the EVF is included in the kits. you can also shoot in 10 bit 4:4:4 on a ninja 5 if you rig it up a bit... or a lot. it's a nice little system for everyone but pros.

Funny thing, I just got M6 MII and I love it! I think because I'm not a photographer and really am only doing video with it, it suits perfectly. Put it in a cage, got the Sigma 16mm F1.4, the Canon 55-200mm, a Deity D4 Duo mic and I'm off to the races. Nothing I can't do with this setup! Thanks! I've smashed all the smashers! Salutations from astonishingly grey, chilly & still relatively locked down Ireland! ☘️☮️🤘🏽🤠👍🏽☮️☘️

The M6 MII is superior to the M50 in absolutely every measure (short of cost). All of the things the complained about (except for the hotshoe) with the M6 MII is worse on the M50. I've owned almost all of the M series cameras except the M100 and M200 and it's silly to compare the M50 to the M6 MII. If you pop the EVF on the M6 it's absolutely better in every way. The only argument someone could make is the M50 screen pops out to the side allowing your mic to be in the hot shoe spot but you can always tell vloggers who have their screens out to the side as their eyes go back and forth. If it's above or below you don't see this so even that point is mostly moot. Don't feel bad about your purchase, you got the better camera.

@@SonnyGreenwichJr For photography purposes an old M6 (Mark ONE) with the viewfinder is just nicer to use than an M50 because there are dials for all of the exposure triangle. With the M50 you have to fiddle with the touch screen to set the exposure. It's odd that the person making this video talks about the M6 MII having fiddly controls when it actually has separate controls for everything making it very nice to take photos with manually. The M50 is the camera that has the fiddly controls (as well as the M, M2, M10, M100 and M200). The M3, M5, M6 and M6 MII have wonderful photo taking controls and has manual dials for the entire exposure triangle. There is a difference between the original M6 and the M6 MII though - the original had an exposure compensation dial so when you were shooting in either aperture or shutter priority and want to adjust the brightness you could just twist that dial. On the Mark II that dial is gone and the Dial Func button is in its place. In full manual mode it doesn't matter as you're controlling everything but in any other modes it means you need to set the camera up a bit different. The M6 MII still has three dials for the exposure triangle so it's fine. the M50 has the one dial on the front and the little wheel on the back making it a bitch to take photos in manual mode. The M50 is for video (sort of). It has the flip out screen and doesn't have dials necessary for photography. The problem is the M6 Mark II is still better for video too. The M6 Mark II has full 4K, non-cropped video with dual pixel autofocus as well as eye autofocus. The M50 has heavily cropped 4K and relies on crappy contrast detect autofocus. It's nearly unusable in 4K mode and should never have been advertised as a 4K camera. Both cameras use pixel/line binned 4K though so the quality is not as good as Sony's. The HD on both cameras is stellar and better than Sony's however. The M50 should be seen as an HD only video camera with some ability to do light photography. The M6 Mark II is an OK 4K video camera with excellent ability for photography (with the EVF). The M6 Mark II does cost more than the M50 especially if you also buy the EVF (I got mine used for $120). However, if you compare it to the Sony 6400 it's still a pretty good deal.

@@GrantMcWilliams Great points. For a relative beginner wanting to get more into photography, I bought the m6 ii precisely because of the three control dials. I managed to get a bundle that included the EVF, which is handy to remove when I want to travel with a more compact set-up. My 15-45 kit lens appears to be really nice and sharp (to my eyes) and the f2 22mm lens makes the m6 ii a really compact system. Really happy with my camera

I just got the Canon M6 II. Yes they're are some compromises but overall I'm pleased. The 4K video is far better than most reviewers are giving it credit for and I have a Sony A6400 for comparison. The no crop feature is great too. Great focus but dynamic range could be better. I just got a great deal on a Sigma prime lens and can't wait to try it out.

Thank you for your honest review. Too many KZbinrs swear this camera is so amazing. I had high hopes but the lack of an evf, the soft 4k and the fact that you'd have to buy Canon's more expensive lenses to really get use out of that sensor were very disappointing. The Canon cripple hammer is real.

This camera is a gem and a very huge value for money. Yes, it has some crippled functions. But that's what the canon eos cinema camera line is for. Everyone complains about something on any camera. Well guess what, there's no such thing as a perfect camera with all the great functions at this price level. If someone wanted super crisp 4k then increase your budget and get the r5.

Interesting perspective on the m6 Mark ii. I think for you the now Long time rumoured R7 could be interesting. It’s supposed to the a mirrorless successor of the 7D with RF mount, if you want to stay on the APSC path. I myself use right now the 80D and also the M50 and consider now selling both and going for the 90D. But I do talking head shots and also product Videos, including macros, where the crop for the real 4k with the 90D actually is handy. And to me the regular un-cropped upscaled 4K is good enough for KZbin. But honestly for the work you do (like your vids a lot) you might should consider going full frame. Keep up the good work and have a nice Sunday🙏🏻
@NeilSmallerFilms3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, thank you for the kind words and support. I agree the rumoured R7 is definitely something I’m waiting for with keen interest. The 90D looks like an excellent camera for KZbin talking head and product work. It’s been in my radar for a while and I hopefully plan to get my hands on one over the summer to really test it out and potentially even make that my main workhorse. The consumer end of the RF spectrum is still lacking, however, and I’m very interested to see what, or indeed if, anything replaces the 90D in mirrorless format.
@mb-watches3 жыл бұрын
@@NeilSmallerFilms they sort of have to as canon announced to discontinue EF Glas. But you are right they lacking interesting rf lenses so far. That said, If sigma And tamron for example offer an 18-35 with rf mount and bring out also interesting macro lenses in the near future this would be tempting. What I hate most about my m50 is the battery life, this is where my 80D but also the 90D does shine so I am still tempted, even though it would be late getting it now. Will see if I can wait until end of the year or pull the trigger earlier, look forward to your thoughts on the 90D👍🏻
@NeilSmallerFilms3 жыл бұрын
I’m completely with you on the 90D. It has the potential to be an exceptional camera and fulfil many needs. However, my hesitation in pulling the trigger on it stems from the fact it is now a couple of years old and I can’t be sure I won’t regret it if Canon releases something equal in the RF line at around the same price point. Especially as for me the RF 35mm f1.8 Macro would be an excellent first choice in lens, covering my two most used features: a 35mm (50 in CS) field of view together with macro capabilities.
@mb-watches3 жыл бұрын
@@NeilSmallerFilms yeah that’s as well my issue. Canon normally take their time with new releases. At the moment I lean more to pulling the trigger right now in the m6 mii and 90D as matching sensors would help me and I sometimes need two cameras. Or I suffer for couple of month and get the m6 first and wait for the R7. Aside of that hope for a new video from you about the 90d, sorry for the rant here and appreciate your feedback 👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I see that you are one of these KZbinrs that gets hits by slamming things, never mind whether it's true or not, I am not a videographer so I'm not going to comment on that side of things, except to say that I can see that mounting a Mike on the hot shoe would be awkward in selphie mode, however what proportion of the time is that exact issue going to be an issue? Granted it is going to be, but how significant? My guess is that in the scheme of things, not massively, in normal filming mode the screen wil be flipped back in its normal space.plenty if people use this camera as a perfectly acceptable b-roll camera, As for stills it is not essential to have an EVF, you can shoot quite happily without. There is no definite law insisting that you must use an EVF to shoot stills, and please don't go off on a tangent saying you must utiluse one if you are going to be a proper stills photographer. As for your assessment of the controls for the camera, it is a small camera so what is it you were expecting exactly? Nice large buttons spaced out so you can stroll languidly from one to the other? That said you bemoaned the back button layout as being small and unusable, with tiny buttons and that you lacked the physical dexterity to use the m/AF switch? I don't know how outlandishly large your thumb is, but I can confidently use every dial/switch on the rear perfectly easily, indeed I can reach half the screen with my thumb. The lack of good quality glass has not been provided, but I understand that with canon mirror less cameras a great deal has been made of the fact that you can adapt old EF glass to the new mount, so you may well try that and reconsider ylyour opinion. It has to be said though that canon have been lazy with the m series. But EF lenses adapt like a dream, The fact that these points are raised on you're channel indicated to me that you have not actually used the M6.ii you have read the specs, seen a sample video that was cut down and was copied down drastically. Looked at photos of it and made your opinion on that basis. And then delivered your opinion in what you imagine is the style of an erudite hipster. Everything works, button works, dials works, top quality camera imo

Obviously you have not made any comparisons. Jeez, this is a bad review.. .
