briefly. Definitely think the G1X M3 is a better option overall. IMHO the fuji is overrated and overpriced for what it is. Don't get me wrong, f2.0 on a fixed lens is pretty sexy but its hardly impressive when you consider a) how chunky the X100 series is and b) how its an unstabilised lens. If it was more reasonably priced it would still be great despite its flaws but at its price it leaves a lot wanting. I also think the "film sim" is a pointless gimmick, its built in filters and effects that you are stuck with - if you really want a vintage film look you are much, much better off shooting raw and editing it in lightroom than being stuck with novelty JPEGs. Personally 35mm equivalent is also a bit too much of a "meh" focal length for me - its wide enough to be OK at landscapes and close enough to standard zoom to give passable subject focus, but it's not really good for either of those: landscapes look flaccid compared to 24mm and subject focused shots look vacant compared to 50mm. Being able to go down to F2 isn't worth being stuck at 35mm equivalent.

The mk11 despite having a slightly smaller 1.5 inch sensor and no evf, did have 24-120mm equivalent lens f2-f.3.9. With a 15mp sensor its individual pixels are bigger than the mk3 and its F2 minimum is about equal to the Slightly slower lens but bigger sensor on the mk3. As for vlogging it's not something that interest me at all. But most point and shoot cameras have a far better video focusing system than any large sensor camera, dslr, changeable lens system. All those cameras are first and foremost a Camera for taking still images with and any trade off that's needed that causes issue with video recording is done, video always comes second on a dslr, changeable lens system or large sensor compact. Needs are somewhat met with a lumix tz100 1 inch sensor camera that's small, compact fits in the pocket, has a 25-250mm range for stills and around 33-300mm for 4k video, which is excellent. That's the camera to buy for vloggers if you want excellent results in a camera you can put in your pocket. Dont fall for the bull about a bigger sensor being better for low light video, virtually every camera except for a few high end full frame ones just use a small crop of the sensor anyway, so low light use is out of the question. I only take photos and use a fuji x100, just thought if throw my thoughts out there

Love your videos Kinotika, but having looked at a lot of videos (including many of your own), the quality of this one for some reason did not seem so good. Not up to your usual standards. Maybe it was KZbin's compression? I could make out you were shooting with a Canon EOS - maybe R? But the image quality seemed poor. Very video-like rather than the usual 'Canon' colour-science that everyone loves. I suspect you were not using 'C' log? Or were you? The blacks seemed crushed and the colours saturated. The video image quality at 5:35 out of the G1X actually looked better than your own footage. I'd be interested to know if you agree, or whether there were some issues with the camera you were using? Otherwise great content, and thanks for posting.

It has 4K, dualpixel AF, vari-angle (frontfacing) touchscreen (which isn't obscured by an external mic or tripod if mounted to one) and a microphone input! Plus, the interchangeable lens mount is a plus (because the lens on the G1X Mark III is like super slow). Still hasn't got sensor stabilization, only digital one... and it's Canon, so the segmentation game is on. I'm personally more interested in what Panasonic/Olympus/Fujifilm has to offer though.

No he comprado la cámara.

IMO the music is way too loud especially at the beginning. It is very distracting and adds no value. I use a high quiality stereo with polk speakers and hear boom boom boom. Anyway, this camera is way too expensive for the slow lens, no mic input, soft video because of no 4k.The sacrifice is just to high in order to get dual pixel focus. I'll put up with touch to focus on a G7 or GX85 any day and get superior video quality at a fraction of the price not to mention no video time limit. No egg timers here. Canon is riding on their name again. Anyway, thanks for the video. Thumbs up.

When you really check how far the lens with lens cap protrudes when the Canon G1X Mark III is turned off, and when you know exactly where the battery is located, then you realize that they could have build a much bigger grip to fit a battery with a LOT of battery life in that camera, without making it much bulkier. I mean, who would pack any rather pricey compact camera without a lens cap on the lens, so, in this case, the camera is as bulky as its lens with lens cap protrudes. On top of that the Canon NB-13L is a rather old model of a rechargeable battery pack (like 4 years or even more), and there have been quite some improvements in battery technology since the 1st start of this model of Canon batteries. I have a Canon G7X that I intended to use for underwater photography with the same Canon NB-13L battery model, and that I bought with the Canon waterproof casing, but I quickly found out how limited it was (ultra short battery life, screen just not bright enough for underwater shooting, etc..., etc... ) ... in short, impossible to use for underwater photography. So I got a professional casing for my Sony A7 II to do underwater photography with a lot of satisfaction (the Sony A7 II doesn't have an extremely long battery life, but it's way way better than the Canon G7X for the job), and I wound up only using the Canon G7X with its casing on the kayak with my son, or at the beach, or just as a small and cheap (although it was expensive for what it really was) point & shoot camera to stuff in my pocket, and that's pretty much about it. Quite frankly it all looks to me as the new Canon G1X Mark III is just another EXPENSIVE TOY. And, as I'm not the kind to jump on every "new thing" shat by the industry, I just wait until something really good and competitive is being produced.

Great camera. It should not be over $1000 max. That's whats really hurting it. I mean if the with $899 it would be a much smarter upgrade if you are think of thee G5x. And that's the toss up for me, this or the G5X witch is now old, cheaper. They are so much a like. The video I've seen on it is really good, so is the build in mic. All around its a good camera. If it had 4k it would be much more worth the price. It's so small, you can fit it in your jean pocket. That is the huge appeal about this, a premium camera that's a cross between a DSLR and a point in shoot. Good for people who are looking for a good family camera or just something that you can fit in your pocket to replace the phone camera.

Good review video. Definitely made rethink the role of advanced compacts as a compliment to ILC. This is truly an interesting camera. I use both Canon and Fuji ILCs and I could see using this as a wide prime lens backup body if I knew my main camera lens would be a tele-zoom, or prime tele. This could also be my end of the day camera when I still want image quality for random walk arounds without drawing too much attention to myself. I have no interest in creating video, but I do see a missed opportunity by not including a mic jack. From a still shooter perspective, 3.5-4.5 should have been the zoom apperature. f4 across a wider range would definitely make this a compelling purchase as a compact backup body. Despite the limitation, I might look into this to see if it fits my needs for an upcoming trip this year.

There are characters used in Japanese that are impossible to to spell out with English alphabets and vice versa, English letter/words that are impossible to pronounce with Japanese characters. Can you say 「り・リ」(halfway between a "ri" and "li") or 「ん・ン」 (which is between "n" and "m")? If you aren't fluent in Japanese, you shouldn't argue over the "correct" pronunciation of Japanese words.
