I'm using it.... and makes great photos and videos

Its great. I got it very recently and my current setup is this: (I am a 14 year old photographer based out of the UK) The camera Body (Canon M6 Mark II) The Lens (EFS 60mm Canon Ultrasonic Macro lens) A view finder (EVF-DC2) A Lens mount adapter (EF-EOS M canon adapter) And I use 32 gig SD cards.

@@dj_mango8454 Great! I started getting serious about photography when I was 14 years old. Back then, I had a much less capable camera, an Olympus E-410 - a DSLR that didn't even record video. So, enjoy your Canon M6 Mark II; you have a great camera. The other gear you've mentioned is nice too.

i bought it to have a more capable camera than my mobile phone camera but not the size of my eos cameras. I ended up using this with my Celestron telescope using an adapter and its fantastic as i dont have to counter weight as much.

M6 mark II is a significant upgrade from the first M6 at 32 MGP and a ton more features. Although still i find the Mark II a little expensive for most people making the first M6 or M50 best bang for your buck at still 24.2 MGP and Dual Pixel AF niceo video man 👍🏼
@cameraexplorations12 күн бұрын
Yes, the M6 Mark II is still expensive for most people, although it comes with many useful features. The original M6 and the M50 are much more affordable and provide great value for the price, I agree - they are good enough, and Dual Pixel AF will always be a useful feature. I appreciate you adding this information, thank you!

great video. I’ve owned one of these bad boys since 2021 and I LOVE it . I’ve done professional work with it, and taken it on trips and it’s so portable and a joy to use even to this day. I found myself recommending one to my brother on Wednesday but I was hesitant for pretty much all the reasons you stated in the video. I gave him fair warning but for me, I’m in no hurry to move to the R mount

Thank you! I'm happy to hear you like the M6 Mark II, even though you're mindful of its limitations. Despite those, it remains a reliable camera, which is why I'm also in no rush to switch to the R mount.

Since the Canon M6 Mark II came out, I’ve said to myself 'What more could I need from a camera?' - It is excellent now and will be good enough many years from now, so I completely understand why this camera is your choice for as long as it lasts. You also chose some nice lenses. All the best to you! Enjoy your gear!

in my opinion probably still the best camera for traveling light. the EF-M18-150, 11-22 and 32 mm F/1.4 combo is perfect for the purpose. With adapter and L series lenses it becomes a monster! The video side is also discreet and by choosing a neutral profile it produces files that are very workable in post production even if we are not talking about 10 bit; it's really a shame that Canon has decided to discontinue the M series; perhaps not even Canon had understood its potential!

I like the way you concluded your idea, the last phrase, and I agree with everything you wrote! Now, as I'm typing, I stopped at a pub after work to see some friends. I have 6 cameras at home, but guess what's in my bag? That's right, the M6 Mark II. Glad to see you recognize and appreciate this camera's potential! Even if we'll not see EOS M cameras, hopefully Canon will launch a EOS R camera with the same shape as an M6 Mark II.

I own one. I love it. I use it as a travel camera were the small size is a major benefit. Not only the camera, but the lens as well. The weather sealing would have been great, because it did get splashed and I had to send it in to Canon for repair. My main question is - what is the alternative to the M6 mark II? Did Canon come out with a slightly larger mirrorless camera? Do I need to switch to another vendor for a pocket sized professional grade camera with interchangeable lenses?
@cameraexplorations8 ай бұрын
Good questions! The M6 Mark II was and still is a great camera - it is the best at this size, comfortably fitting in the pocket. Sony has the A6000 series, very similar to the M6 Mark II, but their rubbery viewfinder can cause issues in the pocket. You can try one of those Sony cameras or opt for the newer cameras Canon released: Canon R10 (quite small, but without weather sealing), Canon R7 (bigger, but it has weather sealing). The M6 Mark II was one of a kind; unfortunately, nothing beats that small size + performance at the moment.
@brandonevans1043Ай бұрын
I bought an M6 mk II back in Mar 2024 at the suggestion of a client/friend who shoots photos and videos for college and NFL football games, and he was right; it is definitely a beast. I love this little camera; it goes everywhere I do. For me, I'd say that half of the cons aren't really 'cons' so much as annoyances, though. Like, I'm not shooting in adverse weather conditions, so the weather sealing hasn't yet been an issue for me. (And I don't have a lot of extra cash for photography yet, so I couldn't afford a bunch of lenses anyway. lol) This camera was actually my introduction into photography, by the way. I hadn't shot on anything but a phone camera since my 35mm film days as a teenager back in the nineties/early 2000's. I got it to take better images of my tattoos, and fell in love with a second form of art instead. Whoops.

How does it compare to picture of say Samsung galaxy s24
@cameraexplorations5 күн бұрын
The size of the image sensor is very important. The Canon M6 Mark II’s sensor is likely around 15 times larger than that of the Samsung S24. As a result, color depth, dynamic range, and ISO performance are much better on the Canon M6 Mark II. However, most people don’t notice this difference because they typically view photos on a small smartphone screen. Additionally, smartphones use AI to enhance photos and compensate for their smaller sensor limitations. This enhancement often convinces people that a smartphone camera is as good as a normal camera. Smartphones have come a long way - don’t get me wrong; the newer models are quite impressive. But due to their smaller sensors, they can’t match the image quality of a modern camera like the Canon M6 Mark II, which features a much larger sensor.

I just bought one. And yes I know about the lenses and EoL obviously. But I got mine with two of The Sigma Prime's and a bunch of the original EF-M's that covers more than I want. For what i do, the 22mm and the Sigma 56 1.4 do 90% of what i ever need. I guess if you are in the hobby of collecting lenses you will be in trouble. But how many lenses does one really need?
@cameraexplorations9 ай бұрын
Enjoy your M6 Mark II ! Regarding the need for lenses, good question!
@timothykieper2 ай бұрын
Actually disagree with the lens availablilty issue. Hundreds of vintage lens options via adapter. Also many M mount lenses are available from third party providers at budget prices.
@cameraexplorations2 ай бұрын
With an adapter, there are hundreds of available lenses for every camera. However, I was thinking specifically about the native M-mount lenses, as no extra size or weight is added to the camera. The EOS M system has the fewest lenses compared to other mirrorless systems-there are only around 30 lenses available for the EOS M, and about half of them are manual focus, made by third-party manufacturers like 7Artisans. So, while it's true that we can always find lenses thanks to adapters, there aren't many native lenses available for the M6 Mark II.

I liked my M50 a lot, it was my light camera next to my 5Ds and R5 but sold it because 1. They never made an M5II (viewfinder), 2. I think 32Mpix on APS-C is a waste of data and it renders most great full frame lenses average, 3. I couldn't justify having so many lenses with different mounts (and adapters). So I got an R10 and sold my beloved tiny lenses (23 f2!). The R10 might be a better overall camera but not much better for photography at all and I miss the form factor (and the 23mm lens!!). The M6II didn't fit the bill either but with a viewfinder and 2 dials I would have bought it to replace my M50 in the blink of an eye.

ok im a bit of a beginner, a class im taking has a requirement for an optical zoom not digital zoom, does this camera use digital zoom?
@cameraexplorations2 ай бұрын
These types of cameras with interchangeable lenses, don't have a digital zoom - everything is optical, done by the type of lens you put in front of it. There are fixed (or prime) lenses and zoom lenses; so you just need a camera with interchangeable lenses that has a zoom lens attached or one of those compact cameras (like the Canon G7x).
