Btw how do you do that cool effect where the camera suddenly speeds up for a moment? Is that with a gimbal or is that during editing?

doorpheus1 it’s done with the camera. You can create a transition by moving your camera really fast in any direction, it creates a whip or blur effect. Peter McKinnon has a good video explaining how to do it. Hope that helps!

Bro, I've been looking at dozens of video tests for this little camera and EVERYONE gets 4K wrong except for you. Ironically turns out you were shooting in 1080p but it looks way better than any 4K or 1080p tests I've seen. If I do end up buying this camera, it'll be because of this video. I exposed it to the right so I can bring down the exposure later. Usually that helps with noise in cinestyle and in log profiles

I typically try to keep my exposure about 1/3 over or under. I would also suggest sharpening in post and up scaling to 4K in post

@@VidzbyG that’s a great little lens! So far my favorite is the 35mm f1.4: it’s a brilliant little lens with a great feel and character and a 56mm equivelant rather than 35 for the 22 (not better, just different) . Although if you want autofocus get the 22 haha! I have and love both of them!

Thank you. One thing to remember, though. This was shot in 1080 and upscaled to 4K. I never really used 4K on the M50 because of the crop, as you mentioned.

It's great but i still don't understand what is the difference between 8 bit and 10 bit. Is 8 bit ok for cinematic? What do you think?

this camera doesn't have the option for 10-bit, so everything you're seeing is 8-bit. 8-bit is fine for most people and can be cinematic if your exposure is correct and your color grade isn't too strong. For heavier grading and more professional work, I would suggest something that can be 10-bit. It has a much higher color range and can show different gradients of color more accurately.

G Jackson, PsyD so i picked one up aswell and im getting to learn it. I noticed you shot at 60 fps and exported to 24 fps. Can you educate me on that? I understand its more cinamatic but will it reduce quality? Why was it not exported in 60 fps? Also do you have an instgram you post content on? Id love to see more of your work, its very nice

Tin Nguyen if you slow the 60fps footage down to 40% speed, it will then be 24fps. It doesn’t change the resolution when you use a 24 timeline, only the frame rate. For the most cinematic results/smoothest slow mo I’ve found that 24fps works best

This was shot in cinestyle profile, that helps. I also upscaled to 4k. Which helps with sharpness

Hello. This one was shot with cinestyle picture profile. Sharpness to 1, contrast all the way down, saturation and color tone to 0. 60 frames per second slowed to 24. All in 1080 but upscaled to 4k. I also used a variable ND filter so that I could shoot most of the video at f2.0. I hope that helps!

Hi. I would say it depends on what you're shooting, but generally I use either cinestyle or one of the other picture profiles you can find for this camera (EOS HD C log, Vision Color) because they have given the best results for me. I have also shot in neutral. I generally turn sharpness down to 1, contrast to 0, saturation -2 to -4 depending on the profile, color tone in the middle. Then the lens makes a difference for the image quality, so does the exposure. You want to keep the exposure meter beween 0 and +1/3 to keep the highlights from blowing out. I hope that helps
